Chapter 2
Meng Zeyan was very tall, and it was a bit difficult for him to stretch out when sitting on the small stool. He seemed not to notice and was calm, with a little smile on his face, “Hello, sister-in-law, my name is Meng Zeyan, and I am Meng Zeyan’s brother.”
“Hello brother, my name is Tang Huan, and I’m Meng Zeyan’s wife.” Tang Huan sat up straight unconsciously, his fingers lightly tapping the pages of the book on his lap, and spoke in a serious manner as if he was giving a report.
She almost stood up to answer the question just now, but fortunately she realized it was inappropriate in time and did not stand up and make a fool of herself.
Seeing her little movements, Meng Zeyan looked more friendly. He took out an envelope from his pocket and handed it to her. “I can’t make it back for your wedding. This is a gift for you. I’m giving it to you now.”
“No…no thanks.” Tang Huan was embarrassed to take it. Her brother had passed away, and it seemed inappropriate for her to accept someone else’s gift.
“This has been prepared a long time ago.” Meng Zeyan handed the letter to her again. Before he had time to send the letter, he received the bad news.
Tang Huan looked at the envelope, hesitated for a moment, and finally reached out to take it. He thanked him quietly, “Thank you.”
She was not stupid. She could see that Meng Zeyan’s smile was just superficial politeness. If she continued to refuse, it would not look good.
Meng Zeyan didn’t say anything else. His eyes fell on the Chinese textbook she placed on her legs. There were many marks on the book, and it was obvious that she was reading it very seriously.
He sat there, and Tang Huan didn’t know what to do. He put the book on the table, stood up and walked into the main room.
He found a thermos and a cup, poured a cup of water and placed it in front of Meng Zeyan.
He put down the cup and sat back in his seat, then opened the book and continued reading.
Meng Zeyan’s eyes fell on the top of Tang Huan’s head, which was hanging down. Meng Zeyan couldn’t understand why Tang Huan died suddenly, especially since he went to work in the factory on the second day of his marriage when he was still on honeymoon leave.
He couldn’t help but have some doubts: did Meng Zeyan go to work the next day voluntarily or was he forced to go?
“Tang Huan, come and serve the dishes~” Xing Cui from the kitchen shouted towards the yard. She had gotten used to shouting this in the past month.
“Coming~” Tang Huan answered out of habit, forgetting that his uncle was sitting opposite him. He picked up the book, stood up and trotted back to his room.
When she delivered the book and ran to the kitchen door, Meng Zeyan just came out of the kitchen carrying dishes.
The two plates of food in his hands were extremely full. They were still steaming from the pot and looked hot.
Tang Huan wanted to reach out to take them, but Meng Zeyan raised his hand and said, “There are still some in the kitchen. Go get them. These two plates are hot.”
Since he didn’t give him the way, Tang Huan quickly took two steps back to make way for him.
Meng Zeyan walked over with the dishes and Tang Huan went into the kitchen.
There were two dishes and an egg soup next to the stove. Tang Huan reached for the egg soup.
Xing Cui was scooping rice when she saw Tang Huan’s fair little hands preparing to grab the soup bowl. She said to her, “Tang Huan, you serve the cold dishes, and let your brother serve the soup.”
“Okay~” The hand that had already touched the edge of the soup bowl turned around and picked up the cold dish.
In addition to the cold dishes, there was also a dish of fried bacon. Tang Huan walked out holding the cold dishes in one hand and the bacon in the other. Before, when she helped to serve dishes, she only served one at a time.
Meng Zeyan put the dishes away and walked into the kitchen again. Seeing her carefully serving the dishes, he silently made way.
She put the dishes away, and Xing Cui and Meng Zeyan had already brought out the rest of the food.
Tang Huan had no sense of taste in her previous life. When she tasted something for the first time with her original body, she almost cried. Even bitter gourd seemed delicious to her.
Xing Cui picked up a piece of food for her eldest son and Tang Huan respectively. Looking at Tang Huan’s small body, she couldn’t help but pick up a piece of food for her as well.
This child has lost a lot of weight since Zeyu’s accident, and it’s heartbreaking to look at him.
The original body had a well-proportioned figure. Although not very tall, she had a curvy figure. Ever since Xinzi was replaced by Tang Huan, her body became thinner day by day, as if to fit her soul. Her curvy figure was still there, just in a smaller version.
Fearing that she had some physical problem, she went to the hospital for a check-up, but the doctor found nothing abnormal.
She also tried to eat more every day to gain weight, but to no avail.
Tang Huan’s previous clothes are no longer wearable, so he has to buy new clothes from stores.
Today she is wearing a sunflower dress, a white, waist-hugging V-neck dress with a sunflower pattern printed on it, which makes her look very energetic.
On the table were spicy fried bacon, minced meat and diced potatoes, homemade tofu, cold spinach, and sweet egg drop soup. Tang Huan tried each one and she liked every one of them.
The bacon was a bit spicy, and Tang Huan’s mouth turned red from the spiciness. After eating a mouthful of bacon, he had to drink two sips of sweet soup and eat a few bites of other dishes to suppress the spiciness. But after the spicy taste wore off, she couldn’t help but want to take another bite.
Meng Zeyan didn’t know how much other female comrades ate, but he had seen how much Tang Huan ate. She never stopped eating after she started, two bowls of rice, two bowls of sweet soup, plus various dishes.
He didn’t think Tang Huan ate a lot, but he couldn’t understand how she could be so thin with such a good appetite?
A slightly stronger gust of wind would probably blow her away.
After finishing his meal, Tang Huan gently put down his bowl and chopsticks, took out a handkerchief and wiped his mouth. His lips were a little numb from the spicy food and seemed a little swollen.
She touched it gently with her finger and it didn’t hurt, so it shouldn’t be serious. But she couldn’t help but want to lick it with her tongue.
After finishing the meal, Tang Huan carried the dishes back to the kitchen, wanting to help wash the dishes, but was once again driven out of the kitchen by her mother-in-law.
While his uncle was wiping the table, Tang Huan stood at the door of the kitchen, thought for a while and decided to go back for a nap. It would be easier to gain weight if he ate and then slept.
She lived in the row of houses opposite the kitchen. There were three rooms in that row, and she lived in the middle one.
These three houses were renovated when the original body married Meng Zeyan. Their bedroom was in the one on the left. After Meng Zeyan passed away, the original body was afraid and locked that room.
Tang Huan’s room was quite simple, with only a double-door wardrobe, a single bed and a small desk. As the furniture was in the locked room, she didn’t dare to move in.
After returning to the room and closing the door, Tang Huan stood behind the door and stared at the bolt for a long time, and finally reached out and inserted the bolt.
She trusted her uncle’s character; she was just worried that a stray cat might get in.
Xing Cui was washing dishes in the kitchen. Meng Zeyan came in after wiping the table to wash the rag. While washing, he finally asked what he had been holding back for a long time: “Mom, didn’t Zeyu have a wedding leave? Why did you go to work the day after your wedding?”
Xing Cui stopped washing the dishes and sighed, “It was his apprentice who came to call him, saying that the machine was broken and asked him to go and help.”
Who knew that he would never come back.
“Didn’t your sister-in-law stop you?” Meng Zeyan asked. The newly married couple were in love, so how could Zeyu follow him so easily!
Knowing that her eldest son didn’t know about Meng Zeyan’s situation, Xing Cui continued to wash the dishes. Her voice was accompanied by the sound of washing dishes: “Zeyu and Xiaohuan met through a blind date. They got married after meeting two or three times. The two children are not very familiar with each other yet.”
At that time, I thought that after getting married, I would have plenty of time to develop a relationship, but who knew…
