Chapter 55: Proud Scholar x Elite Lawyer 13
Mid-June.
The weather was unbearably hot, the sun hanging in the sky like a blazing fireball.
Xie Qingjia was deep in thought in his bedroom, with no intention of going out for a stroll.
Oberon sat down beside him with a watermelon, scooping out a spoonful of the fruit and offering it to him. “Have a bite, don’t frown so much.”
Xie Qingjia took a bite of the watermelon. “Do you think I should go back to France for another two years of graduate studies, or stay in the country to focus on my research?”
Oberon poked his cheek. “Actually, you’ve already made your decision. The hesitation is only because of me.”
He spoke softly, “You want to stay in the country, but you’re only considering going back to France for my sake.”
“Darling, you don’t have to worry so much. I’m willing to come to China for you.”
His beautiful blue eyes, like sapphires, were filled with nothing but Xie Qingjia, his face radiating the utmost tenderness.
Xie Qingjia sighed, looking at the affectionate man with a conflicted expression. “Wouldn’t that affect your work at the law firm abroad?”
Oberon replied gently, “It’s fine. It’s just a matter of opening a law firm in China. Eivor can handle the one in France.”
“In the future, I’ll stay in China, and the cases in France can be handled by him.”
Eivor was also a partner in the law firm, so it was reasonable to have him take charge of the work in France, though it would mean more work for him.
Xie Qingjia leaned back, his beautiful almond-shaped eyes sizing up the other man.
“Tsk, tsk, you should be grateful I’m a good man, or you’d be in big trouble.”
It had to be said, his boyfriend had the potential to become a one-of-a-kind love-struck brain.
Oberon gazed at the extraordinary young man, his affection growing. “I love you, and staying in China for you is only natural.”
He stroked the young man’s soft hair. “You have family and friends here in China. I can’t let you abandon everything for me, while I have no one but you, my dearest and closest.”
Thinking of Oberon’s parents’ passing, Xie Qingjia couldn’t help but embrace him. “You have me. I’ll be your family from now on.”
“We’ll live a long life together, growing old together.”
Oberon put down the watermelon and pulled the young man into his arms, unable to resist giving Xie Qingjia a passionate kiss.
Xie Qingjia, bewildered: Can we just talk properly! All you think about is physical stuff.
He said sternly, “What are you doing! What are you doing! I’m trying to talk about serious matters, be serious!”
Oberon laughed heartily. “I heard you.”
“We’ll live a long life together, growing old together.” He smiled, looking down at the young man in his arms with a deep, resonant voice. “You are the only red rose in the barren landscape of my heart, and the most beautiful surprise in my thirty years of life.”
Xie Qingjia, feeling pleased, said, “Don’t think you can get away with that.”
Hmph, he wasn’t that easy to please!
Oberon leaned in closer to Xie Qingjia, his Western build easily lifting the six-foot-tall Xie Qingjia, his fingers caressing the other man’s face.
“Darling, you’re so beautiful.”
God had truly blessed his darling with a face that was a gift from heaven, but fortunately, no other men had coveted his darling before.
He could hold him in his arms.
Xie Qingjia turned his head. “Can you stop flattering me? Men should use words like ‘handsome,’ not ‘beautiful.’ If you keep this up, I’ll get angry.”
Oberon laughed. “We can’t say ‘beautiful,’ but who else uses the ID ‘First Beauty of the World’? Isn’t ‘beautiful’ and ‘pretty’ the same?”
He had long mastered the nuances of the Chinese language, far from being just a foreigner who only spoke French.
Xie Qingjia, slightly angry, puffed up and tugged at Oberon’s face.
“I can say it, but others can’t.”
Oberon narrowed his eyes. “Others? Is that what you call me, darling?”
Xie Qingjia immediately hugged the petty man, giving him a charming smile. “Of course not, you’re my dearest boyfriend.”
“Just don’t be so petty.”
Oberon looked at him calmly, a faint smile on his face. “Tsk, looks like you want more tonight.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll fulfill your wish.”
Xie Qingjia silently withdrew his hand, trying to pry the large hands from his waist.
“I’m not, I didn’t, don’t say nonsense.”
Oberon took Xie Qingjia’s hand again, intertwining their fingers, pressing his body close to the beautiful young man, his eyes fixed on him.
“Being insincere is not good, you know.”
“Your insincerity!” Xie Qingjia struggled, but before he could break free, Oberon had already lifted him and carried him to the bed behind them.
Oberon began to savor his boyfriend’s beauty, making Xie Qingjia extremely angry.
Damn it! Big damn it! I’m so angry!
