Chapter 37

Song Haowen screamed in despair, “Nana, do you have a performance tomorrow? If you do, please tell the group. Even if I have to pay to perform, I must be on stage, show my face. Damn it, I don’t want to sing, and I’m being forced like this!”

“Yes, we do. Tomorrow, we have a performance at the Beijing Grand Theater, and it’s said that the national radio will broadcast it live. Although the program has been set for a long time and we’ve rehearsed, given your reputation and the fact that our choir songs don’t conflict with the theme of the event, the group and the organizers will definitely welcome the substitution of one of my solos with a duet performance. ” Tian Nana said joyfully.

Tian Yuxi chuckled.

“Little Song, is this your comeback?”

Everyone burst into laughter.

Song Haowen sighed heavily and said with despair, “My appearance this time is just to dispel rumors. Those rumors are disgusting. I think, one or two appearances should be enough.”

Qian Youlai asked, “Nana, are tickets being sold for tomorrow’s performance? I want to go with Lily to see your show.”

Tian Yuxi said, “I also want to go.”

Zhu Hongyu and Ren Hua both expressed their intention to attend.

Tian Nana shrugged and said, “No problem. As long as the little brother can get on stage, I’ll buy tickets and treat you all to watch.”

Everyone agreed unanimously.

By this time, the snow outside was gradually subsiding. Since everyone preferred not to go out for dinner, Song Haowen called Qian Youlai, and the two of them went to a nearby restaurant to buy seven or eight cooked dishes and brought them home. Everyone gathered around the fireplace, enjoying the snow scene, drinking red wine, eating heartily.

After dinner, Qian Youlai and Wang Li went home first. The Tian sisters, Zhu Hongyu, and Ren Hua formed a group to continue playing cards. Song Haowen served on the side, responsible for adding firewood and making tea.

Seeing that it was getting late, the four girls didn’t want to go out in the cold to return home, so they squeezed into the warm room and spent the night there. Song Haowen worked for an additional two hours in another room before finally going to sleep alone.

The next night, everyone went to the Beijing Grand Theater to watch Tian Nana and Song Haowen’s performance. When the announcer revealed the song “Morning on Campus,” the whole audience was in an uproar.

This wasn’t just because the program flyer didn’t list this song, but also because Song Haowen had taken a temporary hiatus, and rumors were rampant in society. Everyone wanted to know the truth.

After Tian Nana and Song Haowen finished singing “Morning on Campus,” the audience unexpectedly stood up, and thunderous applause filled the venue. Many spectators shouted “one more song” from below the stage, making Song Haowen, who was unprepared, feel awkward.

He thought to himself that if he ever took the stage again, he must prepare more songs.

Song Haowen’s comeback was highly successful, and the rumors about him naturally dissipated.

After returning home, he wrote down the male-female duets from his past life, such as “Grandma’s Penghu Bay,” “Meeting at the Obo,” and “Heart Rain,” and handed them over to Tian Nana for rehearsal. Once they performed these songs, they instantly became popular throughout the country, becoming well-known and beloved duets.

In reality, Song Haowen had many male solo songs in his mind. However, as he didn’t aspire to achieve much in the music industry and even if he chose male-female duets, it was mainly to assist Tian Nana.

He believed she was the true star, and he was, at best, just playing around.

Time passed quickly, and soon it was the end of the semester. Song Haowen easily completed the final exams and, due to his outstanding performance, was elected as an outstanding student.

After the winter break started, Song Haowen didn’t immediately return to his hometown in Jiangnan. After all, he had his electronics business in Beijing, and there was work that couldn’t be abandoned.

He planned to return on the 26th day of the twelfth lunar month and come back on the 6th day of the first lunar month. During the 30-day winter break, he intended to stay in Beijing for most of the time to work.

His dormitory mates, Ding Mo, Yu Guangzhong, Sun Laixi, Zhang Qiang, and Wu Sida, all went back to their hometowns on the first day of the winter break.

Na Renhua also returned to the northeast as soon as the break started, leaving only Zhu Hongyu deciding not to go home for the holidays, staying at the business store to help out.

For Tian Nana, the winter break was busier than usual. Her performance schedule was packed, with almost no free days. Except for the night of the 30th without a performance, even on the first day of the lunar new year, she had to participate in grassroots welfare performances.

Originally, Song Haowen was supposed to join her, but because he wasn’t under the management of the music school and wasn’t contracted with the song and dance troupe, he had the freedom to decline performance invitations.

Tian Yuxi, who originally had the most leisure time during the holiday, unexpectedly found that several students in her class were awarded a spot on fully-funded study abroad.

Based on next year’s TOEFL scores, students would fairly compete for the opportunity to study at prestigious foreign universities during their junior year and earn both a domestic and international bachelor’s degree upon graduation.

The whole class went crazy over this rare opportunity, and many chose not to go home for the holidays, staying at the school to study foreign languages.

Tian Yuxi, who was usually laid-back, had never seriously considered studying abroad, but seeing her classmates so enthusiastic, she couldn’t help but feel a competitive spirit rise within her.

She wanted to make a strong effort and strive for a chance to study abroad in the United States.
