Chapter 10: The Second Black Wood Sculpture
“Rongrong, get up quickly.
We are all family. How can you, as an elder sister, kneel before your younger sister?” Zhou Weibei saw Zhou Rongrong kneeling down, and stood up to help her up out of heartache.
“Xiao Wan, it’s just a job. Since you don’t have to go to the countryside, just give the job to Rongrong.
She is a girl, and she can’t carry anything on her shoulders or carry a basket. She will definitely be bullied if she goes to the countryside.
You can’t just stand there and watch her die.” Zhou Weibei glared at Lin Weiwan, thinking that this younger sister was not good at all.
Her family members came to her for begging, but she just sat there and watched the joke like a dead person. When
Zhou’s mother heard what her son said, she was so angry that she was shaking. She really wanted to slap him.
What was this stupid boy doing? He didn’t even clean up his own ass, but he actually had the leisure to help Zhou Rongrong to ask Lin Weiwan for a job.
“Xiao Wan, give your job to Rongrong first. We are a family and we should work together when we encounter problems. I will find someone to use his connections to find a job for Rongrong and then give the job back to you.”
Zhou Weihai said earnestly. When he brought Rongrong back, he promised that she would treat the child well. Now she has to go to the countryside.
What if she is bullied?
Lin Weiwan looked at the Zhou family and couldn’t help but smile. “I can’t give up my job. I am an adult. If I lose my job, I will have no source of income. How can I live if I give up my job? I took a look in the afternoon and the rice in the kitchen was all gone.”
“What do you mean? Can’t our Zhou family support you? Isn’t this a discussion with you? Go and hand over your job to Rongrong tomorrow.”
Zhou Weihai was the leader for so many years. For the first time, someone opposed him. He immediately showed his leadership. Pointing at Lin Weiwan, he said.
“Pa…” Lin Weiwan slammed the chopsticks in her hand on the table.
“What qualifications do you have to order me? Don’t forget that my last name is Lin now.
Your family now lives in the Lin family’s house. If you are not legitimate, just be quiet and stop courting death all day long.”
Lin Weiwan looked at the Zhou family members at the table sarcastically.
Zhou Weihai was shocked. When he left home in the morning, he had agreed with Zhou’s mother that he would register Lin Weiwan in the Zhou family and change her last name.
Now that the matter has not been done, it is a bit embarrassing.
The Zhou family members did not expect Lin Weiwan to dare to resist and curse. At the beginning, they blocked Lin Weiwan after school and made a scene that everyone knew about it, so that Lin Weiwan could not explain herself and accepted this marriage.
They did not see Lin Weiwan lose her temper, and at most she shed some tears.
“Okay, what is the point of making such a fuss? Sit down and eat.” Grandpa Zhou slammed the chopsticks on the table to stop this farce.
Looking at Lin Weiwan’s indifferent expression from beginning to end, she was full of thoughts.
After dinner, Lin Weiwan went straight back to her room, ignoring the Zhou family members with different expressions.
Zhou Rongrong dodged Zhou’s mother’s gaze in fear, eating the rice in the bowl quickly, not daring to touch the vegetables.
Lin Weiwan sat at the desk without sleeping, arranging the letter papers on the table.
“Is Xiaowan asleep? I’m grandpa.” Grandpa Zhou stood at the door carrying a wicker suitcase.
Lin Weiwan stood up, thinking that it was Zhou’s mother or Zhou’s father Zhou Hai who came, but unexpectedly it was Grandpa Zhou.
The box on the table was opened, and inside was a set of gold-inlaid white jade headpieces, a string of glutinous ice jade necklaces, several agate bracelets, a pair of white jade bracelets, six small goldfish, and a black wooden sculpture.
Lin Weiwan looked at the box pushed over by Grandpa Zhou, “Grandpa, what do you mean by this?”
Grandpa Zhou looked at his granddaughter who had grown into a big girl in front of him, his eyes full of relief.
“My granddaughter is finally found, Grandpa is happy. This is your grandmother’s dowry. In those years, there were disasters and no food, so she sold a lot of things to exchange for food.
Now that the year is good, you are found again. Your grandmother said that these things should be kept for your dowry.”
Grandpa Zhou’s words were very long, as if every sentence was recalling a past event.
Lin Weiwan looked at the things in the box and closed the box directly, “Thank you, Grandpa, I accept this gift.”
In the previous life, after the Zhou family recognized the relatives, Lin Weiwan had never seen this box of things.
“Wanwan, Grandpa has something to tell you.” Grandpa Zhou felt that only he could say this matter with the highest success rate. After all, Lin Weiwan only had him in his memory.
Even if Chen Suyun and the others were enthusiastic, I’m afraid this matter would not be successful. “Grandpa, you say.” Lin Weiwan sat and looked at Grandpa Zhou.
“We are the only brothers and sisters in the Zhou family. Grandpa loves you. Now your little brother is sick. You should have heard it just now.” As Grandpa Zhou spoke, his cloudy eyes kept staring at Lin Weiwan’s expression.
Lin Weiwan nodded without any resistance.
“Xiaobei is a miserable child. He is only 18 years old now… Xiaowan, you must help him for the sake of family.” Grandpa Zhou choked up when he talked about his little grandson.
His eldest grandson just graduated and has not yet married and had children to start his real life.
“Me? I can’t treat illnesses. My second brother is a doctor, what does he say?” Lin Weiwan pretended to be stupid and looked at Grandpa Zhou.
“Hey… the doctor said that your fourth brother has a problem with his kidney and needs a transplant. If it can be a brother or sister, the success rate will be much higher.
You also know that your eldest brother is in the army. If he loses his kidney, he will definitely not be able to develop.
Your second brother is now in the right time to start his career, and there can be no mistakes.
Your third brother has been in the countryside for a few years. I believe you also know how life is in the countryside.
Even if you let your third brother come back, I’m afraid his physique will not be good. Rongrong is not from our Zhou family.
Grandpa wants to use me, an old man, but the doctor said that your father and I are old, and even if I use it, it may not be effective. Your fourth brother will not last long after a surgery in vain.”
Grandpa Zhou said this and looked at Lin Weiwan, hoping that Lin Weiwan would volunteer to agree.
Lin Weiwan smiled, “This is easy to do. Anyway, my parents have four sons and two daughters. Losing one is not a big deal. At worst, we can have another one later.” When
Grandpa Zhou heard Lin Weiwan’s words, he was choked up and almost died.
As soon as she stretched out her shaking finger to Lin Weiwan, Lin Weiwan pressed it down.
“Haha… Grandpa, I was just kidding you. I feel sorry for my fourth brother too.”
“He’s so young, what’s he going to do in the future?”
Grandpa Zhou calmed down and looked at Lin Weiwan with hope in his eyes.
“Xiao Wan, good child, grandpa knows that you are the kindest. Grandpa promises that your brothers will take good care of you in the future and won’t let you suffer any grievances.
Your brothers and your mother’s family are your biggest supporters.”
Grandpa Zhou looked at this beautiful granddaughter with satisfaction.
