Liu Yu’s words had a huge impact. In the Liu family, they barely ever had chicken during holidays, so why would they suddenly want to slaughter a chicken on a normal day when no guests were coming?
“What? Grandma wants to slaughter a chicken?”
Nie Xiaocui, hearing this, seriously doubted if she had misunderstood.
Liu Yu smiled innocently. “Yes, Grandma herself said she’s going to slaughter a chicken to help Uncle get better!”
Liu Jianmin, who was specifically mentioned, immediately broke into a grin. He rubbed his hands together, saliva nearly dripping from his mouth. “That’s great! The chicken needs to be stewed in clear water, with whatever can be added—mushrooms would be perfect! Make sure to bring it to my room once it’s done.”
Liu Yu grinned, showing her teeth. “Alright, we’ll do as Uncle says! I’ll go catch the chicken!”
And when she said “catch the chicken,” she meant it. Liu Yu went straight to the third family’s chickens, grabbed one in each hand, and walked toward Chen Shi’s house, shouting, “Grandma, look at how fat these chickens from Uncle’s house are! If you think they’re good, I can slaughter them right now!”
Inside, Chen Shi, hearing the shout, shivered. She couldn’t stay still anymore and quickly opened the door, hurriedly running out with quick steps. “Oh my god, you little girl, put those chickens down!”
Uncle Liu Jianmin shot her a sideways glance. “Those are my chickens. Put them down!”
Liu Yu, holding the two fat chickens, feigned innocence. “But didn’t Grandma say she wanted to slaughter a chicken for Uncle to eat?”
Chen Shi, panicked, jumped up and down. “I said I’d slaughter the chickens from the main family, why are you taking the ones from Uncle’s house?”
Liu Yu blinked and shrugged. “I thought our chicken might be too small and not enough to eat, so I grabbed a couple more! Ye!” She signaled to her brother. “Bring out our chicken too—let’s put all three in the pot together!”
This time, Liu Ye understood, and with no one stopping him, he went straight in and brought out the heavily bound Luohua chicken from the main family.
Nie Xiaocui and Liu Jianmin were stunned when they saw their own chicken being pulled out of Chen Shi’s room. The couple asked in unison, “Yu, how did our Luohua chicken end up in Grandma’s room?”
Liu Yu acted innocent, though her face was full of meat. She managed to look puzzled. “Grandma said she was going to slaughter our chicken for Uncle, and I was worried it wouldn’t be enough, so I grabbed two more.”
Nie Xiaocui and Liu Jianmin immediately understood most of the situation. It seemed that Liu Yu’s commotion had been a response to Grandma’s earlier shameless actions.
Hmph, if you want to play dirty with me, let’s see if you can outwit me! Liu Yu shot a glance at Chen Shi. “Grandma, do you think this is enough chicken? If not, we can slaughter these two as well!”
Chen Shi was furious. She had planned to sneakily take a chicken from the main family to slaughter for her younger son, but Liu Yu had completely thwarted her plans.
“Put them down! It’s not the holidays, what are you slaughtering chickens for? Is life so hard that we have to resort to this?”
With great resentment, Chen Shi realized that if she dared to touch the Luohua chicken from the main family, Liu Yu would really kill the two chickens she had raised for her younger son. For the sake of her son, she had to swallow her anger.
Liu Yu, seeing the Luohua chicken in her younger brother’s arms, couldn’t help but smile triumphantly. She reluctantly put the two chickens down. “I thought we’d get to eat meat! Alas, Grandma’s word is law—whatever Grandma says, I’ll do!”
Her words poured oil on the fire, and Chen Shi spat in disgust. Tch, something wasn’t right. Normally, this chubby girl only cared about eating and sleeping, and her brain was simpler than a pig’s. But today, she had come up with this scheme. This wasn’t something she would usually do.
Liu Yu, smiling mischievously, looped her arm around her mother, Nie Xiaocui’s, and winked at her, signaling, Mom, how do you think I handled this situation?
