Chapter 70
Finally, after more than an hour of repeated negotiations, a few executives agreed to sell the office building to Song Haowen. The only condition was that he needed to open another entrance on the southern wall, leading directly to the outside road, serving as a separate entrance for the music studio.
At the same time, a solid wall was to be built along the inside of the fence, completely separating it from the main courtyard.
The next morning, Manager Yu and an accountant, sent by Mr. Ma, accompanied Song Haowen to the Property Management Bureau to complete the property transfer procedures. When Song Haowen received the property and land certificates, he couldn’t help but feel overjoyed.
At noon, Song Haowen hurried to Tian Yuxi’s home to bid her farewell. When he arrived, Tian Nana was already there. She knew he had gone to the Property Management Bureau in the morning and asked how the procedures went.
He said, “Special matters require special handling; everything is settled.” In a few days, he would have someone build the wall and gate, and then he would give her a set of keys to the building. As he spoke, he took out the property deed and land certificate from his bag and handed them to her.
Tian Yuxi, sitting beside Tiana, was both surprised and envious to learn that Song Haowen had bought an office building that morning.
“Little Brother, you are truly a big tycoon now.”
Song Haowen chuckled and said, “Actually, Sister Nana is richer than me.”
Tian Nana immediately shook her head. “Although I have more than a million yuan in cash now, it’s just dead money sitting in the bank, not comparable to the real estate you’ve purchased. If your property really increase its price in the future, I won’t be able to catch up.”
“Then learn from me, buy a few properties and wait for them to increase its price,” Song Haowen earnestly advised.
“I want to, but my parents are stubborn and don’t approve. I can’t do anything about it,” Tiana said with a hint of frustration.
Tian Yuxi complained, “Na Na, this is the trouble of the wealthy. Look at me, I can’t even come up with two thousand yuan. I scraped together over a thousand yuan for going abroad, and if it weren’t for the state covering the travel and miscellaneous fees, I wouldn’t have been able to go abroad.”
Upon hearing this, Tiana was surprised and said, “I only have a little over a thousand yuan with me now. I’ll give you a thousand yuan as pocket money.” After saying that, she started searching for her wallet in her bag. Tian Yuxi quickly grabbed Tiana’s hand.
“Okay, okay! Stop, stop! I won’t take your money. Don’t worry, if I’m short on funds, I’ll ask my parents.”
Tiana said unhappily, “If you treat me like your sister, you must take this money. Unfortunately, I didn’t bring much today; it’s too little. I’ll make up for it tomorrow.”
Tian Yuxi firmly refused, “Even if you say all sorts of flattering words, I won’t accept it.”
Song Haowen chuckled, “Sis Xi, you’re being too polite. It makes me feel awkward about giving you money.”
Tian Yuxi’s eyes widened. “Song Haowen, if you want to give, go ahead. No matter how much, I’ll definitely accept it.”
Tian Nana was dissatisfied. “Sis, why do you accept his money and not mine?”
Tian Yuxi glanced at Tian Nana. “He owes me a big favor. Without me, how would he know the way to apply to Beijing University? Without me, how would he meet you, the big star? Without me, how could he become a popular figure in the music industry? Without me, how could he co-open a music studio with you…”
Tian Nana burst into laughter. “So, little brother must sponsor you…”
Song Haowen couldn’t help but laugh, “Big Sis, Come on Spare me. If you want money, just ask directly. So, how much do you want? As long as I can afford it, I must give it.”
Tian Yuxi sneered, “If I ask for a lion’s share, you might regret what you just said.”
Song Haowen solemnly said, “It’s okay, sis. Feel free to ask. With Nana as a witness, I won’t go back on my words.”
Tian Yuxi’s eyes twinkled. She pulled a pen from Song Haowen’s chest and said with a smile, “Forget it. I won’t ask for money. Give me this ‘Magic Pen of Ma Liang’ as a souvenir, let me bask in the brilliance of your genius too.”
Song Haowen deliberately sighed in relief. “Oh my, you scared me. I thought you were going to make me turn back into a poor guy.”
The two women burst into laughter.
At this moment, Tian Pengfei and Lin Min came out of the kitchen with dishes. Both of them took a few days off to see their daughter off to study abroad.
“Dinner is ready, dinner is ready,” Lin Min said to Song Haowen and the others. “Xi’er, do you have a performance tonight?”
“Yes. Auntie, I have a rehearsal at two o’clock in the afternoon,” Tian Nana replied.
“Then eat quickly. It’s already past twelve,” Tian Pengfei urged.
So, everyone sat down to eat, chatting as they enjoyed their meal. Midway through, Tian Nana checked her watch and stood up, saying, “It’s almost time. I’ll leave now.”
“You haven’t eaten enough yet,” Lin Min said in a hurry.
“I’m full, Auntie. I’ll leave now. You guys continue,” Tian Nana said as she walked towards the door. “Sis, what time is your flight tomorrow? I’ll come to see you off.”
“Don’t bother. Don’t go to the airport; even if you do, you might not see me. We have a group ticket, and a teacher from our school is leading the team. It’s very safe,” Tian Yuxi said, standing up and hugging Tian Nana’s shoulders. With everyone, she walked Tian Nana to the front door. Watching her reluctantly get into a taxi, they all returned to the house to continue eating.
“Little Song, do you have plans for the afternoon?” Lin Min asked.
“Not really.”
“Then accompany your sister to go shopping this afternoon. See if she needs to buy anything for the trip.”
“Sure,” Song Haowen readily agreed.
“No need, Mom. What can’t be found abroad? It’s not good to bring too many things,” Tian Yuxi said reluctantly.
“Silly girl, can’t you go out without buying something?” Lin Min sighed. “You won’t see each other again until two years later…”
Tian Yuxi’s face turned red, and she whispered comfortingly, “Mom, two years will pass by quickly.”
After lunch, Song Haowen accompanied Tian Yuxi aimlessly through the streets. Despite Song Haowen’s several attempts to give her money or buy her things, she refused.
He suggested watching a movie, but she declined. Seeing that she wasn’t in high spirits, Song Haowen eventually escorted her back home.
Although she invited him for dinner, he thought her family must have a lot to discuss, so he insisted on leaving.
Standing at the door, Tian Yuxi watched Song Haowen’s gradually receding figure, tears welling up in her eyes. Suddenly, she shouted:
“Younger brother, you won’t forget me, will you?”
Hearing the shout, Song Haowen’s heart suddenly ached. He turned back to Tian Yuxi, waved his hand, forced a smile, and said, “No, I won’t. I’ll always remember that you’re my best sister!” With tears in his eyes, he turned and walked away.
As soon as Song Haowen entered the office, Wang Li said to him, “Finally, I see your shadow today.”
Song Haowen awkwardly smiled and asked, “Li Jie, is there something you need?”
Wang Li widened her eyes. “I’m not looking for you. It’s your two female classmates looking for you.”
Song Haowen hurriedly went into the western room and said to the female classmates who were examining the TV circuit board, “Two beautiful ladies, is there something urgent you need from me?”
Zhu Hongyu breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Song Haowen return. “You finally came back.”
Song Haowen felt curious. “What’s going on? Did you encounter some Goldbach Conjecture?”
Ren Hua looked a bit frustrated and said, “Today is really unlucky. At noon, I short-circuited the circuit board of this TV, damaging several components. We’ve been studying for half a day and don’t know how to repair it. The customer came to urge us several times, and we can’t deliver it. We’re at a loss.”
Song Haowen chuckled, “Don’t worry. The master is here, and all problems will be solved.”
Zhu Hongyu scolded, “Don’t brag. Wait until you’ve seen the fault.”
Ignoring her, Song Haowen walked to the TV with a cheerful face, rolled up the sleeves of his short-sleeved shirt, and said to Ren Hua, “Great beauty, step aside. Master Song is here.”
“Cut it out! What Bragging Again!” the two girls scolded in unison.
Song Haowen took a look at the circuit board in the sunlight, measured a few points with a multimeter, immediately grasped the situation, held the soldering iron in his right hand, picked up a few diodes and transistors from the component box in his left hand, and immediately replaced the damaged components on the circuit board.
Then, he found a few resistors and capacitors, bridged them in the air on the circuit board, and in less than ten minutes, everything was okay.
Ren Hua immediately plugged in the power and signal for the TV. The screen blinked for a moment, then showed a normal image.
A middle-aged male announcer with a square face appeared on the TV screen, passionately reporting the grand blueprint of Pengcheng’s construction as a national-level development zone.
Ren Hua immediately smiled with joy, grateful as she kissed Song Haowen on the cheek, causing him to protest with a frown. Seeing him being so affected, Zhu Hongyu aimed a “Seven Injuries Fist” at his chest, making Song Haowen scream loudly.
Suddenly, the three of them started chasing and playing, creating a chaotic scene.
Seeing Song Haowen and the others having fun, Wang Li, with the intention of causing trouble, shouted, “There are guests coming!”
Song Haowen immediately stopped playing, ran to the living room, and asked, “Where are the guests?”
“They were scared away by you…” Wang Li didn’t finish her sentence and couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
Song Haowen was so angry that his nose twisted, and he said indignantly, “You three bad women, always bullying underage kids!”
“Pfft!” The three girls couldn’t hold back their laughter, and Zhu Hongyu even complained of a stomachache. Ignoring them, Song Haowen walked into the courtyard. Before reaching the canopy, he finally couldn’t help but burst into hearty laughter…
Early the next morning, Song Haowen hailed a taxi and headed straight to Beijing International Airport. Tian Yuxi’s Boeing aircraft was scheduled to depart at 9:30 in the morning.
When he arrived at the airport, it was still before 8 o’clock, and he estimated that they hadn’t arrived yet. He stood at the entrance of the airport, waiting.
After about half an hour, Song Haowen finally saw Tian Yuxi getting out of a taxi with her parents. He quickly went over to greet them. When Tian Yuxi saw him approaching, a warm feeling surged in her heart, and her eyes became a bit moist.
She quickly suppressed her emotions and expressed her gratitude to him. Lin Min and Tian Pengfei, seeing Song Haowen, both had relieved smiles on their faces.
