Ming Yu sat there silently, unmoving.
Time seemed to have frozen, stretching on for a long while.
Finally, she slowly lifted her head, her gaze locking onto Ruan Lan. “Master, what exactly do you want me to do?”
Her sharp and complex gaze remained fixed on Ruan Lan.
At this moment, Ruan Lan slowly reached into her robes and took out a small, delicate bottle, then handed it to Ming Yu.
Ming Yu took the bottle, carefully examining it in her hands.
She then shifted her gaze back to Ruan Lan, her expression unreadable. “Master, are you asking me to poison Yin Hanyu?”
Before Ruan Lan could reply, Ming Yu spoke first. “Master, if that’s what you’re thinking, I advise you to abandon the idea immediately. Yin Hanyu is smarter than anyone and knows me better than anyone…”
“I can’t deal with him…”
Ming Yu returned the small bottle.
Hearing this, Ruan Lan gently shook her head, a faint smile appearing on her lips. “I don’t need you to deal with Yin Hanyu.”
“I have another candidate for that…”
Another candidate?
Who?
Lin Qingyou?
“Then who does Master want me to deal with?”
“Yin Yixuan.”
In an instant, Ming Yu’s expression changed dramatically. Her previously calm eyes flickered with shock and disbelief.
Seeing her reaction, Ruan Lan chuckled softly, as if amused by her response.
Then, Ruan Lan continued, “No need to be so tense! My dear disciple, this medicine isn’t some deadly poison.”
She deliberately paused for suspense.
“It’s just that… once Yin Yixuan takes this medicine, Yin Haoting will have no choice but to come to me and beg.”
“Hahahahaha… Hahahahaha…” After finishing her words, Ruan Lan burst into unrestrained laughter, her voice echoing in the room for a long time.
“Yin Yixuan… Why him?”
“What? Feeling sorry for him?” Ruan Lan studied Ming Yu. “Ming Yu, don’t tell me you’ve fallen for Yin Yixuan? He is, after all, the son of the man who killed your father.”
Ming Yu remained silent, but Ruan Lan suddenly changed the topic.
“Sigh…” Ruan Lan sighed. “Yin Yixuan is actually just a pitiful soul himself.”
“If he knew the truth, he might even want to kill Yin Haoting with his own hands.”
“What do you mean?” Ming Yu frowned, puzzled.
“In the Yin family, there are three brothers. The eldest, Yin Haoting, is the most outstanding and obedient. The second, Yin Haoyang, is a hedonistic playboy, utterly useless. The third, Lan Si, was rebellious from a young age and refused to be controlled.”
“Over twenty years ago, Yin Haoyang, in his reckless indulgence, got himself sterilized.”
“At the same time, Lan Si suddenly enlisted in the military for unknown reasons… He was gone for over a decade, with no word. Even Yin Tianzheng, that old bastard, couldn’t reach him, let alone find him.”
“Many people even speculated that Lan Si had died.”
“As a result, two of the three Yin brothers were effectively ‘ruined’.”
“Naturally, the responsibility of marriage and producing heirs fell on the eldest son, Yin Haoting.”
“But fate is unpredictable…”
“After Yin Haoting abandoned me for that wretched woman, she ended up abandoning him too… His heart was shattered, and he lost the desire to remarry.”
“Suddenly, all three Yin brothers were rendered useless.”
“But how could that be allowed? The Yin family, with its wealth and power, couldn’t be left without an heir! The Yin family members would never allow such a thing to happen.”
“So naturally, they set their sights on the most promising and obedient son—Yin Haoting.”
“Yin Haoting had to marry and have children to ensure the continuation of the Yin bloodline.”
“When he refused, the Yin family elders threatened him with their own lives…”
“And thus, Yin Yixuan’s mother and Yin Yixuan came into existence.”
Ming Yu listened intently.
This all seemed reasonable, but why did her master say that Yin Yixuan would hate his father if he knew the truth?
Unless…
A terrible suspicion formed in Ming Yu’s mind.
She looked at Ruan Lan in shock.
Ruan Lan seemed to have read her thoughts. She smirked. “Yes, it’s exactly as you suspect…”
“In reality, Yin Yixuan’s mother was no noble lady. Her family was, at best, a scholarly household—both parents were top professors at elite universities.”
“Compared to ordinary people, they were certainly a wealthy, upper-middle-class family.”
“But compared to the Yin family? They were nothing. Their entire fortune combined wasn’t even worth a single string of imperial jade beads owned by Yin’s grandmother.”
“However, Yin Yixuan’s mother was an exceptionally intelligent woman, a top-tier scholar with both IQ and EQ.”
“The Yin family chose her not because Yin Haoting loved her, but because her background was pure and her genes were exceptional.”
“They wanted her superior genes to produce an intelligent heir for the Yin family.”
“So, they approached her and made a secret agreement.”
“But Yin Haoting, deeply in love with that wretched woman, refused to yield—even when his parents threatened to kill themselves. The most he was willing to do was agree to artificial insemination.”
“Yet, for the sake of appearances and to provide a ‘perfect, loving family’ for their hard-earned heir, the Yin family still arranged for him to marry her.”
“Otherwise, how would it look if none of the Yin brothers married or had children? Imagine the rumors…”
“To outsiders, Yin Haoting and his wife appeared to be a loving couple, and Yin Yixuan was seen as their cherished son—the envy of many.”
“But only I know… Yin Yixuan was never the product of love. He was nothing more than a test-tube baby, conceived purely for the Yin family’s interests.”
“No, no… To be precise, he was an expensive, meticulously crafted tool—a carefully designed successor for the Yin family!”
Even though she had mentally prepared herself, Ming Yu was still left speechless when she heard the whole truth. She stood frozen, struggling to process it all.
A sharp, indescribable ache spread through her heart, like countless tiny needles piercing her soul.
She suddenly felt unsteady.
After all, Yin Yixuan had always been so proud, so confident…
If he learned the truth of his existence… His entire world would collapse instantly. He would be utterly shattered.
