Chapter 43
Liu Yu held a large stick, speaking clearly and logically, obviously not joking. But to others, it seemed like she had lost her mind.
Liu Jianmin muttered “you” under his breath and hesitated, but then thought to himself, “I’m her brother-in-law, surely Liu Yu can’t really hit me.” So, he cursed and stepped forward.
However, before he could reach Liu Yu, she swung the stick, accompanied by a cold breeze, narrowly missing his forehead. The stick slammed into the ground with a thud, leaving a deep dent in the packed earth.
The screams of Chen Shi and Liu Li were ear-piercing.
Liu Jianmin stood frozen, as if his feet were nailed to the ground, drenched in cold sweat. His mind was consumed with one thought—Liu Yu really dares to hit people!
Since Liu Yu missed, she turned to Liu Jianmin and shouted, “Get out!”
Liu Jianmin swallowed hard. He wanted to leave but his legs were too weak, and he couldn’t move an inch.
“You dead fool, get away from her! Are you looking to die?”
Liu Li panicked. This was her husband, her world. If Liu Jianmin died, she would be a widow. She mustered her courage, ran up, and dragged Liu Jianmin away from Liu Yu as though he were a dead dog, pulling him far from Liu Yu.
Chen Shi shouted at Nie Xiaocui, “Why aren’t you managing your crazy daughter?”
“Daughter, what are you doing? Forget it, forget it!”
Nie Xiaocui dared not step forward. One, she was afraid of provoking Liu Yu further, and two, Liu Yu had made it clear that no one was to interfere. She hadn’t expected her daughter to be so temperamental.
Without anyone getting in her way, Liu Yu raised her stick and began smashing anything she could find. Bedding was tossed onto the floor, tables and chairs were overturned, and even the thermos was smashed into pieces!
“Grandma! Can we talk about the grain again?”
Liu Yu smiled, her expression almost maniacal.
Finally, her anger was vented. The first room was easy to talk to, but Chen Shi had repeatedly treated the first room like they were insignificant, really thinking they could be bullied!
Chen Shi looked at the wreckage and then at Liu Yu, who was smiling calmly, and she was genuinely terrified.
Liu Jianmin also started to feel fear. He knew very well the kind of deeds his own mother had done, and he knew it all too clearly because he had his part in it.
Now they both understood—when Liu Yu got angry, no one could stop her.
Liu Jianmin scowled and yelled at Chen Shi, “Mother, it’s just forty pounds of cornmeal! Give it to her! Hurry up! If she goes crazy, what are we going to do? She might kill someone!”
“Ai!”
Chen Shi glanced around the room, seeing that nothing was left intact. She was both angry and scared, but finally gave in, “Fine, fine! The old Liu family really must have done something wrong to raise such a troublemaker!”
Liu Yu then tossed the stick aside and walked out, hands behind her back.
Nie Xiaocui hurried to greet her daughter, grabbing both of Liu Yu’s hands, saying, “Daughter, you really scared your mother! We don’t need to fight with your grandmother!”
Liu Yu blinked and said, “I wasn’t planning on fighting. It’s just that they pushed us too far. We, the first room, aren’t to be messed with!”
As soon as she finished speaking, Liu Jianmin came out holding a bag of flour. “Here’s the forty pounds of cornmeal!”
Liu Yu opened it to see the sweet-smelling, top-quality cornmeal. This time, Chen Shi had not tried to cheat with inferior goods.
“Thank you, Uncle!”
Liu Yu accepted the flour while playing the good girl, deliberately trying to irritate Liu Jianmin.
Liu Jianmin gave a cold smile. “Little niece, you really showed your power today! How come I never noticed how capable you are? I’ve given you all the grain you asked for, but as for your smashing and hitting today, just wait until your grandfather comes back tonight. We’ll deal with you then!”
