Chapter 85
The police officer glanced at her and then started taking her statement.
“You say this happened three days ago? Then why are you reporting it now?”
“I was injured and scared at the time. I only dared to come out today.”
Ye Yao spoke without blushing or breathing heavily.
If she wanted to get the case filed, she had to make the situation sound serious.
And at the time, she truly felt like she was “half dead” from the pain.
“Then, what did they steal from you?”
“A family heirloom bracelet. It’s very valuable. They were especially brazen, saying they were the leaders of this area, and they had connections, even the police wouldn’t dare do anything to them.”
Ye Yao spoke with righteous indignation.
The officer frowned deeply as he listened. “Did they really say that?”
“Yes, and they were even more arrogant than that! Officer, you must catch these scoundrels as soon as possible and bring justice for us common people.”
Ye Yao pleaded, playing the victim to the fullest.
The sketch she had drawn might not be 100% accurate, but it was 80% similar to the two men, so if the police started investigating, they should be able to find them soon.
“Okay, we will definitely catch these two as soon as possible.”

After leaving the police station, Ye Yao noticed the sun was already high in the sky, and her stomach was growling.
On the way here, she had noticed a restaurant that seemed decent, so she headed there.
It was lunchtime, and the restaurant was crowded.
“Excuse me, do you have a seat? It’s just me.”
“We have a window seat available. If you’re okay with that, I can show you to it.”
The midday sun was strong, and there were only two ceiling fans in the restaurant, so the window seat would be a bit hot. Most people would avoid sitting there.
Ye Yao was hungry, and the waiter’s attitude was very nice. She wasn’t dressed up, nor was she with anyone else, so she didn’t mind and agreed to sit there.
The three vegetables and one soup came quickly.
She took a bite to check the taste, and it was indeed good. She picked up her chopsticks and started eating heartily.
“Eh?”
At that moment, three people walked in through the door. Zheng Lu looked around, then his gaze fell on one direction.
“What’s wrong?”
Huang Ying, following behind him, asked when she noticed he had suddenly stopped walking.
Zheng Lu suddenly smiled and turned to look at Li Cheng, who was at the back.
“Li Cheng, is that your fiancée sitting by the window?”
Li Cheng and Huang Ying both followed his gaze.
Huang Ying’s face immediately darkened. What a coincidence!
She subconsciously looked at Li Cheng’s reaction.
Li Cheng had no reaction at all.
“Excuse me, how many people in your party? There are no available tables inside at the moment.”
The waiter quickly approached and asked.
Li Cheng calmly looked away. “We made a reservation under the name Li.”
“Mr. Li, your table is inside. Please follow me.”
The waiter immediately led them to their seats.
“Li Cheng, do you want to invite your fiancée over to join us?”
After sitting down, Zheng Lu half-jokingly, half-seriously suggested.
They had a table for four, so even if Ye Yao joined them, there would be enough space.
Moreover, her current seat was directly in the sun, looking rather hot.
“I think it’s better not to. We’re not really familiar with her, and eating together would be awkward. What do you think, Brother Li?”
Before Li Cheng could answer, Huang Ying had already expressed her stance.
It had been hard enough for her to finally get Li Cheng to eat with them; she definitely didn’t want such a big “third wheel” around.
Moreover, that face was really too off-putting.
