Jiang Mianmian didn’t even glance at him. Instead, she looked at Zhou Nanye’s handsome face, now bruised and swollen, with a faint trace of blood at the corner of his mouth. She couldn’t help but feel a pang of heartache.
Zhou Nanye, enduring the pain, managed to force a smile at Jiang Mianmian.
“Mi… Mianmian… I… I’m not in pain…”
But his slightly strained expression clearly suggested otherwise.
Ming Yao, seeing this, was even more furious. His own face was also hurting, yet no one seemed to care about him.
Noticing that the teachers had clearly sided with Jiang Mianmian’s suggestion, he reluctantly and resentfully muttered a quick “I’m sorry” to Zhou Nanye.
Apologizing to Zhou Nanye filled him with a strong sense of humiliation, and the cold indifference from Jiang Mianmian only deepened his sadness. He no longer wanted to stay there.
Ming Yao didn’t care about the next class. He simply stormed out of the room.
He still couldn’t accept the fact that Jiang Mianmian no longer liked him. Seeing her being kind to another boy, Ming Yao finally understood what it meant to feel heartbroken.
But there was no such thing as a “regret pill” in this world…
From a distance, Zhou Linger witnessed everything that had happened. Seeing Ming Yao completely heartbroken by Jiang Mianmian, she smiled faintly.
This was the perfect opportunity to strike…
If she comforted and cared for Ming Yao while he was at his emotional low, she was confident she could win his heart!
So, when no one was looking, Zhou Linger quickly skipped class and followed Ming Yao out.
Meanwhile, Jiang Mianmian and Zhou Nanye tidied up the desks and chairs that had been knocked over during the fight.
Jiang Mianmian then took his hand and said,
“Come on, I’ll take you to the infirmary.”
“Mi… Mianmian, it’s… it’s not necessary… just… just a minor injury…”
Zhou Nanye felt that Mianmian should focus on attending class. After all, studies were important.
Jiang Mianmian looked helplessly at Zhou Nanye’s handsome face, now covered in bruises, and teased,
“My birthday is in just over ten days. Are you sure you want to show up at my birthday party looking like this?”
Zhou Nanye hadn’t looked in a mirror and didn’t know how he appeared at the moment.
Hearing Mianmian say this, he couldn’t help but feel a little nervous. “Mi… Mianmian… then… then maybe we should go to the infirmary…”
He wanted to appear in the best possible light in front of Mianmian, especially at her once-a-year birthday party.
When they arrived at the infirmary,
Zhou Nanye couldn’t help but glance at himself in the mirror. The boy in the reflection had a split lip, his face bruised and swollen in patches.
Ming Yao, who resented Zhou Nanye for stealing Mianmian’s attention, had targeted his face during the fight, thinking he was just a pretty boy.
Although Zhou Nanye had quickly retaliated, leaving Ming Yao’s face in a similar state,
the thought of Mianmian seeing him in such a beaten-up and ugly state made Zhou Nanye feel extremely self-conscious.
Jiang Mianmian went to fetch some medicine from the school nurse, and when she returned, she saw the tall, upright boy nervously checking himself in the mirror.
She couldn’t help but find it a little amusing.
“Mi… Mianmian… do… do I look really bad now…?”
Seeing the girl approach, Zhou Nanye couldn’t help but ask nervously.
Zhou Nanye had been praised for his looks since he was a child, but he had never paid much attention to his appearance before. However, ever since he fell for Mianmian, he had started to care more about how he looked.
He knew that appearance wasn’t the standard for liking someone, but a good-looking face could certainly leave a better impression.
He hoped that in Mianmian’s eyes, he would be someone she could like.
