Rebirth in the ’90s: The Fat Wife Wants to Turn Her Life Around – Chapter 9

Chapter 9

“Fatty is coming! Is everything ready?”

“All set!”

At the entrance of the courtyard, a group of teenage boys, full of mischief, hid behind the gate, craning their necks eagerly to look outside.

Ye Yao appeared on the path, her face flushed red, her breathing irregular.

For a full forty minutes, she had been alternating between jogging and walking, yet she hadn’t gone very far. Now, she was utterly exhausted, reaching her limit.

The scorching weather made exercising even worse. If she waited any longer and the sun rose higher, she was bound to suffer from heatstroke.

She finally reached the entrance, but a sudden sense of foreboding washed over her.

She wanted to react, but her body no longer obeyed her mind.

Smack!

A sharp sting spread across her face as a lump of mud splattered onto half of it.

“Hahaha! Direct hit!”

Not far away, the group of boys burst into triumphant laughter.

Ye Yao’s eyes turned cold and ruthless, but her eyes were simply too “small” to appear threatening in any way.

Smack! Smack!

Smack, smack, smack!

One lump of mud after another flew toward her.

If it were the old Ye Yao, she would never have allowed these brats to succeed. But now, with her 200-plus-pound body severely limiting her agility, she had no chance of dodging.

Very soon, she was covered in mud, looking utterly wretched.

“Every shot landed! Fatty! Stinky fatty!”

The ringleader of the boys, bare-chested with his head held high, grinned with a childish arrogance.

Ye Yao wiped the mud off her face and stood still, staring at them.

She was only four or five years older than them, yet their young faces already seemed repulsive in her eyes.

“She’s glaring at us? So ugly, hahaha!”

Though they were young, two of them were almost as tall as Ye Yao and quite sturdy.

They had been bullying Ye Yao for a long time. She had always cried and endured it, never daring to retaliate. Seeing her constant submission had only emboldened them further.

The boys bent over laughing, convinced that the pig-like Ye Yao was even more ridiculous than before.

Next, this pig would definitely start crying.

But what they didn’t expect was that Ye Yao did not cry at all. Instead, she spoke calmly, “Are you done?”

The boys paused for a moment, glancing at each other in confusion.

Why wasn’t she crying today?

After all, they were still kids. They had only bullied Ye Yao because everyone in the courtyard did. But now, with her asking them so directly, they suddenly felt a little uneasy.

Then, Ye Yao’s voice rang out again, carrying a chilling edge. “Today is the last time. Next time, don’t blame me for not being polite!”

W-What’s going on?

Was this fatty… warning them?

Ye Yao said no more and stepped forward, but in the next second, the ringleader blocked her way.

“Fat pig, we’re bullying you—what can you…”

Thud!

Before he could finish his sentence, Ye Yao grabbed him and executed a clean over-the-shoulder throw, slamming him to the ground like a rag doll.

The air froze.

The boy lay there, completely stunned, feeling as if his entire body had fallen apart from the pain.

The other boys were dumbfounded, their smugness and disdain disappearing instantly.

Ye Yao let out a cold chuckle. “If any of you dare to mess with me again, this—” she pointed at the boy writhing on the ground, “—will be your fate!”

A dead silence fell over the area. No one dared to utter a word.

The gang of boys watched Ye Yao’s swaying figure disappear into the distance, their expressions frozen in shock.

When did Ye Yao become this terrifying?
