Chapter 97: Gentle Human x Fierce Wolf Beast 09
In the private room.
Ning Si sat next to Jian Tong on the sofa, eyeing the young man dressed as a deer beast.
“We’re probably here because of the same person, aren’t we?”
Jian Tong looked solemnly at the other’s black cat ears and nodded silently.
“Can you tell me your situation?”
He really hadn’t expected that not only had the original host been tricked by Xi Jing into coming to the beast world, but there was also an equally unfortunate manager who had ended up here.
This wasn’t mentioned in the original novel’s plot.
Ning Si’s expression gradually darkened, his eyes behind the gold-rimmed glasses filled with anger. The usually shrewd man was now seething with rage.
“That bastard…” He cursed and began recounting the events of that day.
“His contract with the company was expiring, and I was discussing a renewal with him. But he tried to take advantage of the situation to increase his value.”
“Tch! He didn’t even know his own worth. There are so many talented young singers in the music industry who would kill for a chance to sign with our company! And he had the nerve to be picky! Always wanting more than he deserved.”
“The company had turned him from a nobody into a second-tier star, and yet he still complained that the resources we gave him weren’t good enough. Ugly on the outside but dreaming big!”
He paused before continuing, “I told him to be realistic and work his way up step by step, not to aim for the stars in one leap.”
“But he wouldn’t listen and decided to leave the company to sign with a rival music label.”
Ning Si massaged his temples to calm himself. “I really regret taking him on as a singer. The three years I spent managing him were the biggest challenge of my career.”
“If he had followed my plan, he would have become a top-tier singer by now, but he…” He sighed helplessly. “I just couldn’t understand his thinking. It felt like we were living in different worlds.”
“And so, we had a few arguments over the contract. I was already done with him. If he wanted to leave, fine.”
“Just as I was about to leave, a huge black hole appeared in front of him, and it was clearly targeting him…”
“But he was terrified and pushed me into it, then ran away.”
“After being pushed into the black hole, I ended up here. I have no idea what happened after that.”
When Ning Si was pushed into the black hole by Xi Jing, he really wanted to grab a knife and stab the bastard. That scoundrel had no conscience, pushing him in to save himself!
He gritted his teeth in frustration. “Now it’s your turn to tell me your story.”
Jian Tong silently mourned for Ning Si for three seconds before beginning to recount his own experience.
“I was changing clothes backstage, ready to go home, when I passed by his room. He suddenly dragged me inside.”
“That scoundrel used me as a shield and pushed me in. When I opened my eyes, I was here…”
He said through gritted teeth, “I fell into a primeval forest with no way out!”
Ning Si’s face darkened. “I fell into an endless sea!”
Jian Tong: “I was lost in the forest for ten days!”
Ning Si: “I swam in the sea all night!”
The two victims grasped each other’s hands, their eyes filled with mutual understanding.
“That bastard must have come here too.”
“Not only did he come, but he’s also become a big shot,” Ning Si said with a twisted expression. “That shameless guy has been taking other singers’ songs and claiming them as his own, and no one can even accuse him of stealing.”
Many cultures from the 21st century and before had been lost due to the apocalyptic crisis, so those once-famous songs had disappeared as if they had never existed.
Xi Jing took advantage of this void, pulling out popular songs from the past and skyrocketing to fame, especially with the backing of powerful figures.
Becoming a sensation was effortless for him.
Jian Tong, having read the original novel, naturally knew how Xi Jing had been plagiarizing 21st-century pop songs. But whether Xi Jing was successful or not had little to do with his mission, so he didn’t bother interfering.
He looked thoughtfully at Ning Si.
Ning Si’s existence was likely similar to the original host’s—another victim, unmentioned in the novel, probably meeting the same fate.
The fact that he had survived this time might be due to the butterfly effect caused by Jian Tong’s early changes, allowing this unfortunate manager to live.
Ning Si let go of Jian Tong’s hand and clutched his chest, which was aching from anger.
“If only I had a better sense of rhythm, I’d go up there and smash that guy’s face!”
Jian Tong: “d(д)”
He silently took a step back. “Are you okay?”
He had the feeling that Ning Si was on the verge of a heart attack, though he remembered that the man didn’t have such a condition.
“Calm down…”
Ning Si clutched his chest. “I can’t calm down. I really want to beat the crap out of him.”
Jian Tong hesitated for a moment, then looked at Ning Si with a serious expression. “I also want to give him a good beating!”
It wasn’t just a thought—he was going to do it.
Ning Si lowered his hand from his chest and stared at the earnest Jian Tong. “You…”
Had this seemingly well-behaved young dancer also been pushed to his limit, just like him?
Jian Tong said solemnly, “If I don’t beat him up, I won’t be able to vent my anger!”
Ning Si licked his lips. “Kindred spirits!”
He extended his hand to Jian Tong. “Here’s to a successful partnership.”
Jian Tong shook his hand. “Partnership it is.”
Li Xiao and Ning Si’s lion beast boyfriend: “Did you two just make such a rash decision?”
“Sigh.” The two beastmen massaged their temples, somewhat helpless about their partners’ impulsive behavior, but they still supported Jian Tong and Ning Si.
Having listened to so much, they too felt an itch to punch the person their partners kept mentioning, let alone Jian Tong and Ning Si, who had suffered so much at his hands.
