Chapter 120

When Song Haowen entered the classroom, it instantly became chaotic, with all the classmates rushing towards him, bombarding him with questions about his postgraduate entrance exam.

Even some classmates who had initially hesitated to apply were now surrounding him with envy, asking him numerous questions. He didn’t know how to respond to everyone’s inquiries at once and could only say that he hadn’t received the admission notice yet, and it was too early to talk about being accepted.

However, the crowd didn’t pay much attention to his explanation, and the commotion continued until the class begin.

Song Haowen had thought that once the class started, people would stop talking about this matter. To his surprise, the first words from the professor standing at the podium were a congratulations on his admission to the graduate program.

As a sophomore and a young student, getting accepted into the graduate program at Beijing University attracted the attention of the entire school, even more than the students in the science and technology university’s youth class.

However, the professor’s praise didn’t make him happy; instead, it added to his worries. What if he wasn’t admitted later? It would be quite embarrassing, and he feared he might have to bury his head in the ground.

Amid this anxious mood, Song Haowen attended two classes, not paying attention to the professor’s content but rather thinking about the noisy scene with his classmates. During the break, he even contemplated skipping class and returning to the business store.

Luckily, a savior appeared. At the beginning of the third class, Professor Jin delivered Song Haowen’s admission letter for the Master’s program at Beijing University.

The enrollment date was September 1st of the next semester. In front of the class, the professor announced that for the remainder of this semester, Song Haowen would continue as a student but without attendance requirements or class duties.

He wouldn’t participate in exams for the current courses. This announcement left his classmates envious and jealous.

With the admission letter in hand, Song Haowen’s anxious heart finally settled. As he received compliments, praises, and envy from his classmates, he no longer felt jittery but accepted it with composure.

However, in his moments of pride, the thought of not being with everyone next semester still made him a bit reluctant.

After the fourth class in the morning, a few classmates with good relationships with Song Haowen insisted on treating him. He didn’t hesitate and immediately took everyone to the nearest upscale restaurant off-campus, booking two tables for a joyous gathering.

Among the attendees were Ding Mo, Yu Guangzhong, Zhang Qiang, Sun Laixi, and Wu Sida, his roommates. There were also a few female classmates, including Zhu Hongyu and Ren Hua.

Since there were no afternoon classes, everyone was carefree, and by the end of the gathering, most students were either intoxicated, staggering around, engaged in lively discussions, dancing, or having a great time.

Song Haowen himself was quite drunk but managed to ask the waiter for the bill. If he had passed out completely, it would have been a challenge for the hotel staff.

After the feast, classmates departed one by one, and Zhu Hongyu and Ren Hua volunteered to accompany Song Haowen back home. When they saw Song Haowen stumbling and swaying, Wang Li was shocked.

Knowing it was because he had been accepted into the graduate program and his classmates had insisted on treating him, She felt a mix of sympathy and complaint. This made Zhu Hongyu and Narenhua blush with embarrassment.

The three of them busily arranged Song Haowen to lie down on the heated kang. Zhu Hongyu and Ren Hua, feeling a bit uneasy, chose not to return to school and stayed in the restaurant to help.

Ren Hua suddenly remembered the magpie she released in the morning and went to the courtyard to check. To her delight, the magpie hadn’t flown away and was still perched on a tree. No matter how she called or teased, the magpie ignored her, happily hopping around the branches.

The commotion in the courtyard caught the attention of Zhu Hongyu and Wang Li. They joined Ren Hua in the courtyard and found it amusing as Ren Hua shouting at the magpie.

Despite their enthusiastic efforts, the magpie remained indifferent, displaying an air of aloofness.

“You three girls are only interested in playing, and you don’t even care about the shop?” A cold voice suddenly interrupted their bird-play, startling all three of them. When they turned around, they saw Song Haowen, surprised and pleased. Wang Li wondered, “You were so drunk, and you’re awake already?”

Song Haowen proudly said, “What’s a little bit of alcohol?” It turned out that now, when he stopped practicing, his internal energy would automatically circulate continuously. When the internal energy circulated through his meridians, it helped him metabolize alcohol, making it easier for him to sober up after getting drunk.

“You’re just bragging! If it weren’t for me and Sister Zhu, you might still be snoring in the restaurant.” Ren Hua sarcastically remarked.

Song Haowen chuckled, “You heartless classmates. You made me treat you, then got me drunk. It’s not fun at all.”

Zhu Hongyu gave Song Haowen a disdainful look. “It’s not the wine that makes people drunk; people make themselves drunk. We’ve advised you countless times, but you never listen. You keep challenging classmates to drink, holding the hands of female classmates and bragging about getting into graduate school…”

“Oh, there’s that too? I don’t remember any of that.” Song Haowen blushed and didn’t want to dwell on his embarrassing behavior. He changed the topic, “What were you doing just now? Shouting at the tree?”

Ren Hua complained, “Your bird isn’t obedient.”

“What bird of mine?” Song Haowen asked in confusion, unable to recall the events of catching the magpie in the morning.

Ren Hua suddenly realized her slip of the tongue and blushed. “I mean… that magpie!” She pointed to the tree with her hand.

Song Haowen looked up and saw the magpie, suddenly remembering. “Hey, Little Magpie, why didn’t you leave? Are you reluctant to go?” After saying this, he noticed the magpie staring nervously at him without moving.

In astonishment, he made a beckoning gesture, and the magpie miraculously flew down to perch on his hand, this time without any exertion of internal energy.

The three girls, witnessing this magical scene, were all left dumbfounded. After a while, Wang Li muttered to herself, “No wonder Xiao Song could get into graduate school, and his luck has been off the charts… Turns out, the magpie came to bring him good news.”

“The magpie came and didn’t leave. It seems there will be more good news for little brother.” Ren Hua said with a serious expression.

Song Haowen chuckled. “When did you two become so superstitious?”

Zhu Hongyu laughed, “Don’t just say they are superstitious. Now, even I am superstitious. Because everything happening around you is too unbelievable. Besides luck, nothing else explains it.”

Song Haowen dismissively said, “You only see my good luck, but you don’t see the hard work behind it…”

“Cut it out! You’re just bragging!” The three girls scolded in unison, looking at him with disdain.

“Oh, Zhu Jie, Ren Jie, you’re here too?” Song Huaihua walked over at this moment. “I thought there was no one in the shop. Third brother, I didn’t see you in your class, so I guessed you must have come back to the shop. Sure enough, I find you here.”

“Second sister, do you need something?” Song Haowen asked.

“Big brother sent a letter, saying he has been transferred to the Beijing Garrison tonight and is planning to come home. Mom and dad asked me to call you back.” Song Huaihua said excitedly.

Upon hearing the news of his big brother’s return, Song Haowen suddenly felt a surge of excitement throughout his body. This was the first time he had seen his big brother since his rebirth, and he couldn’t help but be thrilled. Immediately, he grabbed his second sister’s hand and started heading out.

However, Song Huaihua pushed Song Haowen’s hand away, saying disdainfully, “Look at you, reeking of alcohol like a drunkard. How can you meet your big brother like this? Hurry up and wash, change into clean clothes!”

With this reminder from Song Huaihua, Song Haowen chuckled foolishly and quickly walked away to prepare for a shower.

Ren Hua smugly said, “See? I told you Little Brother had more good news coming. And here it is.”

Zhu Hongyu and Wang Li nodded simultaneously, acknowledging Ren Hua’s foresight.

Song Huaihua was completely confused by the three girls’ conversation. “What are you talking about? I don’t understand anything.”

Zhu Hongyu explained to Song Huaihua, “Do you know about your brother taking the postgraduate entrance exam?”

“Yeah. Why? Did the results come out?” Song Huaihua asked eagerly.

“Yes, this morning your brother received the admission letter,” Ren Hua continued.

“Really? That’s fantastic!” Song Huaihua was so happy that she almost jumped up. “That scoundrel, he got accepted and didn’t even tell me! I’ll see how I can tease him!” She ran to the bathroom door and knocked. “Third Brother, they say you got into graduate school. Is it true?”

Song Haowen was in the middle of showering, and initially feeling nervous at the knock, he relaxed when he heard his second sister’s voice. “Yeah, I just got the notice this morning.”

“Such a big deal, and you didn’t tell me?”

“I just haven’t had the chance.”

“Hmph, in your eyes, your real sister isn’t as important as your classmates. Wait until you come out, I’ll show you how to punish you.”

“Second sister, spare me this time, okay? I didn’t mean to.”

“You definitely meant to. Haven’t finished washing? Are you trying to peel off your skin or something?”

“It’ll be done soon. Second sister, don’t stand at the door. Go talk to those three for a while and wait for me over there.”

Bang! Song Huaihua kicked the bathroom door with her foot, scaring Song Haowen who let out a loud yell. She smugly hummed, turned around, and went back to the three girls who couldn’t help but laugh at her boldness.

Song Haowen didn’t dare to touch anything, quickly finished his shower, and after dressing up, he came out of the bathroom. Ignoring Song Haowen’s ears, Song Huaihua bent over and took the admission letter from his room, handing it to him.

She carefully read it, tears streaming down her face uncontrollably. She hugged him tightly, kissed his face repeatedly, and said, “Third Brother, you’re amazing. I’m so proud of you!”

Seeing the three girls standing at the doorway, dumbfounded, Song Haowen felt embarrassed. “Sis, let go. They’re all watching.”

Hearing this, Song Huaihua blushed, immediately letting go of him, but saying, “You’re my little brother, what’s wrong with hugging you? When you were little, I used to bathe you.” Hearing her words, Song Haowen wished the ground would open up and swallow him whole.
