Chapter 25
Liu Yu returned to her room, locked herself in, and didn’t emerge even by the next morning. Nie Xiaocui thought she was sulking over Bai Xueling’s drama.
But that wasn’t the case. Liu Yu had been fully immersed in studying the Treasure Basin.
Inside the basin was a pile of golden corn kernels, bright and cheerful to look at!
As she had suspected, the Treasure Basin could replicate any type of grain. Liu Yu grinned from ear to ear. With ten full pounds of corn, even accounting for some loss when grinding it into cornmeal, it would be enough to feed her family for several days.
She grabbed a cloth bag, poured the corn into it, and tied it tightly. She left a small handful of kernels in the basin so the Treasure Basin could keep working.
After hiding the grain, Liu Yu began to worry. The basin’s ability to produce grain was impressive, but her small room couldn’t hold much. If anyone found out she had grain, with Chen Shi’s personality, she’d outright steal it.
“If only there were a hidden place to store the grain,” Liu Yu thought as she rested her hand on the bag of corn.
The moment she had that thought, the bag of corn disappeared without a trace.
It couldn’t have been stolen right under her nose! Liu Yu searched her small room frantically, turning everything upside down, almost in despair, when she willed the grain to “come back!”
In an instant, the bag of corn reappeared at her side.
Liu Yu blinked a few times, realizing what had happened. The Treasure Basin also came with its own storage space! This meant that no matter how much grain she produced, there was no risk of anyone discovering it. What a treasure!
But did this storage ability have a distance limit?
The Treasure Basin was about the size of a washbasin. Carrying it around would make her look either crazy or suspicious, like a thief hiding something.
To test it out, Liu Yu left the house and walked to the Duobao River. She stared at the water—there were fish in the river.
However, with so many families in the village struggling to fill their stomachs, the fish in the river were nearly extinct. Catching one would require some serious luck!
The summer water wasn’t cold. Liu Yu rolled up her pant legs and stepped into the river to try her hand at fishing. She must have been exceptionally lucky, because shortly after getting in, she felt a fish bump against her calf.
Quickly, Liu Yu reached down to grab it. The slippery scales made it hard to hold, and the fish, lively in the water, put up a fight. But there’s always a way to catch a fish, and Liu Yu’s speed and precision couldn’t be beaten.
Her hands were quick and firm. Once she grabbed hold, she didn’t let go. When she pulled the fish out of the water, her joy grew—it was indeed her lucky day! The fish gasped for air, and from head to tail, it measured half a foot long. A nice, big catch.
Liu Yu hadn’t eaten much since getting up that morning. Plus, the body she now inhabited had a larger appetite due to its size, so hunger hit her harder than others.
The sight of the fish immediately made her think of tossing it into a pot with a bit of water to make a delicious, nutritious soup!
Wiping the drool from her mouth, Liu Yu got back to her experiment.
She silently willed the fish to “store.” In the blink of an eye, the fish vanished. It seemed the storage space truly was portable. Whether it was grain or other items, Liu Yu now had a secure place to store them.
Humming a cheerful tune, Liu Yu resolved to work hard at producing more grain. Grain was capital, and grain was wealth!
