Chapter 33: Newlyweds After a Short Separation (Part 2)

Fu Zhengtu gave Su Taotao a brief look before reaching behind her for the backpack.

From the bag, he took out a bankbook, an envelope, and a large stack of vouchers, placing them all into Su Taotao’s arms. “All for you.”

Su Taotao blinked, her mind going blank, unable to process what was happening. Her thoughts spun—what just happened? Isn’t this supposed to be the part where we blow out the lights, close the curtains, and get cozy?

“Taotao?”

Su Taotao: “……!!! Ahh, this is too much! Why is he whispering my name right next to my ear? How does it sound so… sensual when he says it? When Zhou Linglan says my name, it’s just… normal.”

“Is something wrong?”

That deep voice whispered again in her ear, sending a shiver down her spine.

Su Taotao’s face flushed red as she clutched the items to her chest and subtly stepped back. Shaking her head, she stammered, “N-no, it’s nothing.”

She lowered her gaze, pretending to look at the bankbook, though she was holding it upside down. She hadn’t even noticed how many zeros were on it.

Fu Zhengtu had already sat back down and explained succinctly, “The bankbook contains my wages and bonuses from the past two or three years. The envelope has cash, and there will be another bonus issued in the near future.”

Most of the money he had saved earlier was spent on their wedding, equipping the ‘three turns and one sound’ and renovating the bathroom, which cost a lot. He left only enough for his travel expenses and gave the rest to the household for daily use. He hadn’t mentioned any of this to Su Taotao.

Su Taotao nodded absentmindedly, pretending to understand, though in truth, she hadn’t listened to a word. All she could think about was Fu Zhengtu’s chiseled chest.

This man, whether it was his looks or his physique, was exactly her type—more captivating than the young stars she had pursued in her previous life. It was hard for her to remain composed in his presence.

Oh, the temptation of male beauty.

Fu Zhengtu wasn’t a man of many words. Seeing that she had no questions, he didn’t say anything more.

“Get some rest early.”

The wooden beds of this era were generally quite high, and with one side of the bed against the wall, Fu Zhengtu slept on the outer side. To get to her spot, Su Taotao would have to climb over him, which meant crawling across his body. This was awkward—she’d have to straddle him!

She bit her lip, sitting on the bed with her buttocks first, then slowly lifting her legs into a kneeling position. She placed her hands on the bed and carefully swung one leg over Fu Zhengtu. Of course, the one thing she feared most was exactly what happened.

Everything had been going smoothly until her other leg got caught in the blanket. As she kicked the blanket away, she lost her balance and, to her horror, ended up face-planting directly onto Fu Zhengtu’s chest!

Yes, the chest she had been lusting after was now beneath her face, her lips just a tiny movement away from kissing it!

She then heard a muffled groan from beneath her and realized, with even more embarrassment, that her knees were pressed against something soft and warm—his skin.

Su Taotao was on the verge of tears, her limbs at a loss for what to do. Her usually nimble tongue was now stumbling over itself. “I-I’m s-sorry…”

It was almost as if fate had been extra kind to both of them, crafting them with such perfection.

Su Taotao had porcelain skin, a statuesque figure, and curves in all the right places, embodying the popular pure-yet-seductive style of the 21st century.

With their faces so close, they could feel each other’s breath and hear each other’s heartbeats. Fu Zhengtu, feeling the smooth, silky touch of Su Taotao’s skin, suddenly wrapped an arm around her, blew out the oil lamp by the bedside, and flipped her beneath him in one swift motion. What followed was an almost greedy kiss.

He wasn’t a saint. The woman in front of him was his lawfully wedded wife, whom he had spent all his savings to betroth with the “three rounds and one sound” (a traditional betrothal gift). After a long journey, coupled with the fact that they hadn’t seen each other for too long, they were both a bit rusty. He originally didn’t plan to do anything tonight, but at the moment when the woman, with her fragrant breath and skin like congealed cream, pressed down on him, everything became so natural.

After a kiss, Fu Zhengtu’s thin lips moved to below Su Taotao’s earlobe, grabbed her hand and kissed it, placed it behind his neck, and calmed his heavy breathing before asking in a hoarse voice: “Is it okay?”

Right now, Su Taotao felt like a ripe little peach, her face blushing even more intensely than the sun-kissed fruit.

She remained silent. After all, as someone from the 21st century, she wasn’t exactly naive about these things. As lawful spouses, there was no need for affectation. If you felt it, you felt it; if not, you didn’t.

She clasped Fu Zhengtu’s nape with one hand and placed the other on his abs. Just as she had imagined, there were eight well-defined muscles under her palm, the texture incredibly satisfying.

She leaned close to Fu Zhengtu’s ear and, mimicking his tone, gently said two words:

“Alright.”

Like newlyweds reunited after a long absence, everything felt fresh and intense, culminating in a perfect moment.

The first ray of morning sunlight slipped through the gap in the curtains and danced mischievously on the bright bedsheet.

The couple, still wrapped in each other’s arms, slept soundly.

Habitual early risers Zhou Linglan and Fu Yuanhang had already gotten up, finished washing, and started their morning routines. One went to queue for goat milk, and the other began preparing today’s breakfast. In the farmyard, the smell of breakfast and morning chores filled the air, making the ordinary morning seem no different from any other.

Only Su Taotao, achy and exhausted, knew just how different this morning was.

She was both incredibly satisfied and utterly drained. Her internal clock woke her up, but she felt like she was coming apart at the seams.

As the memories of last night came flooding back, she relived every moment in vivid detail. She pulled the quilt up to her chin, blushing, and turned her head to look at the man beside her.

She couldn’t figure out how a guy who spent all his time in the lab could have so much energy.

The man’s sleeping face was as stunning as when she first met him. His long, thick lashes now covered his eyes, adding a touch of gentleness and harmlessness. Only Su Taotao knew that this seemingly harmless man could be ruthless and silent at times, pushing her to the extremes. She could imagine how focused and serious he must be when working in the lab.

As if by telepathy, the man who had been asleep just moments ago suddenly opened his eyes. He slightly turned his head, and his gaze met Su Taotao’s watery, glistening eyes with precision. His eyes, still half-lidded, crinkled at the corners, and a soft smile curved his lips. His thin lips parted slightly, and his morning voice, hoarse and uniquely masculine, said, “Good morning.”

Su Taotao blinked twice. Instead of simply saying “Good morning,” she panicked and pulled the quilt over her head, hiding herself completely.

Soon after, the man’s clear laughter softly echoed above her head…

She wished the ground would swallow her whole!
