Chapter 9: The Sense of Security from a Big Shot Is Enough

“Boss, I want to stay here overnight.”

“Only double rooms are available. But the renovations are all the same. During our opening promotion, it’s 200 copper coins per day. Tomorrow it returns to the original price of 400 copper coins. How many days will you stay?”

While asking, Chu Jiangyue opened the virtual front desk screen.

“Let’s start with 10 days.”

200 copper coins per day was a bit expensive, but Xie Silin thought it over and agreed.

This was effectively half-price. Once he went back and brought someone else along, he wouldn’t have to pay for two people by himself.

“Your room number is 0201. Go in, take the stairs, turn right—the first room is yours. Swipe your ID card to enter.”

Xie Silin nodded, understanding.

But he didn’t move immediately. Instead, he looked at Chu Jiangyue, hesitant to speak.

“Anything else? If not, I’m going to eat.”

By the time he checked in, her food was nearly cold.

“Boss Chu, can the food you’re eating today be bought at the hotel?”

“This is homemade, so I can’t sell it to you. But the hotel has new dishes today; you can check those out.”

Chu Jiangyue pointed toward the shelf. Today, quite a few new dishes had been added.

She had once tried discussing with the little fox whether kitchen ingredients could be sold to others, but the fox had clearly said no.

Guests can only eat unlocked dishes.

Hearing Chu Jiangyue’s refusal, Xie Silin visibly drooped, his expression losing all energy.

He turned toward the shelf, and his eyes lit up when he saw the braised pork.

“Boss! Our hotel is amazing!”

Braised pork wasn’t a simple dish.

“If it’s good, you can buy more—unlimited supply.”

Hearing this, Xie Silin’s eyes brightened even more.

“Boss, I’ll go pack my things and come back immediately to check in!”

The next second, he disappeared.

Chu Jiangyue shook her head. Young people really overreact when something excites them—they’re too emotional.

“I booked a room at Jianglin Hotel. Boss Chu said there were new dishes on the shelf, some not even mentioned in announcements.

I figured you guys would also want to stay at the hotel, so I came to tell you.

Big Brother Shen, can I go with you to the hotel?”

Xie Silin quickly explained his intentions; otherwise, these four big shots could easily take him down with one hand.

“Sure, but if danger comes, we might not be able to protect you.”

Being with these big shots excited Xie Silin—now his safety was guaranteed.

Shen Zhigui and the others didn’t comment further. They grabbed their belongings and placed Xie Silin in the middle of the group, moving quickly toward Jianglin Hotel.

The zombies that picked up their scent couldn’t get closer than two meters and were easily dealt with by abilities or weapons.

These low-level zombies posed no real threat to Shen Zhigui and the others.

But Shen Zhigui hadn’t forgotten what Chu Jiangyue had told him—the Level 1 zombies that evolved crystal cores.

If there are Level 1 zombies, there might also be Level 2, Level 3, or even Level 4 zombies.

For the safety of the whole team, Shen Zhigui had already begun planning for the future.

Chu Jiangyue had no idea that her words had prompted him to think this far ahead.

Seeing them arrive with Xie Silin, she was a bit surprised.

“Coming together?”

Out of the five people, only Xie Silin’s room was on the second floor.

“Big Brother Shen, I’ll head upstairs first. If anything happens, call me anytime!”

Saying this, Xie Silin carried his luggage upstairs.

Shen Zhigui and the others also went to their respective rooms.

Shen Zhigui quickly found his room, and Su Zhucheng and the others followed, inspecting the rooms.

When they opened the doors, the scene inside caught their eyes.

“Not big, but very clean!”

“Small but complete.”

Su Zhucheng and the others evaluated the rooms.

In the post-apocalyptic era, such clean rooms were rare indeed.

Jiang He adjusted his glasses: “Boss Chu is really something.”

Jianglin Hotel clearly showed no signs of zombie attacks; the rooms were clean and tidy, exactly as advertised—newly renovated and unoccupied.

“Stop overthinking. If the weather really gets as hot as the big guy predicted, at least we can take a breather with this hotel.”

Elsewhere without a hotel like this, survival would be much harder.

Su Zhucheng decided not to overthink.

“Let’s eat first.”

No need to ask more questions—Boss Chu wouldn’t reveal everything anyway.

“Okay!”

At the mention of food, their eyes lit up. After eating instant meals for the past few days, they were close to being fed up.
