Yin Yichen wanted to ask something, but Yin Hanyu tapped him on the head.
“Just eat your noodles properly.”
“Oh…” Yin Yichen finally started eating.
But as soon as he took a bite, he froze in shock.
“This…”
“It’s way too delicious!” Lin Qingyou finished his sentence for him.
Yin Yichen was too busy devouring his food to say anything more.
In just a few bites, he had polished off an entire bowl of spicy chicken noodles.
As he reached for a second bowl, Lin Qingyou stopped him on purpose.
“Didn’t you just say I ordered too much?”
“No, no! I can finish it all! I swear I can!” Yin Yichen quickly grabbed a bowl of mixed minced pork and pea noodles and started eating again.
It was just too good.
Seeing how much he was enjoying the food, Lin Qingyou’s eyes sparkled with mischief.
She deliberately added two extra spoonfuls of bright red chili peppers to the beef noodle soup in front of her before handing it to Yin Yichen.
“Yin Xiaosan, this is fresh chili beef noodles. I think it’s the best one. The more chili, the better! You have to try it!”
“Okay, okay! Thanks, Sister-in-law! Thank you!”
“Sis-in-law, you are the best, the absolute best!”
Yin Yichen was practically drooling as he eagerly took the bowl and started eating.
Then—
One bite sent fire straight to his brain.
His whole body felt like it was being set ablaze.
Lin Qingyou had expected him to spit it out, so she even took a step back just in case.
But Yin Yichen was a true foodie.
Even though it was incredibly spicy—so spicy that his lips swelled up—he still kept eating.
When he finally finished, he pitifully pointed at Lin Qingyou and tattled to Yin Hanyu.
“Brother, Sister-in-law bullied me! You have to do something!”
Yin Hanyu looked at Lin Qingyou with deep affection.
“You already said it—she’s my wife. A husband is supposed to listen to his wife. Why would I dare to interfere?”
Yin Yichen: “…”
Dare not???
Oh my god! How could someone be so proud of being a henpecked husband???
Lin Qingyou was very pleased with Yin Hanyu’s answer and grinned mischievously. She then kindly handed Yin Yichen a bowl of mushroom noodle soup.
“Since you’re my husband’s brother, I’ll help you out. Eat this, and the spice will go away.”
But this time, Yin Yichen no longer trusted her.
He refused to accept anything she gave him.
“Are you still denying that you’re stupid?” Yin Hanyu scoffed as he pushed the mushroom noodles in front of Yin Yichen.
“Just look at it. There’s no way this could be spicy.”
“Oh…” Yin Yichen hesitated, then finally picked up the bowl and started eating.
Sure enough, it wasn’t spicy.
In fact, the broth was rich and flavorful.
Yin Yichen was instantly won over again.
He looked at Lin Qingyou with admiration.
“Sis-in-law, you really know your food! This place is amazing! I have to come here more often.”
“Of course! I’ve been a foodie since I was a kid. I know all the best places to eat.” Lin Qingyou said proudly.
Yin Yichen nodded.
“I love eating too! I’d even travel across the country just for good food!”
Lin Qingyou scoffed.
“You call yourself a foodie? All you eat are overpriced fancy dishes or trendy internet-famous restaurants.”
“The real delicacies are hidden in tiny alleyways and hole-in-the-wall eateries. But you never even bother looking for them.”
She pointed at the noodle stall.
“Look at this place. The owner still hand-pulls the noodles. Every topping—beef, pork ribs, spicy chicken, ginger duck—is freshly stir-fried.”
“But those big chain noodle restaurants? They might look fancy, but their noodles are mass-produced by machines. Most of them just pour the same generic broth over pre-cooked noodles, making everything taste the same. It’s all appearance, no soul.”
Yin Yichen listened intently, nodding in agreement. He looked at Lin Qingyou with admiration.
“Sis-in-law, from now on, I’ll follow you whenever I eat!”
Lin Qingyou laughed.
“Yin Xiaosan, you’re like one of those kids who can be bribed with a lollipop.”
Yin Yichen: “…”
I am not! I’m super smart!
After finishing the meal, Lin Qingyou went to pay the bill.
Since they had eaten eight bowls of noodles in total, the stall owner was delighted and even gave Lin Qingyou a small bag of her favorite pickles as a gift.
Lin Qingyou happily accepted it and got ready to scan the payment code.
But Yin Hanyu stepped in first.
“I’ll pay.”
Lin Qingyou objected.
“No, I’ll pay!”
Yin Hanyu insisted.
“I’ll pay.”
Lin Qingyou wasn’t backing down.
“I’ll pay! I’ll pay!”
Yin Hanyu, now acting childish as well, argued back.
“I’ll—”
Before he could finish, Lin Qingyou shot him a sharp glare.
“I said I’m paying. End of discussion.”
Yin Hanyu: “…”
Yin Yichen, meanwhile, was still holding his bowl, hoping for more.
But he had already eaten four bowls, and he was too embarrassed to ask for another.
Yin Hanyu grabbed him.
“Go pay. Then you’ll have an excuse to keep eating.”
Yin Yichen: “…”
No way! He had to save his money for getting a wife!
After eating, Lin Qingyou dragged Yin Hanyu to the supermarket.
She claimed she needed to walk off the two bowls of noodles she had just eaten.
Yin Hanyu, of course, went with her.
But Yin Yichen, the clueless third wheel, continued to follow them.
So, whatever Lin Qingyou bought, Yin Hanyu made Yin Yichen carry.
By the time they finished shopping, Lin Qingyou had bought an overwhelming amount of snacks—beef jerky, potato chips, spicy strips, nuts, sunflower seeds, yogurt, and milk.
Yin Yichen had his hands full with two giant bags.
Seeing that he still didn’t get the hint, Yin Hanyu took an entire bag of snacks and hung it around Yin Yichen’s neck.
Yin Yichen: “…”
Am I still my brother’s little sweetheart? Or just a pack mule now?
“Sis-in-law, enough! I can’t carry any more!”
Lin Qingyou continued shopping, even picking out a hexagonal durian.
Yin Yichen’s eyes widened in horror. He mentally screamed, “Sis-in-law, don’t do this to me!”
Lin Qingyou: “…”
She finally noticed that Yin Hanyu was walking hands-free with his hands in his pockets, looking cool and detached.
Meanwhile, Yin Yichen was carrying so much he was bent over, struggling.
Lin Qingyou smacked Yin Hanyu.
“Why aren’t you helping your brother?”
Yin Hanyu replied lazily,
“Most younger brothers are great wingmen. But this one? He’s just a third wheel. I don’t need him. He’s annoying.”
Lin Qingyou: “…”
You can just abandon your brother like that???
Yin Yichen: “…”
Third wheel???
“Oh…” Yin Yichen suddenly realized the situation.
Ahhh! Brother, I didn’t do it on purpose!
He immediately tried to flee, but Lin Qingyou caught him.
“Yin Xiaosan, where do you think you’re going?”
“I won’t be a third wheel anymore! I’m leaving!”
Lin Qingyou shook her head.
“Fine, but before that, you have to help carry everything back first.”
Yin Yichen pointed at Yin Hanyu.
“But my brother is stronger than me!”
Lin Qingyou smirked.
“Your brother is a CEO. You’re better suited for manual labor.”
Yin Yichen: “…”
Dear heavens, what kind of unreliable brother and sister-in-law did I end up with???
In the end, Yin Xiaosan carried all the bags home, while his “unreliable” brother and sister-in-law happily fed each other spicy snacks.
Just as they got out of the elevator, they saw Ming Yu rushing toward them.
“There’s trouble—!”
