The lunch at noon was prepared by Zhou Wanwan and Su Huazhu.
Since they had chicken last night which drew some attention, the whole family decided to keep things low-key these couple of days.
Apart from the steamed egg custard specially made for Dabao and Xiaobao, the meal was simple—fried radish strips with crispy pork bits, cabbage, steamed buns, and corn porridge.
Although the dishes were simple, the two little ones had malted milk drinks anytime and also drank water made from a big White Rabbit candy every day.
After only two days, the two kids regained their energy, and their complexions looked better and better.
After the meal, Su Huaiyuan and Su Ze tidied up Su Feng’s bedding in the living room.
The father and son tightly bundled it and packed it up.
They planned to send it to Su Feng when he set off, but they decided not to tell him about it for now.
“Here, these are the Vitality Pills, one pill each. Your grandfather made these before he passed away. I went with your dad to the old Qiao family house this morning to get them. We’ve taken them ourselves, and they work well.”
The whole family was gathered neatly, and Qiao Jiuru took out a bottle of Vitality Pills from the space.
Besides the two little ones, each adult was given one.
The Qiao family has been doctors for generations and naturally has their own herbal formulas and prepared pills.
So when Qiao Jiuru brought them out, none of her three children and daughter-in-law were suspicious.
After Su Ze, Su Huazhu, Su Feng, and Zhou Wanwan each took one pill, Qiao Jiuru handed the bottle to her youngest son.
“You’re going to work so far away, probably won’t come back even once a year. We still have these pills at home; take this bottle with you. Take one pill a month. When you finish this bottle, Mom will send you more.”
There were about ten pills left after this bottle, enough for Su Feng to take for over a year to keep his body strong.
Su Feng didn’t think much and accepted the pills without refusal.
Besides the pills, his mother secretly slipped him 300 yuan, three jin of national grain coupons, several meat coupons, industrial coupons, and sugar coupons.
Besides these, she also packed his clothes and belongings at home to be sent after he started working.
Su Ze, Su Huazhu, and Zhou Wanwan noticed that after taking the grandfather’s personally made pills, they really seemed effective—lifting the usual heaviness in their bodies and making them feel lighter.
“Su Ze, does Mom have more of these pills? Can you send some to my family too?” Zhou Wanwan asked quietly in their room, worried about her family who was being sent away.
If her family took such good medicine, wouldn’t they get sick less or not at all?
“I’ll ask Mom later. If she has some, she’ll definitely send it, and then I’ll send it to your parents.”
Of course, no problem.
His parents were reasonable, not stingy.
Su Ze comforted his wife.
Zhou Wanwan felt relieved immediately. Her parents-in-law were sensible and fair, and she wasn’t worried about that, only a little shy to ask.
Sure enough, before going to sleep that night, Su Ze showed her a bottle of Vitality Pills and said he would send them to the Zhou family the next day.
That afternoon, Su Ze and Su Huazhu left for school.
Qiao Jiuru prepared some boiled eggs, half a jin of biscuits, half a jin of pastries, and more than ten White Rabbit candies for her son and daughter, and made sure the siblings ate their fill before going to school.
After sending off her son and daughter, Qiao Jiuru handed over the dinner preparations to her daughter-in-law and then went into the room with Su Huaiyuan to hide in their space.
The couple had hurriedly bought so many supplies these past two days and hadn’t had time to organize them yet.
“Aru, since this space can preserve freshness, we can cook meals here in advance, just in case we don’t have time to cook later. Also, there are plenty of fields here—we can plant crops, vegetables, and raise chickens, so we won’t worry about running out of food.”
After entering the Ink Bracelet space, Su Huaiyuan looked at the vast land outside the west courtyard with many ideas, thinking they could make full use of it.
“You’re right, Huaiyuan. Not only can we farm and raise chickens, but do you see that river over there? We can also raise fish and shrimp. As long as we get through these five years, we can come back.”
“Then you cook, I’ll start clearing the land.”
“Okay, tomorrow morning we’ll go to the black market to buy fish and shrimp, buy a few more chickens, and get some grain and vegetable seeds.”
They acted immediately without delay.
The couple didn’t waste time and split up to work.
Qiao Jiuru went into the kitchen to start a fire, then steamed buns, boiled porridge, and eggs.
Su Huaiyuan took a hoe from the tool room and headed straight to the land outside the west courtyard.
Luckily, time inside the space passed twice as fast as outside, meaning they had double the time.
After working inside for an hour, they heard knocking outside, followed by their eldest son calling them to eat.
Qiao Jiuru and Su Huaiyuan immediately came out of the space, tidied themselves up while responding, and then opened the door to eat.
After dinner, Qiao Jiuru first sent Su Huaiyuan back into the space to continue working and stayed in the living room to play with Dabao and Xiaobao for a while.
When Zhou Wanwan and Su Ze took the two kids back to rest in their room, she went to wash up, then let Su Huaiyuan out to wash.
After Su Huaiyuan finished washing and returned to their room, Qiao Jiuru took him back into the space.
“Huaiyuan, you’re really capable, you’ve cleared so much land so fast.”
Qiao Jiuru hadn’t expected that in less than three hours, her husband had cleared about twenty square meters of land—such a fast speed.
“This land is easy to work with, all good soil, no weeds or stones, and easy to dig. I don’t know much about soil, but this looks like top-quality land.”
Su Huaiyuan was also pleasantly surprised by how easy the digging was, which boosted his speed.
“I’ll cook a pot of millet porridge and corn porridge, boil a pot of water, then dig with you.”
Porridge usually doesn’t need constant attention, just occasional checking.
So after saying this, Qiao Jiuru rushed into the kitchen to get busy.
