“What are you doing here?” Ruan Lan glared at Leng Yifeng with displeasure. “Didn’t I tell you to entertain the guests properly?”
“A few elders have arrived, and they’re looking for you.”
Hearing this, Ruan Lan finally walked out.
Leng Yifeng’s gaze flickered with admiration when he saw Lin Qingyou dressed up elegantly, but then his eyes instantly turned cold at the thought of her recent attitude towards him.
With a sarcastic tone, he said, “Haven’t you been getting close to Yin Hanyu lately? Where is he?”
Lin Qingyou smirked coldly, using the excuse of going to the restroom without responding to him.
Inside the restroom, Ming Yu was already waiting for her.
Lin Qingyou immediately removed the jade bracelet and handed it to Ming Yu.
Then, she took out an identical replica from her bag and put it on her wrist.
Based on her memories from her past life, she had a strong feeling that this bracelet was not as simple as it seemed.
After completing the switch, Lin Qingyou walked out as if nothing had happened.
However, as soon as she stepped out, she ran into Leng Yifeng again.
With a hostile tone, he asked, “Are you deliberately avoiding me?”
Lin Qingyou replied nonchalantly, “Since you already know, why not just keep it to yourself? Why say it out loud and make things awkward for everyone?”
Leng Yifeng: “…”
Fuming, he snapped, “Lin Qingyou, you’re mad at me because I hid the fact that my leg was healed, aren’t you? I had my reasons! Even if you don’t understand, how dare you give me attitude? After all, I did save your life!”
“So, you’re using your kindness as leverage against me?” Lin Qingyou said. “I am grateful that you saved me, but I also took care of you for years in return.”
“You’re fine now, and so am I,” she concluded. “That means we owe each other nothing.”
“You—”
Leng Yifeng wanted to argue further, but just then, Lin Qingqing, Father Lin, and Wang Yalan approached them.
“Sister, so this is where you are! We’ve been looking for you everywhere,” Lin Qingqing said, holding a glass of champagne.
Wang Yalan took the opportunity to say, “Qingyou, let’s just say Qingqing was at fault before. I told her to apologize by offering you a drink. Stop being mad at your father and come home, alright?”
As soon as Wang Yalan finished speaking, Lin Qingqing handed the champagne to Lin Qingyou. “Sister, it was my fault. I know I was wrong. Please forgive me.”
In an instant, the mother and daughter duo had cornered Lin Qingyou.
With so many people watching, and them acting so humble, if Lin Qingyou refused, she’d be judged harshly again.
Sure enough, whispers spread around the room.
“They say being a stepmother is hard, and I believe it now.”
“Isn’t it? Madam Lin has always been gentle and kind, but the eldest daughter of the Lin family has been unruly since childhood. Now she’s even more arrogant.”
Lin Qingqing smirked provocatively at Lin Qingyou, but her voice remained meek. “Sister, please forgive me~”
Lin Qingyou casually found an excuse. “I’m on my period, so I can’t drink alcohol.”
“So, Sister, you really don’t want to forgive me?” Lin Qingqing’s eyes instantly turned red. “Are you afraid I poisoned it?”
“I never said that,” Lin Qingyou retorted. “You’re the one making it sound suspicious.”
“You… Sister…” Lin Qingqing’s eyes not only turned red but tears also began to fall.
“Sister, how can you think of me like that?”
As if to prove her innocence, Lin Qingqing downed the champagne in one go right in front of everyone.
She drank too quickly and started coughing awkwardly.
Her dramatic act drew even more attention.
“Wow… Seems like being a stepsister is just as hard as being a stepmother.”
“Yeah, the eldest Miss Lin is really too aggressive and overbearing.”
“I heard Lin Qingqing had a rough childhood, and she only started living well after her mother remarried. But then her stepfather’s biological daughter returned…”
“We’re only seeing this now. Imagine how bad it must be when we’re not watching.”
“Father Lin is truly something else. If he married that woman, shouldn’t he treat her daughter as his own? How can he allow his real daughter to publicly humiliate the younger one?”
“Just because she’s not his biological child?”
“This is why no woman should ever marry a man with a child, especially not with a daughter.”
Father Lin’s expression darkened as he heard the gossip. He shot Lin Qingyou a disapproving glare. “Do you really have to be this stubborn? There’s no lasting grudge within a family! Your Aunt Lan and Qingqing have been more than kind and tolerant towards you.”
“Look at what people are saying about you! About me!” He grabbed Lin Qingyou’s arm. “Go and—”
“Tsk… quite the lively scene here.”
A lazy, indifferent voice interrupted.
At that moment, Yin Hanyu appeared, clad in a luxurious burgundy suit, as dazzling and mysterious as a blood-red gemstone.
He held a glass of deep crimson wine, walking towards the crowd with steady elegance.
At that moment, everyone’s attention shifted toward him.
Yin Hanyu was born as if he were God’s most favored child. Every time he appeared, it was like a storm descending, instantly becoming the center of focus.
His natural aristocratic aura and overpowering presence made him impossible to ignore.
Lin Qingqing’s reaction was especially obvious.
The moment her gaze landed on Yin Hanyu, she seemed to have lost her soul.
Her eyes remained locked on him, unable to look away.
What was surprising, however, was that the notoriously aloof Yin Hanyu seemed to return her gaze with unusual interest.
Instead of looking annoyed, he even smiled flirtatiously.
“Miss Lin, you’re staring at me so intently. Do I have something on my face?” His deep, magnetic voice was like a finely tuned violin playing a mesmerizing melody.
Lin Qingyou felt a pang of jealousy in her heart.
This scummy man—he was actually using his looks as a weapon.
Hmph.
Yin Hanyu turned slightly and caught Lin Qingyou glaring at him fiercely.
A subtle smirk curved his lips.
Tsk, she’s jealous.
Yin Hanyu raised an eyebrow at her teasingly.
Lin Qingyou instantly wanted to scratch his handsome face.
Using his devilish face to seduce others?
She should just ruin it for him…
Yin Hanyu lazily swirled his wine and gestured towards a nearby seating area. “Miss Lin, may I buy you a drink?”
“Yes, yes! Of course!”
Lin Qingqing agreed eagerly, completely ignoring Wang Yalan’s warning glances.
She immediately followed Yin Hanyu, even throwing a triumphant look at Lin Qingyou before leaving.
Lin Qingyou rolled her eyes so hard they nearly fell out of her head.
Fine, be smug all you want.
You’ll learn soon enough what it means to reap what you sow…
