Chapter 3: Rebirth
One year, two years, five years, ten years, twenty years, fifty years, until she watched Zhou Rongrong die of old age.
Lin Weiwan went from anger at first, to despair, and then to calmness.
“Dongdong…Dongdong…Xiaowan, get up quickly, the food will get cold. I have to move my luggage in later.” Zhou Rongrong’s voice came faintly from the door.
The girl on the bed frowned, and her white jade-like face was covered with sweat. She sat up suddenly and opened her starry eyes.
Looking at the familiar bedroom, Lin Weiwan’s eyes were full of disbelief and took a deep breath.
Hearing Zhou Rongrong’s voice, Lin Weiwan looked at the door with a knife-like gaze. He was reborn.
“Oh.” Lin Weiwan responded coldly. He got up and walked to the desk.
Looking at the calendar, July 13, 1974, he was reborn to the Zhou family to recognize his relatives and move in. It was still a little late, and this family had already moved in.
“Then hurry up, I have something else to do after I move.” Seeing that Lin Weiwan refused to agree to her move, Zhou Rongrong glared at Lin Weiwan’s door.
Last night, after much persuasion from Zhou’s father and mother and herself, Lin Weiwan finally agreed to let her move into this big bedroom.
As a result, she couldn’t get up in the morning and had to be woken up by herself. She really treated herself like a young lady. Zhou Rongrong walked downstairs slowly.
The summer breeze blew in from the window. Lin Weiwan opened the closet, looked up at the two locked suitcases on the top floor of the closet, took out a white and fine-striped braid from the hanger and tied it with a green belt.
Her hand touched her empty neck, and after searching around for a while, she remembered that the black jade bead should have fallen into Zhou Rongrong’s hands, and she had to take her things back. That bead was very strange.
In her previous life, she watched Zhou Rongrong use the space bead she got from her to run back and forth in the market to resell things and pretend to be treasures. In this life, she must not let her get away with it.
After washing up, Lin Weiwan walked down the stairs. Looking at the people who were already sitting in the restaurant, her face was calm.
But she couldn’t help but clench her hands tightly. No one could be too calm when seeing the person who killed her.
“You are just an uneducated girl. You don’t get up early to cook, and you make everyone wait for you.”
Mrs. Zhou looked ugly. Seeing Lin Weiwan walking down the stairs slowly, she looked down on her and cursed.
It was completely different from the day she recognized her relatives.
“Mom, don’t say that. Xiaowan is young. When she grows up, she will naturally learn these trivial tasks. Xiaowan, come and sit down.”
Zhou’s mother Chen Suyun stood up to welcome Lin Weiwan over, and took Lin Weiwan’s hand to the restaurant with a loving mother’s look.
Lin Weiwan sat between Zhou’s mother and Zhou Rongrong, opposite to the old man Zhou and his wife, and next to him was Zhou’s eldest son Zhou Weibei.
Zhou’s father and Zhou Weinan were not there. They probably went to work at this time.
Even though it was already past eight o’clock, the few of them were starving, but they didn’t touch the food on the table, and were determined to wait for Lin Weiwan to get up and eat together.
Lin Weiwan’s eyes moved, and she realized that the family would still think of waiting for her to eat together, and then she suddenly realized that Zhou Laosi’s kidney had not been transplanted yet.
“Everyone is here, let’s eat.” Grandpa Zhou’s face was normal and nothing could be seen, and he took the lead in moving his chopsticks.
Zhou’s mother picked up a chopstick of scrambled eggs for Lin Weiwan and put it in Lin Weiwan’s bowl, “Xiao Wan, you must be hungry, come and try this dish made by mom.”
Lin Weiwan looked at the white rice and four dishes on the table. In this era, even working families have to think twice before eating a good meal, and in the morning they have to make do with porridge and side dishes.
Don’t think about it. Most of the food is the fine grains that they originally kept in the kitchen.
The Zhou family is really shameless to use their own fine grains to do favors. Now everyone who doesn’t have a job can buy a fixed amount of 24 kilograms of food with tickets every month, and only those who have a job can buy 30 kilograms, and the ratio of fine grains to coarse grains is 3:7.
Pick up the chopsticks and eat directly, waiting for the Zhou family’s good show to start.
Seeing that Lin Weiwan did not refuse her, Zhou’s mother also picked up the rice bowl and started to eat. She was really hungry after preparing the meal all morning.
Halfway through the meal, Zhou’s mother sobbed, from small to large.
Zhou Rongrong quickly put down her chopsticks and took out a handkerchief to wipe Zhou’s mother’s tears, “Mom, don’t be sad, the fourth brother’s situation is still uncertain, let’s go to a few big hospitals to see, there must be hope.”
Zhou Weibei looked at the half bowl of white rice with some reluctance and put down his chopsticks. He secretly glanced at Lin Weiwan and stood up and walked to Zhou’s mother.
“Mom, don’t cry, you see, I’m fine now, even if the results of this examination are not good, I don’t feel very bad. Our family is together and we have found a sister. You should be happy.”
Grandpa Zhou and Mrs. Zhou also put down their bowls and chopsticks, looking at each other with sad faces.
Lin Weiwan continued to pick up the dishes and took a bite, putting the last mouthful of rice in the bowl into his mouth and chewing slowly.
After so many years of wandering, she couldn’t eat so many delicious foods, and couldn’t even smell them. God knows how greedy she is.
The mother and her two children on the side almost couldn’t continue the performance when they saw Lin Weiwan didn’t show any reaction.
No matter how good the play was, it would be boring if that person didn’t take over.
Seeing Lin Weiwan’s indifference, Mrs. Zhou was furious and slammed the table.
“Your mother cried like this, and you didn’t try to persuade her. I’ve never seen you act like a daughter like this.”
Lin Weiwan swallowed the food in her mouth and wiped the corner of her mouth, looking at the mother and her two children who were snuggling together on the left.
“I’ve never been raised. I’ve been brought up by Grandpa Lin all these years. Naturally, I can’t act like a daughter. Take your time, don’t rush.”
After saying that, Lin Weiwan turned her head and looked at Zhou’s mother.
“Mom, don’t be too sad. Zhou Weibei’s illness won’t be treated in a day or two. It’s not a good hospital.” Lin Weiwan’s eyes turned from Zhou’s mother’s face to the black jade beads hanging around Zhou Rongrong’s neck.
“Hey… not yet…” Chen Suyun’s heart moved, and she finally answered. What a cheap bitch, she won’t leave until she is beaten.
“Isn’t this my necklace? Why is it hanging on your neck?” Lin Weiwan interrupted Zhou’s mother’s prepared words and stared at Zhou Rongrong.
Just now in the bedroom, Lin Weiwan found that her neck was empty, and then she remembered that after the first day of recognition, Zhou’s mother took the black jade bead necklace to look at it.
In the previous life, it was never returned to Lin Weiwan. It was not until after death that she found out that Zhou Rongrong had been using her black jade beads to collect things, like a magic trick.
When Zhou Rongrong heard what Lin Weiwan said, she subconsciously hid behind Zhou’s mother.
Since she was assigned to the same class with Lin Weiwan in high school, Zhou Rongrong liked the black jade beads that Lin Weiwan wore very much.
Even if she hated Lin Weiwan in her heart, she continued to make friends with Lin Weiwan, hoping that Lin Weiwan would give her the necklace.
I finally got it from Zhou’s mother yesterday and took it with me. I felt so happy that I even slept well.
I looked much better when I woke up this morning.
