Chapter 4: You Are My Light
No one understood Guan Yan’s influence better than Tang Qu, the former Film Emperor.
The impact of Guan Yan’s single Weibo post was immeasurable. Tang Qu finally understood what had been the last straw that broke the original body’s back.
However, the reality was even more severe than Tang Qu had imagined.
When Tang Qu searched for Guan Yan, he saw a folder named “Guan Yan” in the laptop’s file directory.
With a sudden bad feeling, Tang Qu hesitated for a moment but ultimately opened the folder, and was shocked by its contents.
It was full of photos of Guan Yan. The loading bar made Tang Qu tremble with trepidation. He opened a few pictures and immediately closed them, scrolling directly to the end, where he found a text document.
After some thought, Tang Qu finally clicked on it.
The document didn’t contain any lengthy discourse, only a few words: “You are my light!”
Tang Qu understood everything now. That’s why the original body had wanted to end his life. He had seen Guan Yan as his guiding light. When he thought he could get closer to his light, his light told him not to have any ulterior motives and even treated him like someone trying to leech off his fame. Such a blow would be unbearable for anyone, especially a child like Tang Qu who craved love and affection.
When a person has no attachments left, and their last hope is shattered, all that remains is despair.
Tang Qu closed the document and closed the folder named after Guan Yan. These were memories that belonged to the original body, and he had no right to touch them.
Tang Qu stood up and walked over to the TV, where he saw many CDs stacked neatly—fourteen in total. Without even picking them up, Tang Qu knew who they belonged to: Guan Yan’s films.
Looking at those CDs, it became clear why Tang Qu’s acting was filled with Guan Yan’s mannerisms. As a college sophomore, Guan Yan could be considered his acting mentor in a way.
Because I love you, I lived my life in your image.
Tang Qu didn’t quite understand that feeling, but he had read the messages his fans had left for him.
Whenever he posted on Weibo, many people would leave comments below. He saw many fans saying that he had helped them regain their confidence, or that they had gotten into good schools, or that they had tried many new things because of him.
Although he didn’t think he had that much power, he couldn’t help but feel happy whenever he read such comments, happy for those fans.
The meaning of chasing after a star is to become better yourself in the process.
It’s just that the original body hadn’t yet gotten a chance to shine brightly before he was personally extinguished by his idol.
Although Guan Yan was incredibly talented, Tang Qu currently had no liking for Guan Yan whatsoever. Knowing that he wielded so much influence, he still made such a statement on Weibo without clarifying the facts. It was basically stifling a child, and the original body had certainly paid the price for it.
While Tang Qu was lost in thought, his phone rang again. He subconsciously answered, “Hello.”
“Tang Qu, get out of the entertainment industry and die! You’re not allowed to leech off Yan Yan’s fame!”
Tang Qu, having been cursed at, hung up the phone expressionlessly. Where did this mad dog come from?
However, it rang again soon after he hung up. Tang Qu glanced at the screen; there was no name.
He answered and said directly, “Not dead, still alive, and living very well!” Then, without giving the other person a chance to speak, he hung up. He hated these brain-dead fans the most. They could get their hands on anything.
On the other end of the phone, a man with a stern expression stared blankly at the disconnected phone.
He tried calling again: “We’re sorry, the number you have dialed is currently switched off.”
