Reborn as the Big Shot’s Doomed Ex-Wife, I Made Him Fall for Me Chapter 31

Chapter 31

After the elevator doors closed, Jiang Jingzhu typed a string of words on her phone and then exited the group chat.

It wasn’t long before the elevator stopped on the fifteenth floor. Jiang Jingzhu stepped out, and seeing that Assistant Qin was about to escort her to her room, she halted and held out her hand toward him.

Assistant Qin looked at her with some confusion. “Madam, what is it you need?”

Jiang Jingzhu gave him a quick glance and replied as if it were obvious, “Naturally, I want my husband’s room card. What else would I be asking you for?”

Upon hearing that she wanted Mr. Huo’s room card, Assistant Qin didn’t hesitate and took the card from his pocket, placing it in her hand.

Jiang Jingzhu was quite pleased with how cooperative he was. “Alright, you can leave now. No need to see me further.”

Since they had already arrived and Mr. Huo’s room was just ahead, there really was no need for further escort. Assistant Qin politely bid her farewell and stepped back into the elevator, which hadn’t yet closed.

It wasn’t until the elevator doors shut that Jiang Jingzhu looked away, gripping the room card in her hand as she walked toward Huo Xiao’s room.

Although Assistant Qin had arranged for her to stay in the room next to Huo Xiao’s, it was still early, and she wasn’t used to going to bed this soon. She might as well spend more time with Huo Xiao — who knows, maybe they could do something to increase their “Heartflutter Points.”

Speaking of which, the system had been unusually quiet. It only popped up when her Heartflutter Points increased. As long as she didn’t reach out, it stayed completely silent.

Although a bit puzzling, she was actually glad. She would’ve found it annoying to have something constantly chattering in her head.

With a soft “beep,” the door unlocked as she swiped the card.

Pushing the door open wider, Jiang Jingzhu stepped inside and gently closed the door behind her.

She glanced around. The layout was somewhat different from her own room.

The bedroom was untouched, but the living area had been transformed into a simple office space. There was a complete sofa set nearby. Part of the room had also been turned into a bar with a tall counter, and the shelves behind it were stocked with all kinds of liquor bottles.

Although she didn’t know much about alcohol, it wasn’t hard to tell from the packaging that these were all expensive, high-end brands. Naturally, with Huo Xiao’s status, he wouldn’t drink anything cheap.

She wasn’t interested in alcohol, so the bar didn’t appeal to her.

What did catch her attention was the row of bookshelves behind the desk. Jiang Jingzhu guessed that Huo Xiao either had a strong love for collecting books or genuinely enjoyed reading. Not just the manor in Jing City, but even this place had plenty of books.

She casually flipped through a few marked with bookmarks. Although they were well-preserved, the signs of frequent reading were evident. It seemed these books weren’t just for display — they were actually read often.

She hadn’t expected that someone as busy as Huo Xiao would have time to read so many books.

Pulling out a poetry collection at random, she decided to read while waiting for Huo Xiao to return.

Although Chen Che and Chu Wansha were a couple, they still slept in separate rooms in their suite. In this respect, Chen Che was very proper. So far, the most intimate thing they had done was kiss.

As soon as they returned to the room, Chu Wansha started sulking. Pouting and looking wronged, she stared at Chen Che and said, “Brother Che, do you think that woman just now was prettier than me? Do you not like Shasha anymore…”

Before she could finish, tears started streaming down her face. Chen Che immediately pulled her into his arms and comforted her, “What nonsense are you saying? Have you seen any other woman around me these past few years? If I didn’t really like you, why would I have stayed by your side for so long?”

Of course, Chu Wansha knew that. But she just couldn’t stand the look of amazement he had shown toward another woman.

Seeing that she continued to silently cry, Chen Che realized what the root of this outburst was. He softened his tone and continued, “That woman we saw today is indeed beautiful — but it’s just pure admiration for something aesthetically pleasing. It doesn’t mean anything else. In my heart, there’s only ever been you. Didn’t we already agree to get engaged after you graduate? If I didn’t love you, why would I joke around with something as serious as marriage?”

He gently wiped the tears from her cheeks and sighed. “I promise, you are the only one in my eyes and in my heart. From now on, if you tell me to go east, I won’t go west. If you tell me to go south, I’ll never go north. Everything will be according to your wishes, okay?”

Since Chen Che had already admitted fault, Chu Wansha nodded. “It’s not all your fault, Brother Che. I did overreact a little. Don’t be mad at me, alright?”

Rubbing her hair affectionately, Chen Che said in a pampering tone, “Silly girl, how could I be mad at you? You’re my little goddess — if I could, I’d worship you. As long as you’re not mad at me, I’ll do anything you want.”

Hearing that, Chu Wansha finally smiled through her tears and leaned into his arms.

Seeing her smile at last, Chen Che let out a relieved breath.

After hugging for a while, Chu Wansha suddenly looked up and asked about Assistant Qin. “Brother Che, do you know the man we ran into in the elevator?”

“I wouldn’t say I know him, but I’ve seen him once. Why do you ask?”

Chu Wansha clung to his arm and playfully said, “Tell me what that man’s status is, and I’ll tell you why I asked.”

Chen Che didn’t think much of it and assumed she was just curious. “That man is Qin Mian, a special assistant to Huo Xiao. He’s responsible for managing all sorts of matters for Huo Xiao — big and small. Very capable. I saw him at a banquet before, always sticking close to Huo Xiao, which is why I remember him.”

Chu Wansha frowned slightly. She hadn’t expected Jiang Jingzhu’s connection to be not just some random rich heir, but someone far more powerful — a true rising star.

No wonder she could reject her father’s help. After all, the person she found might have connections even broader than her dad’s.

Seeing her reaction, Chen Che realized this might be more serious than it appeared and asked with concern, “What’s wrong? Is there a problem?”
