Chapter 70: Digging for Ginseng
Zhou Rongrong felt that, of the five people in this room, except herself, any of the four people could have taken the bead.
She stayed up so late and slept very soundly afterwards. When she woke up this morning, she felt pain all over her body and her waist felt like it was broken.
“Rongrong, didn’t you get enough rest? You have such dark circles under your eyes.” Shen Shili looked at Zhou Rongrong who was listless beside him and asked with concern. “
Brother Shili, I’m too tired. I want to go home.” Zhou Rongrong felt that her calves were hard and her stomach was aching.
She bent down to cut sweet potato vines all day yesterday, and then it was her third brother who came to help her pick the sweet potatoes to the drying yard.
“Then let’s ask the village chief today if we can assign you an easier job.”
Shen Shili looked at the blisters on his palms and his shoulders were also burning with pain.
I don’t know when my father will figure it out and transfer him back. Thinking of this, Shen Shili looked at Lin Weiwan who was washing up. It was all her fault.
Zhou Rongrong looked up and happened to see Shen Shili looking at Lin Weiwan, and her face suddenly became ugly. Lin Weiwan’s presence is an uncertain factor.
Hu Xiaopang and Shen Minghua were both sleeping in. Ye Jibai had a bite of food and left the educated youth point, and no one knew where he was going.
Everyone was in a hurry to go to work. Lin Weiwan returned to the room, glanced at Wang Qiaoyun who was still sleeping, took out a bamboo basket and went to the back mountain.
On the ridge, today’s task was still to pick sweet potatoes. Shen Shili accompanied Zhou Rongrong to the team leader.
“Captain Zhao, Zhou Rongrong is weak and has no strength. Can you give her a lighter job, such as picking grass for pigs or feeding pigs?”
Shen Shili took out a pack of Dalizhu cigarettes from his arms. He remembered to get it before leaving.
Thinking of the high-end cigarettes piled up at home before, he felt distressed.
Zhao Dezhu looked at the silly boy in front of him and smiled, “Take it back. Do you want me to make a mistake in broad daylight? You want to relax? Go home and lie down and relax.
You are here to receive re-education from poor and lower-middle peasants. Why do you go to the countryside if you are afraid of hardship and fatigue?
Feeding pigs is the work of the children in the village. If you do it, what will the children do?
I have never seen you so shameless. Get out of here and do what you should do.”
Shen Shili’s face was ugly after being scolded by Zhao Dezhu.
He didn’t accept the cigarettes he was given because he didn’t like them. “Captain, I… I really can’t do this job.” Zhou Rongrong shed two tears of grievance, and the tears hung on her face just right.
She raised her hands to show Zhao Dezhu that there was a layer of blisters on her palms, which were red and swollen.
“Don’t play that with me. You think the brigade is yours and you can do whatever you want. If you don’t work, I’ll send the scorekeeper.”
Zhao Dezhu despised this crying girl the most. She really thought that she could avoid working by hanging a few cats.
Shen Shili had no choice but to leave with Zhou Rongrong in disgrace.
On the back mountain, Lin Weiwan was going to shoot some pheasants. Last night, the fat man Shen Minghua and others helped. Saying a few words of thanks was a bit empty. It would be better to get some meat.
He picked up a lot of stones along the way. When he was sure that there was no one around, he collected some dead trees into the space to burn in the winter when the house was built.
He didn’t see the pheasants, but walked farther and farther. On the way, he found some fungus and a chestnut tree.
After confirming that there was no one nearby, Lin Weiwan shamelessly collected the whole chestnut tree into the space. He also buried the pit in a way that destroyed the corpse.
At noon, he was hungry, so he took the buns he bought from the state-owned restaurant from the space and ate them.
The autumn wind was blowing, and the temperature in the forest was just right. Seeing the few dead branches on the ground, Lin Weiwan took another path and walked to the west.
The forest to the west looked emptier, but what if there were any pheasants?
After walking for more than two hours, Lin Weiwan noticed that a gust of wind blew over the hillside not far away, and there were faint red dots.
He hurriedly ran up the hillside, and then his feet were empty, and he fell down, entering the space at the last moment.
His heart was finally at ease. Seeing that there was only more than one meter to the ground, and making sure that the surroundings were safe, Lin Weiwan put the bamboo basket in the space and jumped down.
Looking at the cliff that was more than six meters high, he was scared. If it weren’t for the space, falling from this cliff would be either dead or injured.
After turning around, he found that the red dots he had just seen were gone, and the grass under his feet was half a meter high.
After thinking about the direction for a while, Lin Weiwan took out a wooden stick and a hatchet from the space, tied them up with a rope, and used a dagger to dig up the grass on both sides every two steps.
To prevent snakes or other things from coming out.
Looking up, the trees at the bottom of the hillside are much taller than those above, and the terrain here gives people an illusion that this is a big hillside and dense forest.
After walking more than 20 meters, Lin Weiwan saw the piles of small red fruits again.
There are fewer trees in front of the hillside on this side, and the sunlight is sufficient.
As expected, I was not mistaken. It is ginseng, and it is a piece of ginseng.
I don’t know how many years no one has been here. The seeds of ginseng matured and fell to the ground, gradually becoming a piece.
Looking closely, there are many three-flowered and palm-sized ones, and there are even more five-leaf and six-leaf ones. It seems that there are at least thirty or forty big clubs.
(Piye is a kind of leaf, which is called this in northeast Jilin.) I didn’t want to explain it separately, for fear that you would see a drama, hahahaha.
With such a large area of ginseng, there should be one or two ginseng kings.
Lin Weiwan looked carefully, but didn’t see any. He thought that there should be ginseng seeds that fell in this field.
If he only dug up the ginseng on the surface, it would be a bit of a waste.
If he moved the entire ginseng field, including the ground ginseng, into the space, wouldn’t it be better?
Thinking of this, Lin Weiwan hurried into the space tool room to look for any larger tools. After looking around, there were either shovels, rakes, hammers, saws, crowbars, wrenches, pliers…
Lin Weiwan walked around in the wooden house, looking at the neatly arranged and diverse tools, but he couldn’t pick out any that could be used.
Her eyes swept to the ground next to the wall, and his eyes suddenly lit up, steel plates.
Ginseng is usually only a dozen centimeters long, and wild ginseng like this will not grow too long because of the harsh conditions in the wild, usually only about ten centimeters.
Including the whiskers, it is expected to be no more than thirty centimeters. If the soil next to it is dug up, it is not impossible to bring the entire ginseng field into the space.
Ordinary people may not be able to do it, but after drinking the spiritual spring water for so long, I should be able to do it.
If I can’t scoop it all at once, I can divide the entire six or seven meter ginseng field into several scoops.
All I need is a steel plate, a big hammer and endless strength.
Once I think it through, I act. I put on gloves and took out a shovel from the space and started digging a hole 20 centimeters away from the outermost small mountain ginseng.
I dug a half-meter deep hole before stopping, drank a few sips of spiritual spring water, and took out the steel plate to prepare to start.
Lin Weiwan touched a few mountain ginsengs, closed her eyes and sensed them, slowly releasing her spiritual sense to follow the stems and leaves of the ginseng downwards, and the appearance of the short and fat mountain ginseng in the soil gradually appeared clearly in Lin Weiwan’s mind.
