Chapter 18
The family of Tian Shang was full of gossip and trouble. As Liu Yu’s family of four returned home, they saw Chen Shi.
She was sitting on a small stool, holding a cane, her back hunched, her face dark and gloomy. As soon as she saw Liu Jianjia, she exploded in anger, “How did I end up with such a bastard child like you! You scoundrel, how dare you bully your brother!”
The more Chen Shi spoke, the angrier she became. She stomped her little feet, grabbing her cane, and started hitting Liu Jianjia. Her precious youngest son, who was as valuable as a pearl in her hand, had been bullied by the eldest!
“Mother!”
In front of his mother, Liu Jianjia didn’t dare to dodge and endured several hits from the cane.
Nie Xiaocui couldn’t just stand there and watch her husband get beaten. She hurried over to pull him away from the beating.
Liu Yu and Liu Ye couldn’t sit idly by either. The two of them went forward, one pulling her mother’s legs and the other pulling her arms, and in a few moves, they managed to separate Chen Shi from Liu Jianjia, temporarily stopping the beating.
But Chen Shi’s mouth didn’t stop; she kept spitting out curses, “You useless eldest son, how dare you bully your brother! I’ll beat you to death!”
“Mom, stop! How can you beat your son like this!”
Nie Xiaocui protected her husband behind her, while she shouted back at Chen Shi.
Nie Xiaocui had already heard about the events from her son and daughter earlier. She was a sensible woman and knew that the third family was full of troublemakers. If they overstepped, they shouldn’t expect any kindness. Her daughter had done the right thing! The old lady had always favored the third child, and Nie Xiaocui had long known this. Although she was angry, there was nothing she could do about it. But the mistake didn’t lie with her husband, and it was disheartening that Chen Shi still acted this way.
“You old hag, you filthy woman, do you have any business sticking your nose into this? Get out of here!”
Chen Shi was furious, swinging her cane again, aiming at Nie Xiaocui.
When the young ones can’t do it, let the old ones step in!
She knew her husband was a mild-mannered man who would never go against Chen Shi. But having Chen Shi dragged out like this, Liu Laosan (Liu Jianjia) truly had no shame!
Liu Yu couldn’t take it anymore and snatched the cane from Chen Shi’s hand. She broke it in half by forcing it against her knee and threw the pieces aside, shouting, “Shut up! Liu Laosan, you two get out here!”
Liu Jianmin and his wife had been hiding inside, watching the drama unfold. Hearing their names being called, they shot a glare at Liu Yu and then opened the door, stepping out together.
When Chen Shi saw her son, her gaze immediately shifted to her youngest son. “Didn’t I tell you to rest inside? Why are you out here? You’ve already suffered from your older brother, let me teach him a lesson for you!”
Liu Jianmin walked over to Chen Shi, crouched down, and rubbed his big head against hers like a child. He spoke in a whiny tone, “It’s just that my older brother is bullying me and Liu Li. Mom, I just wanted him to give me some work points. After all, we haven’t split the family. If the work points go up, the benefits naturally come to our family! I’m thinking about the family!”
Chen Shi stroked her youngest son’s head and shot a sideways glance at Liu Jianjia, “Oldest, kneel down for me!”
Without hesitation, Liu Jianjia kneeled down. Liu Yu felt a headache coming on. Her father had such a typical people-pleasing personality. It was enough! She had to help her mother-in-law, Nie Xiaocui, get her father back on the right path!
While soothing her youngest son, Chen Shi started lecturing, “Oldest, let’s talk reasonably! You’re an official now, all you have to do is not something down in that little notebook! Who would dare to stop you? It’s such a small matter! Why do you have to make it so difficult for your brother? What’s the big deal?”
