Rebirth of the Comfortable Days of the 1960s Chapter 2

Chapter 2: Family

“At this time, every household has someone at home. The old Liu family lives in the middle of the village, which is very safe, so Grandma Liu does not worry about her little child playing outside.

Today, it’s a bit late; dinner time is approaching. Shuxin is turning around at the door, planning to explore the new world with her brother and sister tomorrow.

Just as she thinks about her two brothers and sister, they arrive home. Cousin Shulan is carrying a basket filled with fresh wild vegetables, and her older cousin Liu Jianjun has a small bundle of firewood on his back, while her real brother Liu Jianguo is also carrying a bunch of pig grass.

At this time, children going out to play are not just for fun. Children of poor families grow up fast; when they go out to play, they also need to help with chores at home, such as collecting pig grass, picking firewood, and gathering wild vegetables. They can have their fun while also doing their share of the household work.

Seeing Shuxin spinning around at the door, Shulan hurriedly walked over, took her hand, and asked:

“Xinxin, were you good at home today? Are you still feeling unwell?”

There are only the two of them at home, and since childhood, Shulan has always taken the original child to play, so their relationship is very good.

“I was very good! Sister, I’m so bored at home today. Can you take me with you tomorrow when you go out?”

Seeing Shuxin looking lively and not like when she was sick with a cold, Shulan doesn’t refuse, saying, “Okay! I’ll take you with me tomorrow.”

Bouncing and hopping home, while calling out to the people following behind.

“Grandpa, Uncle, hurry up, let’s go home! Grandma has made something delicious, and my brother even found wild chicken eggs! Let’s go back and let Grandma cook them—slurp!”

Just thinking about it made them drool…

“They’re coming! They’re coming! You little glutton, quickly wipe your drool; you’re spilling it all over the doorstep! Haha!” Uncle laughed.

“That’s right, you’re almost making a pond of drool at the entrance!” Grandpa followed with a tease.

“Grandpa and Uncle are so bad! There’s no pond of drool!” Shuxin said childishly.

The family chatted and laughed as they entered the courtyard. The entrance was illuminated by the afterglow of the setting sun, casting dappled shadows on the surrounding branches and adding a touch of warmth to this cozy scene.
