It was the weekend.
A tall, clean, and refreshingly dressed boy stood at the bus stop, waiting for someone.
His expression was calm and indifferent, his face void of emotion, giving off a cold and unapproachable aura. Yet his stunningly handsome features continued to attract the attention of passing girls.
One girl, gathering her courage, approached him with her phone in hand. “Excuse me, could I add your WeChat?”
Zhou Nanye frowned slightly and quickly refused. “N-No.”
He was waiting for Mianmian…
This was the first time Mianmian had invited him out.
Zhou Nanye was nervous, unsure of how to present himself when he saw her. His blank expression wasn’t arrogance; he simply didn’t know how to mask his tension.
The unrelated bystander asking for his WeChat only dampened his mood further.
However, the moment he heard the sweet and cheerful voice of a girl from not far away—
“Nanye~!”
His mood instantly brightened, like a firework bursting in the sky, dazzling and brilliant.
“M-Mianmian.”
Zhou Nanye’s lips involuntarily curved as he turned to face the running girl. The once distant and aloof demeanor melted into a soft, puppy-like expression.
“Have you been waiting long?” Jiang Mianmian asked as she stopped beside him. Her height barely reached his lips.
If she leaned closer, his lips would touch her forehead.
Standing so close, Zhou Nanye caught the faint, pleasant scent of her shower gel. After the initial joy of seeing her, he began to feel nervous again.
“N-No, not long.”
Zhou Nanye answered her quickly.
He hadn’t waited long.
Even if he had to wait longer, as long as it was for Mianmian, he wouldn’t mind at all.
He didn’t know why, but this thought suddenly surfaced in his heart.
Jiang Mianmian was dressed in a knee-length skirt and a fitted top that accentuated her slim waist, exuding a blend of sweet charm and subtle allure.
Zhou Nanye felt a little flustered and embarrassed, unsure of where to rest his gaze.
The girl who had asked for his WeChat noticed Jiang Mianmian approaching. Slightly disappointed, she muttered under her breath, “Oh, so he has a girlfriend. And she’s such a beautiful lady.”
“Come on, let’s go. The guy already has a girlfriend.” Her companion tugged her away.
Though her words were soft, they were close enough for Zhou Nanye and Jiang Mianmian to hear them clearly.
Zhou Nanye’s pale, handsome face immediately flushed a deep red.
They had misunderstood. They thought Mianmian was his girlfriend.
What would Mianmian think?
Would she be upset and refuse to see him again?
Flustered, Zhou Nanye tried to explain. “N-No, n-not…”
But his nervousness made his stuttering worse, and he couldn’t finish his sentence. The two girls had already walked away, oblivious to his attempt to clarify.
Jiang Mianmian, watching Zhou Nanye’s embarrassed and bashful demeanor, found his red-faced panic endearing and amusing.
“Nanye, no need to explain. They’re already gone.”
“Let’s hurry. The bus is here.”
With that, Jiang Mianmian reached out, grabbing his hand and leading him toward the bus.
Zhou Nanye froze in place. Whatever he was about to say vanished from his lips as his entire focus shifted to the small, soft hand holding his.
He glanced down slightly, staring at their joined hands, feeling an indescribable warmth fill his heart.
He loved being close to Mianmian.
A quiet joy bubbled up inside Zhou Nanye.
But what he didn’t know was that once they got on the bus, this closeness would only intensify, leaving him both thrilled and bashful as he endured the ride.
