Chapter 24: Who is the most filial
Zhou Weinan was not at home at this time, and the only sound in the house was the scolding of Mrs. Zhou.
When she saw Lin Weiwan coming down, her inverted triangle eyes stood up.
“You jinx, you haven’t had a smooth life since you came back to your Zhou family. What are you doing carrying a bicycle?
Why don’t you sell the bicycle? All the things at home are lost. Hurry up and sell the bicycle and buy things at home.”
Mrs. Zhou looked at the bicycle pushed by Lin Weiwan, and she thought that it should be able to sell for more than a hundred yuan.
Lin Weiwan looked at Mr. Zhou who was lying on the side with only a bed sheet under him. It seemed that his condition was quite serious, with a crooked mouth and slanted eyes and drooling.
“What are you looking at? Hurry up and wipe your grandfather’s face and clean up. Fourth brother, come here and take this bicycle out to sell.”
Mrs. Zhou was not tall, and she held her waist with both hands and spoke in a surprisingly loud voice.
Zhou Weibei glanced at Lin Weiwan, and was a little afraid to move forward. The place where he was kicked last time was still painful.
“You damned thing, there’s nothing left at home, what are you waiting for?” Old lady Zhou looked down on her fourth grandson’s cowardly look, and slapped Zhou Weibei on the back. She wanted to slap the back of his head, but the grandson was too tall for the old lady to reach.
“Why, haven’t you been beaten enough?” Lin Weiwan looked at Zhou Weibei with contempt.
Now that he was strong, the Zhou family was no match.
Zhou Weibei was looked at by Lin Weiwan, and he didn’t care how old lady Zhou yelled at him, and ran back upstairs.
Lin Weiwan grinned and pushed his bicycle out the door.
Lin Weiwan decided to buy a few more sweaters and cotton today. It’s always good to have more things. The countryside is remote, and things are definitely not complete. The things in his space are too different from this era.
The Zhou family has a lot of things, but Lin Weiwan looked down on them and felt disgusted. It would be better to find a place to sell them on the black market to exchange for money.
If he didn’t exchange them for money, he could exchange them for some fine grains, pork, and poultry.
Thinking of this, Lin Weiwan thought about whether it was possible to raise living things in the space, and planned to find a way to get a living thing into the space to try.
The time for going to the countryside has been set for August 25th, and there is still more than a month. Lin Weiwan is going to prepare everything for the countryside. Things in the sea market are easy to buy, as long as you have money and tickets.
It may not be the case when you arrive in the countryside, so it is better to prepare more now, and wait until October 1977 when the college entrance examination will be resumed.
Lin Weiwan decided to stop by the bookstore for a walk.
Ye Jibai went out and looked at the back of the happy departure. The corners of his mouth could not help but slightly rise, and he said goodbye to the Qin family.
Lin Weiwan squeezed into the supply and marketing cooperative as soon as the door opened. The two supply and marketing cooperatives finally collected 26 kilograms of cotton with yesterday’s cotton.
He bought two sweaters and two pairs of dark gray corduroy pants at the ready-made clothing store, and handed in the fabric to the tailor to order five pairs of black twill cotton pants, five pairs of black plain cotton pants, five pairs of black wool pants, and ten long-sleeved shirts.
These plus the original clothes should be enough. Lin Weiwan plans to make four sets of cotton-padded clothes with the remaining fabric. Two thick and two thin.
Lin Weiwan rode his bike to the bookstore and read through the rows of books. As long as he thought he could use them, whether it was high school books, basic training books, or exercise books, Lin Weiwan took them all. Finally, he went to check out with a large pile of books.
He rode his bike to the state-owned restaurant. Now that the family had run out of food and the Zhou family’s money had been turned over, he was afraid that there would be a fierce battle when he returned home tonight.
Lin Weiwan planned to stock up some food in the space every time he went out. Although his own cooking was more delicious, recently Lin Weiwan not only read books but also learned some self-defense boxing and kicking skills from the computer he found in the bedroom.
There was not enough time to cook.
It was Lin Weiwan’s turn to take a look at the dishes on the small blackboard. “Comrade, please give me two servings of fried garlic sprouts with meat, two servings of braised hairtail, ten steamed buns and ten meat buns to take away.”
After saying this, Lin Weiwan handed over the money, food coupons and the lunch box in the cloth bag.
After hearing Lin Weiwan’s order, the whole state-owned restaurant fell silent. Whose prodigal son has escaped?
Several young men looked at Lin Weiwan with fiery eyes. They were eager to try, wondering if they could have a chance to catch this big fish.
Carrying a heavy cloth bag, Lin Weiwan left like the wind, ignoring the few people approaching behind him.
After riding his bicycle several times, there were only a few tickets and twenty yuan left in the cloth bag that Lin Weiwan boasted about.
He also bought twenty feet of cotton cloth at the nearest supply and marketing cooperative, which cost four corners a foot. He spent a total of eight yuan and two cloth coupons of ten feet.
He planned to make a thick quilt for himself when he had time. He found a place to store it in his space.
The big city of Haishi has the advantage that there are many supply and marketing cooperatives and grain stations.
Lin Weiwan visited every area, and the tickets in his pocket became fewer and fewer, while the things in his space became more and more full. He could visit three state-owned restaurants in a day.
Many of the clothes at home are fancy and bright in color. Now that my body has been transformed by the spiritual spring water, my skin is white and tender.
I used to look beautiful in bright and colorful clothes, but now they stand out too much and are a bit out of place.
After all, people now wear patched clothes, not to mention that most people wear ordinary clothes.
Riding a bicycle, the summer sun hits my body and waves of heat hit my face. Most people walk on the way back this time, and not many people ride bicycles.
There are even fewer cars passing by, which is not something that ordinary people can do.
When I arrived at the entrance of the department store, Lin Weiwan found a place to lock the bicycle and walked in with a cloth bag.
Last time, I only sold cloth and planned to come back to buy some things, but I had a fight with the Zhou family.
Even in the summer, there are still many people in the department store, and it is noisy and lively.
Standing in front of the ready-made wardrobe counter, Lin Weiwan looked around and said, “Hello, comrade, please give me that black turtleneck sweater, the beige turtleneck sweater and the gray knitted sweater.”
Lin Weiwan picked out three sweaters and paid for them. She also bought three pounds of black, off-white and gray wool yarn.
If you don’t know how to knit, you can learn slowly. When you go to the countryside in winter, you can knit scarves and hats for yourself in addition to reading books.
There are too many things. Lin Weiwan went out for a while and threw the things into the space.
Then he ran back with two canvas bags and bought vanishing cream, towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, tooth cups, bee flower sandalwood soap, sulfur soap, fan brand laundry soap, soap box, vanishing cream, hair bands, lighthouse brand shampoo, clam oil, colorful balsam, toilet paper, menstrual belt, two soaps.
Needle and thread, elastic band, pillowcase, bed sheet.
Rubber shoes, cloth shoes, leather shoes, Warrior shoes, rain boots, thick cotton shoes, two pairs each.
Candles, flashlights, flashlight bulbs, batteries, sunflower kerosene lighters, Phoenix brand flints.
Lin Weiwan left the department store carrying two full canvas bags, her clothes soaked with sweat.
