Ming Yu was unwilling to give up. She picked up the pocket watch and attempted to hypnotize Lin Qingyou for the second time.
“Mom…”
“Mom…”
But Lin Qingyou’s emotions became even more agitated, more painful than when she had recalled Yin Hanyu earlier.
At this moment, Lin Qingyou lay weakly on the bed. Her already tormented face now looked even more twisted and contorted, as if she were enduring unbearable suffering.
“Mom…”
“Mom…”
With each desperate cry, Lin Qingyou’s body suddenly trembled violently before going completely limp on the bed, falling into a deathly coma, utterly motionless.
Ming Yu’s forehead was also gradually covered in fine beads of sweat due to the hypnosis. Clearly, she was struggling as well… But her gaze remained unwaveringly determined.
She had no intention of giving up so easily.
Taking a deep breath, Ming Yu slowly raised her hand and picked up the pocket watch again.
The ticking of the watch filled the room as she gripped it tightly.
It was clear—Ming Yu was preparing for a third attempt at hypnosis.
She took another deep breath and silently prayed that this time, it would work.
However, the third hypnosis attempt on Lin Qingyou still did not go well.
Because every time she reached a memory fragment related to Lin Qingyou’s mother, the hypnosis seemed to trigger an impenetrable barrier.
“Ahhhhhh—!”
Suddenly, Lin Qingyou let out a heart-wrenching scream that shattered the silence of the room.
“Ahhhhhh… Mom…”
“Mom…”
It was as if she had suffered a tremendous shock. She clutched her head desperately, her body trembling uncontrollably.
Her face turned deathly pale, and beads of sweat rolled down her cheeks.
The unbearable pain forced her to press her hands tightly against her head as she cried out in agony, “Ahhh… It hurts… It hurts so much… My head hurts so much…”
“Mom…”
“Mom…”
“Mom…”
Her gut-wrenching screams echoed through the room, heartbreaking to hear.
Outside the door, Yin Hanyu heard her cries of pain and instantly panicked like an ant on a hot pan, pacing anxiously.
He could no longer hold back his worry.
Finally, he couldn’t care about anything else anymore—he lifted his foot and kicked the door open.
With a loud bang, the door flew open and crashed to the ground.
Yin Hanyu rushed into the room in an instant, forcibly interrupting Ming Yu’s third hypnosis attempt on Lin Qingyou.
Seeing Lin Qingyou in such pain and weakness, Yin Hanyu’s heart nearly broke.
He carefully picked her up.
Then, glaring at Ming Yu, he looked as if he wanted to strangle her. “Didn’t I tell you to stop if she felt any discomfort?”
“I…”
Before Ming Yu could finish speaking—
Yin Yixuan stormed into the room.
“What are you yelling for?”
He glared at Yin Hanyu, just as furious. “It was your woman who wanted Ming Yu to hypnotize her. She has to take responsibility for the consequences herself!”
Outside, Yin Yichen saw his two older brothers about to start a fight and instinctively wanted to run far away.
But instead, he braced himself like a martyr and stood between them.
“Brothers, don’t fight! We’re all family, right…”
“Get lost!”
“Get lost!”
Yin Hanyu and Yin Yixuan shouted at him in unison.
Yin Yichen weakly hugged himself, looking pitiful, helpless, and small… What did he do to deserve this?!
—
Lin Qingyou finally woke up several hours later.
“Youyou, you’re awake… How do you feel? Are you still feeling unwell anywhere?”
Sitting by the bed, Yin Hanyu gazed at her with deep concern, his dark eyes full of heartache and anxiety.
Hearing his familiar voice, Lin Qingyou suddenly sat up and threw herself into his arms.
She clung tightly to the man who loved her dearly, her voice trembling with both excitement and an unshakable sorrow. “Hanyu, I remember now… I remember everything… I remember all the beautiful times we spent together when we were young…”
Yin Hanyu could feel her frail body trembling slightly in his arms. He held her even tighter.
Gently patting her back, he murmured with lingering fear, “I’m just glad you’re awake…”
As long as she was safe and healthy, nothing else mattered.
Even though she had only been unconscious for a few hours, he had been terrified—terrified that she might never wake up again.
“But…” Lin Qingyou suddenly furrowed her brows, lost in thought. After a while, she continued, “But no matter how hard I try, I still can’t remember anything about my mother.”
Every time she tried to recall memories of her mother, a sharp pain stabbed through her head, forcing her to stop thinking.
“That’s because that’s the real memory they wanted to erase through hypnosis,” Ming Yu said, handing Lin Qingyou a cup of warm water. “Whoever hypnotized you is far more skilled than I am, so I can’t undo it.”
“The reason they also hypnotized you to forget Yin Hanyu…” Ming Yu looked at Yin Hanyu, “is probably because Pei Mingzhu realized how deeply you loved him during the hypnosis.”
And Pei Mingzhu hated Bai Ci and Yin Hanyu to the core…
“So, altering your memories of Yin Hanyu was just an afterthought,” Ming Yu explained. “She replaced your love for him with Cold Yifeng instead.”
The real deep hypnosis was the one that erased Lin Qingyou’s memories of her mother.
“My mom…” Lin Qingyou tried to recall again, but pain immediately shot through her head.
“Enough, stop thinking about it.” Yin Hanyu quickly stopped her, seeing how much pain she was in.
“But I feel like… if I try a little harder, I might remember…” Lin Qingyou turned to Ming Yu, eager. “Ming Yu, can we try again?”
Before Ming Yu could refuse, Yin Hanyu firmly rejected the idea.
“No!”
“From now on, you are not allowed to be hypnotized again!” he declared domineeringly.
Lin Qingyou opened her mouth to argue, but Yin Hanyu immediately reached out and clamped her mouth shut.
Her wide eyes filled with protest—Mmmph!
Yin Yixuan snorted from the side. “Even if you wanted to, I wouldn’t let my Ming Yu hypnotize you again.”
Lin Qingyou was confused. “Why?”
“Why?” Yin Yixuan sneered and pointed at Yin Hanyu. “Because your husband is an unreasonable, arrogant jerk who would totally harass a doctor.”
Yin Hanyu: “…”
Lin Qingyou: “…”
Ming Yu: “…”
“You’re the jerk,” Lin Qingyou shot back, glaring at Yin Yixuan. “And if you’re so ‘high-quality,’ then why are you insulting your own brother?”
Yin Yixuan: “…”
“You—”
Before he could say more, Yin Hanyu shot him a death glare.
Lin Qingyou still wanted to try again. She looked at Yin Hanyu with puppy-dog eyes.
“Just one more time? Pretty please~~”
“No. End of discussion.” Yin Hanyu was cold as steel.
“Hmph…” Lin Qingyou pouted, burying herself under the blanket, her cheeks puffed up in frustration.
Yin Hanyu sighed and reached out to poke the grumpy girl. “If this way doesn’t work, we’ll find another.”
“But what other way?” Lin Qingyou mumbled, her mood dampened.
Yin Hanyu, wanting to comfort her, gave her another solution.
“We’ll go to the Xiao family. We’ll find your grandfather.”
