Yin Hanyu had spent the entire day reviewing documents. Dragging his slightly fatigued body, he slowly pushed open the door to his home.
However, the house was unusually quiet. The familiar figure that would usually rush into his arms with a cheerful “You’re back~~” was nowhere to be seen.
Yin Hanyu frowned slightly. Before coming home, he had checked with Ming Yu, who told him that Lin Qingyou had asked her to take care of Xiao Xue while she herself had returned from the hospital. That was why he hadn’t gone directly to find her there.
At this moment, Lin Qingyou was actually at home, but she was completely unaware that Yin Hanyu had returned.
She was curled up in a corner of the living room sofa, lost in her thoughts, unable to pull herself out…
If what she was thinking was true, what should she do?
Could it really be her father?
Lin Qingyou clutched her head in agony.
Seeing her like this, Yin Hanyu immediately walked over, bent down slightly, and called out softly, “Qingyou, what’s wrong?”
But Lin Qingyou didn’t respond.
She hugged her head tightly, trembling like a frightened little animal, her arms wrapped tightly around herself.
The tighter she held herself, the colder her body became…
“Qingyou… Qingyou…”
“Qingyou, what’s wrong?”
Only after hearing Yin Hanyu’s voice calling her repeatedly did Lin Qingyou seem to wake from a long nightmare. Slowly, she lifted her head to look at him.
But her eyes were filled with confusion and helplessness, like a small, pitiful creature that made one’s heart ache.
“Qingyou…”
Seeing her like this, Yin Hanyu’s heart ached. He immediately stepped forward, gently pulling her into his embrace and asked again, “What happened? Can you tell me?”
Lin Qingyou didn’t answer. Instead, she just clung to him desperately, as if only by doing so could she find a sliver of comfort.
But even with his warmth, her body remained chillingly cold, for the icy despair in her heart was bone-deep…
That fear crept from the depths of her soul, threatening to consume her completely.
Her father’s questioning today, his demeanor, had caused a terrifying thought to suddenly take root in her mind.
If her suspicions were true, then…
“Aaaaah!” Lin Qingyou let out a painful scream.
She had never imagined that the person involved in everything—the one who hurt her aunt, the one who might have even hurt Yin Hanyu—could actually be… her own father!!!
If it was true, what was she supposed to do?
But if she thought about it that way, then everything that had happened before suddenly made sense…
Since her rebirth, she had changed many things because, in her past life, she had known the true faces of Leng Yifeng, Lin Qingqing, and Wang Yalan.
But why hadn’t she changed her aunt’s fate?
Because in her previous life, she never knew who had killed her aunt. So, in this life, she still couldn’t prevent it…
In her past life, after her aunt died, it wasn’t long before she herself—and even Yin Hanyu—also perished…
If it really was her father…
“Aaaaah!” Lin Qingyou screamed in agony again.
So, in her past life, was it her father who had her killed?
The cruise ship—he was the one who personally sent her onto it!
When he left, the way he looked at her was complicated… But in her past life, she had only thought it was because he didn’t want her to leave.
Dad… was it really you?
“Aaaaah… aaaaah!” Lin Qingyou couldn’t accept the truth.
“Qingyou… Qingyou… Qingyou…”
Yin Hanyu held her tightly, as if afraid she would disappear. Seeing her in such pain, his heart felt like it was being torn apart. He anxiously asked, “Qingyou, what’s wrong? Please, tell me.”
“I just… I want to be alone for a while…”
Lin Qingyou looked at him. “Can you leave for now?”
“No.” Yin Hanyu refused and only held her tighter. “Qingyou, don’t push me away. Didn’t you always say that we should face everything together?”
“But…”
“No buts. Qingyou, don’t scare me. You’re scaring me like this…”
For the first time, Yin Hanyu openly admitted his fear.
Lin Qingyou looked into his eyes.
They were filled with worry, care… and undisguised fear.
Yes, she was the one who had said that they should face things together.
Even someone as stubborn and proud as him had done so much for her.
What more could she ask of him?
Tears welled up in Lin Qingyou’s eyes, and she could no longer hold them back.
“Qingyou…”
Yin Hanyu’s heart ached even more as he carefully wiped the tears from her pale, delicate face. Her tears fell like pearls, one after another, into his palm.
His heart felt like it was shattering.
“I’m sorry…” Lin Qingyou’s voice was hoarse. “I made you worry again…”
Yin Hanyu caressed her face as if handling something fragile. His gaze was filled with love and concern, without the slightest hint of blame or impatience.
“Silly girl, I’m your husband. Of course, I worry about you.”
“My love, what happened?”
His voice was choked with emotion. Pressing his forehead against hers, he pleaded, “Tell me, please? No matter how big the problem, I will always be by your side.”
Hearing his warm words, Lin Qingyou’s tears poured out even more uncontrollably.
She held onto him tightly, burying her head in his chest.
“Don’t be afraid…” Yin Hanyu gently patted her back. “Qingyou, don’t be afraid. I’m here for you.”
Lin Qingyou shut her eyes tightly and murmured painfully, “I think… I found out who hurt my aunt…”
Hearing this, Yin Hanyu’s heart tightened.
She knew?
“Who?” he asked cautiously.
But Lin Qingyou only bit her lip and said nothing.
Seeing this, Yin Hanyu felt an even deeper pain.
He tightened his embrace, as if trying to use his warmth to drive away the fear and sorrow inside her.
His thumb gently traced her tear-streaked face, trying to comfort her.
Time passed in silence.
Finally, Lin Qingyou slowly looked up at him. “It’s… it’s…”
She hesitated.
Yin Hanyu didn’t rush her.
He simply held her close, staying by her side, patiently waiting.
At last, she whispered, “It’s… my father.”
Lin Qingyou shut her eyes in anguish.
“It’s your father, isn’t it?”
As soon as Yin Hanyu spoke, Lin Qingyou’s eyes snapped open in shock. Staring at him, her voice trembled. “You… how did you know?”
Her gaze was filled with disbelief, confusion… and deep sorrow.
Because this meant that her father was connected to that secret human experimentation base.
He was the second-in-command of that base.
