Chapter 49
Ye Yao looked at Li Yukun as if he were an idiot.
Did this scumbag still think she was the same woman he could manipulate at will?
“You were hugging and kissing Zhao Qingqing—was that also to protect me?”
Li Yukun coughed dryly. This little brat sure had sharp eyes.
“That was an accident. I was too excited that night, so I had a few drinks before going over. I lost control for a moment. But why did you insist that I admit I was with Zhao Qingqing?
Now, look what happened—I don’t even dare to go to the compound to see you anymore. How is Zhao Qingqing doing?”
Ye Yao let out a cold laugh. So, he was still thinking about that woman.
“So, do you want to see me, or do you want to see Zhao Qingqing?”
“Of course… I want to see you.”
Li Yukun’s words were filled with reluctance.
Ye Yao’s eyes darkened. Since he had gone to such lengths to see her, it was time to settle things properly.
“Li Yukun, before, you urged me to go to the Li family and propose a marriage arrangement, and then you said you wanted to elope with me. But what you really wanted was to scam the Li family’s betrothal money, right?
Did you find it fun to deceive my feelings?”
Li Yukun’s eyes widened in disbelief.
She… figured it out?
“How can you think that? My feelings for you were real—”
“If I had really gone with you that night, I bet you would have waited until I fell asleep, stolen my belongings, and then abandoned me in town.”
“How did you—? … No, that’s not what I meant! I’m not that kind of person—”
Cold sweat dripped from Li Yukun’s forehead.
For the first time, he felt a deep sense of fear toward Ye Yao.
Was she capable of reading minds? She had guessed everything correctly!
If it were someone else, Ye Yao might have wanted revenge, but this man in front of her wasn’t even worth the effort.
“I must have been blinded by stupidity before to be fooled by a lazy piece of trash like you.”
Her face was filled with disdain.
Li Yukun’s expression twisted. He had wasted half a year on her, hoping to make a fortune out of this. But now, he had lost everything.
“Stop right there! If I’m trash, then what does that make you? Look at yourself—who else would even spare you a glance besides me?”
Ye Yao’s face remained cold and indifferent.
“I spent six months on you! Since you already know what I wanted, hand over the money obediently. Otherwise, I’ll go to your compound right now and tell everyone that you were the one who wanted to elope with me that night!”
Since things had already come to this, Li Yukun showed his true, ugly nature.
Ye Yao looked at him with utter contempt. “Do you think I’d be afraid?”
Li Yukun was so furious he could barely breathe. At this point, no one would believe him anyway.
A flash of malice flickered in his eyes—this fat woman dared to dump him!
Ye Yao noticed the sinister look on his face. Feeling an instinctive warning, she took two steps back.
“Li Yukun, what are you trying to do?”
Li Yukun let out a sinister laugh. Then, with gritted teeth, he lunged at her.
Splash!
A body fell heavily into the river.
Ye Yao stood unharmed on the riverbank, coldly watching Li Yukun struggling in the water.
Li Yukun screamed for help. He had planned to push Ye Yao into the river, but he never expected her to dodge so swiftly—so he was the one who fell in instead!
“Help… glug glug … I can’t… glug glug … swim…”
Ye Yao watched as his body slowly sank into the water.
But instead of making any move to save him, she simply turned and walked away.
Completely merciless.
