Chapter 3: Yan’yan, I Cherish You, Don’t Leave Me
People who have watched too many Korean dramas and read too many novels always envy the deep love others have. Now, she didn’t need to envy anymore; this man was hers!
More importantly, for some reason, looking at this man made her feel a heartfelt liking.
Kissing was something this man had always wanted to do, but in the early days of their marriage, the original owner said his breath smelled, and he never dared to kiss her again.
Zhao Yuanyi’s whole body stiffened, so frightened that he didn’t dare to move, letting Su Jinyan’s clumsy kisses and nibbles roam over him. She awkwardly pried open his teeth and sucked on his lips.
Su Jinyan was also unfamiliar with kissing and could only explore slowly.
Su Jinyan, who had been single for twenty years, thought this feeling wasn’t bad at all.
A grown man’s self-control in front of the woman he loved was zero. Once he came to his senses, he began a swift and forceful counterattack.
Soon, the temperature in the room rose, and Su Jinyan, who was being counterattacked, became shy, her body going weak and limp from the teasing.
“Yuanyi…”
She pushed him slightly with her hands and called out softly. The voice that came out even surprised her; it didn’t sound like her own.
Hearing her soft, delicate voice, Zhao Yuanyi became even more frantic.
“Yan’yan, I cherish you; I don’t want to be separated from you.”
“Yan’yan, please don’t leave me, okay?”
“I’ll go crazy…”
“I really will go crazy.”
As he spoke, drops of sweat from the man fell onto her face, making her heart ache with tenderness and attachment.
It was a seductive night.
It was also the beginning of a passionate and exhilarating love…
The next morning,
When Su Jinyan woke up, breakfast time had already passed. Zhao Yuanyi and the two children were gone.
The charcoal fire in the iron stove on the ground was burning vigorously, making the whole room warm.
Looking at the old newspapers pasted on the ceiling and walls, and recalling the unprecedented feeling of last night, she felt both happy and shy. The discomfort in her body made her face flush with heat.
However, thinking of Zhao Yuanyi, her heart felt very grounded and happy.
Hmm, this twenty-year-old virgin dog had finally escaped singlehood!
If she were in modern times, she would definitely gather a few girlfriends for a wild celebration!
After indulging in some beautiful memories, Su Jinyan lay in the quilt, recalling the content of the book. The original owner had left today. Less than half a month after returning home, her family’s nanny had taken advantage of her mother’s absence and climbed into her father’s bed.
The original owner had happened to have a gathering with some childhood friends that day. When she returned home, she heard muffled sobbing. She rushed over and saw her father drunk and unconscious, clothes scattered all over the floor and bed. The woman was crying and sobbing, saying that her father had gotten drunk and forced himself on her!
Whether it was true or not, the deed was done. The original owner immediately dragged the woman out of the quilt, wanting to settle it with money. But the woman cried, saying her chastity was gone, and she couldn’t remain faithful to her husband. She threatened to kill herself and make the whole village know if their family didn’t give her an explanation.
After the original owner’s mother found out, she could guess that her father had been framed. But what was the use of believing it? For her father’s future, she divorced him.
Otherwise, her father would not only lose his career but might also go to jail.
That woman then brazenly moved into their house with her seven or eight-year-old son.
But a month later, they found out that the woman was promiscuous and had somehow gotten pregnant. She had taken advantage of her father’s drunkenness to frame him.
In this era, a pregnant widow would be stigmatized and drowned in public scorn.
She had just married her father and was already more than two months pregnant.
Many people coveted the original owner’s father’s position, and his personal conduct was very important. Because of the divorce and immediate remarriage, her father was demoted two ranks and later faced constant setbacks and suppression from above, leading him to retire early and start a business.
Although later, Su’s father and that woman remained separated, he was never able to win back Su’s mother…
Su’s mother, heartbroken, immersed herself in research, while the original owner fought the mistress and her son every day, becoming exhausted and her studies declined significantly, almost preventing her from graduating.
She had to go back early, expose that woman’s conspiracy, and couldn’t involve the original owner’s family.
If she didn’t handle it well, the woman might turn around and accuse them, and it would be too late if she still clung to Su’s father.
The original owner’s parents loved each other very much, and their home was warm. She didn’t want it to be destroyed by an insignificant nanny.
Outsiders would believe rumors without checking the facts, not caring about the truth. They loved to watch a good drama, exaggerating everything. They could turn the dead into the living and fabricate definite lies!
Thinking of the book’s content, Su Jinyan quickly got dressed and got out of bed.
But when she got off the bed, she noticed that all the other bedding on the kang was neatly stacked on the kang cabinet, except for hers…
A recollection flashed through her mind: the original owner had rarely made her bed in the Zhao family.
She quickly climbed back onto the kang and folded the bedding. Zhao Yuanyi came into the room carrying a basin of washing water.
“Yan’yan, just leave it there. Come down and wash your face.”
Zhao Yuanyi’s whole face was beaming with happiness, his mouth practically stretching to his ears. The joy radiating from his very bones made her happy too.
Su Jinyan smiled and nodded, still stacking the bedding neatly and covering it with a cloth curtain. “Yuanyi, what time is it? Has the village oxcart left? Let’s go get our certificate.”
Zhao Yuanyi happily rubbed his crew-cut hair. “Third Grandpa isn’t taking the oxcart out today. I told him we were going to town, so he brought the oxcart back. I just need to give the ox two bundles of grass tonight.”
As he spoke, he took out a red cotton-padded jacket from the wardrobe. “Yan’yan, wear this later, okay? After we get our certificate, how about we go take a photo?”
They had been married for four years, but they hadn’t even taken a wedding photo.
Su Jinyan paused and said, “I want to go back to Beijing soon. It will take several days to get the photos after we take them, right? How about we get our certificate today and take photos when we get back to Beijing?”
Zhao Yuanyi paused, still insisting, “If we take it today, it’ll cost an extra five cents, and we can pick it up tomorrow.”
“Yan’yan, if we really go together, we’ll need a day or two to pack up the house.”
Su Jinyan nodded. It seemed this man really wanted a photo. Although she was anxious, she also knew that a family couldn’t just be abandoned without packing up.
They still had chickens and a pig at home.
Once they left this time, they didn’t know when they would return, so they should tidy everything up properly.
“Okay, good.”
Saying this, she sat on the edge of the kang and crooked her finger. “Yuanyi, come here and give me a hug.”
Zhao Yuanyi scratched his head, glanced out the window, and then nervously looked at the door before shyly walking over to Su Jinyan and picking her up like a child.
Su Jinyan was amused and giggled. He was so innocent.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist, lowered her head, and attacked his lips. She gently pressed her lips against his and then separated. “Hmm, what did you eat this morning? Why is it so sweet? Hmm?”
Zhao Yuanyi’s cheeks flushed red from the kiss. He was a little flustered, not understanding why his wife had suddenly changed.
“Yan’yan, you…”
What exactly was wrong with her?
Although he liked it very much, this sudden change made him feel a little uneasy.
Su Jinyan smiled and pinched his firm face, then sat back on the kang and said seriously, “Yuanyi, it turns out I was struggling with myself and couldn’t see things clearly. I felt that as a person from Beijing with a decent family background, marrying a country bumpkin like you was embarrassing. I was also worried that my parents would blame me. After all, when I came to the countryside, they repeatedly told me not to marry in the countryside. It wasn’t that they thought rural men were bad, but that people from two different places have different values in all aspects, and they were afraid I wouldn’t be happy in the future.
These past few days, I’ve thought a lot. Several educated youths in the production team who got married have abandoned their husbands and children and left. I also considered it.
But now that I’m about to leave, my heart suddenly opened up. I can’t be without you.”
“Yuanyi, I don’t know when, but I fell deeply in love with you, became dependent on you, and want to spend the rest of my life with you. What’s more, I can’t let my children be without a mother. Since we are destined to spend our lives together, then I naturally have to love you well.”
“I want you to get to know me again, to know this kind of personality of mine. I don’t know, do you like it?”
Zhao Yuanyi’s throat bobbed. After a long moment, he said in a hoarse voice, “I like you no matter what you’re like!”
