Chapter 42

Can Chen Shi really talk the talk? Has she changed?

Liu Yu was a bit surprised, but since they had food at home, she was also quite happy. She opened her pouch and said, “Let’s make steamed buns tonight, then fry the meat!”

But when she opened the pouch… Liu Yu understood. Chen Shi definitely wasn’t being generous to the main household!

Liu Yu grabbed a handful of grain and looked inside. It was mostly made up of four parts cornmeal, one part sorghum, and the rest were grass seeds, crushed corn cobs, and some unidentifiable things! Even the cornmeal had a foul smell, sour and moldy with green spots!

Chen Shi had weighed the grain properly, but she had tampered with its quality!

This grain was edible, but it was so poor that even livestock wouldn’t want to eat it.

Nie Xiaocui was stunned, “How could it be like this?”

Liu Yu’s expression darkened instantly. She said nothing, grabbed the bag of grain, and walked over to Chen Shi’s room. “Grandma, come out here. We need to talk about this grain!”

When she spoke, there was no response from inside.

Chen Shi, being elderly and with three sons who took care of things, didn’t need to work for the production team. Liu Yu knew that Chen Shi must be hiding inside!

Without hesitation, Liu Yu kicked the door open.

Sure enough, Chen Shi was standing inside, staring at Liu Yu in shock.

Without wasting any time, Liu Yu got straight to the point. Her face was as dark as storm clouds, but she restrained herself from cursing. “Grandma, you gave us forty pounds of grain, but why is it such poor quality?”

Chen Shi rolled her eyes. “I said forty pounds for the main household, didn’t specify what kind! Are you expecting white rice and flour?”

Liu Yu fell silent because she really had nothing to say.

She had been too patient. If she hadn’t held back from physical force, Chen Shi would never have dared to bully the main household like this!

“Grain!”

Liu Yu held out her hand.

Chen Shi froze. “What grain? I’ve already given it to you!”

Liu Yu didn’t respond. She turned and walked into the inner room. Chen Shi realized something was wrong and quickly rushed after her. But Liu Yu was tall, with long strides, walking fast, and despite Chen Shi chasing her as quickly as she could, she couldn’t catch up.

Liu Yu entered the room where the elderly couple slept. This room faced the sun, warm in winter and cool in summer, much better than the main household’s quarters! The furnishings in the room were complete—nothing was missing, not even a chair or table.

“What are you doing? Watch out, I’ll skin you alive!” Chen Shi yelled angrily, storming toward Liu Yu, trying to chase her out of the room.

Liu Yu ignored her. She shoved Chen Shi aside, knocking her to the ground. Then, Liu Yu searched around the room and found a stick. She grabbed it with both hands and started smashing the furniture.

With a loud thud, the stick hit the bedpost, creating a muffled sound as the wood clashed together. Liu Yu didn’t plan to stop. She kicked over a stool.

Chen Shi, seeing that Liu Yu was serious, panicked and started screaming, “You wicked thing! Third son! Third son, come quick! This fat girl has gone crazy! She’s bullying her grandmother!”

Chen Shi cried out, and hearing the commotion, Liu Jianmin and Liu Li rushed over, followed by Nie Xiaocui, who was at home.

But when they arrived, they saw Liu Yu holding a stick, smashing everything in sight!

Liu Jianmin’s face immediately turned red with anger. “This is outrageous! Stop it!”

Liu Jianmin rolled up his sleeves and was about to rush over to stop Liu Yu.

But Liu Yu turned to face him, holding the weapon in her hand, and coldly said, “If anyone comes at me today, I’ll deal with them!”

She was making it clear that she was not to be messed with!
