Chapter 25: Fiona Vick
Fude escorted Rein back on the return trip.
Their pace was slower on the journey there when the three had followed Rein.
Fude moved at an extremely fast pace while escorting Rein back.
They returned to House Gray’s estate within minutes.
Meanwhile, Charlie was anxiously waiting for their return in the manor.
Upon seeing them land, he was anxious inwardly but still bowed slightly to them first.
“Marquis Gray, Marquis Ward, Marquis Mick, good afternoon.”
“Young Master Rein, good afternoon.”
Fude naturally knew why Charlie was anxious and patted his shoulder with a smile.
“Haha, Charlie, you really have to thank Rein this time; if it hadn’t been for him, we wouldn’t have caught up to Harlin.”
Hearing that they had caught up to Harlin, Charlie was instantly overjoyed.
Catching Harlin meant that his daughter had definitely been found.
Charlie bowed slightly to Rein.
“Young Master Rein, thank you so much for your assistance this time; I am deeply grateful, and House Hill will always be House Gray’s most loyal supporter.”
“Uncle Charlie, you need not be so formal; go and find Adele first.”
Then Rein told Charlie the location of Adele that Harlin had given him.
Charlie nodded upon hearing this and immediately set off with the family guards who had been waiting nearby.
After Fude saw that Rein had finished explaining about Adele, he took him, Brent, and Fabian to the House Gray conference room.
Inside the conference room.
Fude specifically instructed Jonas not to allow anyone to approach the conference room.
“Brent, Fabian, Rein caught him and the key belongs to Rein; if your families want to enter the Secret Realm, you should at least offer something, right?”
Sitting in the main seat, Fude got straight to the point.
“You want to enter the Secret Realm? Fine.”
“But you have to give something in return.”
Hearing this, Brent and Fabian exchanged glances, and Fabian spoke up first.
“My Ward family wants 100 slots, and each slot gets a Rank 4 treasure.”
Fabian’s words caused Fude’s eyes to widen immediately.
“100 slots!? Are you dreaming? You want 100 and then Brent wants another 100, leaving only 100 for House Gray?”
“Impossible, absolutely impossible; I can give at most 20 slots to each of your two families.”
Upon hearing this, Fabian instantly became displeased.
“Old geezer, your Rein even stole my precious daughter’s underwear, and I haven’t even settled that with you; you give me only 20 slots… who do you think you’re fooling?”
Fabian’s words immediately caused Fude’s arrogance to drop a notch.
“Who knows if that underwear really belonged to your daughter? I already said it was Harlin’s slander.”
“All right, Rein, you tell me, did it belong to my daughter or not? You treasured it so much back then, you must know whose it was, right?”
Fabian raised his eyebrows and looked at Rein, who was sipping tea on the side.
Rein immediately spat out a mouthful of tea.
Could he possibly admit to that?
Rein silently looked over at Brent, who was watching the show.
From the look in Rein’s eyes, Brent immediately knew he could no longer slack off.
He began to change the subject and throw in distractions.
“Underwear? We’re talking about slots right now. But Fabian is right, 20 slots is too few.”
It was unclear whether Fabian didn’t want to probe the matter further.
Fabian had been successfully led off track by Brent, and Rein gradually breathed a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, Rein remained seated at Fude’s right side, sipping tea and watching the scene unfold.
The 100 slots that Brent mentioned was indeed a lot, while the 20 that his own father suggested was indeed too few.
Rein estimated that the number of slots allocated to each of the two families would probably be around 50.
After some time of quarrelling, the three finally settled on a final plan.
And this was just as Rein had expected.
Each family would get 50 slots.
Each slot came with a Rank 4 treasure plus 10,000 gold coins.
“Rein, how does that key of yours record information?” Brent asked in a hoarse voice as he drank some tea.
“Just bring the people to me.”
“When will the Secret Realm open?”
Hearing Fabian’s question, Rein closed his eyes to sense the information being transmitted by the necklace.
Rein slowly opened his eyes and said, “About a month later.”
Brent, Fabian, and Fude instantly looked at each other.
Then the three of them all furrowed their brows.
Was it a coincidence?
Seeing their expressions, Rein also knew what they were wondering.
Because the old emperor’s birthday banquet was exactly one month away.
And the timing of the Secret Realm’s appearance was nearly the same.
But the three did not think much of it.
At least they still had ample time to choose the people who would enter the Secret Realm.
The two of them thought this and prepared to return to decide on the first group.
And then carry out the selection afterwards.
As Brent and Fabian departed, only Rein and Fude remained in the conference room.
Fude clearly looked pleased at the unexpected profit from Brent and Fabian.
“Hahaha, this is truly a windfall, isn’t it? With these treasures, the strength of my Lion Knights will undoubtedly rise to the next level.”
Hearing this, Rein raised an eyebrow.
“Father, shouldn’t these treasures belong to me? I was the one who discovered the Secret Realm.”
Fude coughed awkwardly twice.
“What’s yours or mine? What use is a Rank 4 treasure to you, a Rank 1? The family will hold them for you and release them when you reach Rank 4.”
Rein pouted and said, “No way, at least give me half.”
Fude immediately widened his eyes and stared at Rein.
“Half? Fifty Rank 4 treasures? What do you intend to do with them? Rebel?”
Then he began to counsel him earnestly.
“Oh, my son, didn’t you used to say that treasures were overrated? From now on, I’ll double your pocket money every month. Three thousand gold… no, five thousand. How about that? You can spend it however you like.”
Seeing Rein unmoved, Fude seemed to reach a decision.
“All right, I’ll have Fiona brought back for you, and from now on she’ll stay with you as your guard.”
Hearing the name Fiona, Rein immediately recalled a capable figure.
Fiona Vick was currently a Knight Captain of the Lion Knights with a strength at Rank 3.
She was the most unruly rose among the Lion Knights.
A year ago, Rein was deeply captivated when he first saw Fiona.
He constantly begged Fude for Fiona, but Fude always refused.
“Really?”
Hearing Rein’s doubt, Fude took a deep breath.
He wondered why this kid always doubted and asked if it was true… had he ever actually broken a promise?
“Really. I’ll write the transfer order tomorrow to have Fiona brought here.”
“Done, it’s settled.”
Hearing Rein’s blunt response, Fude’s mouth twitched involuntarily.
“Rein, you have to restrain yourself; don’t exhaust your qi and blood at such a young age.”
Rein showed a nonchalant expression and said, “It’s fine, I have this.”
He immediately pulled out the little green vial that Grandma Kiri had given him.
“Grandma Kiri said that taking one pill each time can replenish qi and vital essence.”
At the sight of the little green vial, Fude’s eyes bulged.
“Kiri gave you so many Jade Sea Cleansing pills?”
“Jade Sea Cleansing pills?”
It was also the first time Rein had heard the name of this pill.
It sounds really advanced.
“Father, do you know about this medicine?”
“Of course. These Jade Sea Cleansing pills are refined from dozens of precious ingredients using a specialized method.”
“Especially the Jade Sea Essence Pearl within them… a treasure among treasures.”
“One pill not only lets you ‘Fish girls at night’, but continuous use for a month can greatly reinforce your foundation and nurture your essence.”
Fude looked at the little green vial with eyes shining.
“Heh heh, son, how many do you have? Give me one?”
