Chapter 7
After all, she was a little girl and felt shy even when talking about marriage. Hu Xianglan looked at her back and smiled secretly.
What a good day today is!
After going to He Wanjiao’s room to get the certificate, Xu Ning didn’t know what to do next, so she simply sat on the sofa in the outer room and waited. She didn’t know when He Beian would come back.
I didn’t expect that I couldn’t sleep last night. After leaning on the sofa for a few minutes, my eyes started to fight…
She struggled to keep her eyes open, but her eyelids slowly stopped listening to her and closed little by little until she fell into a deep sleep.
······
“Wake up~ Don’t sleep anymore, you will waste time.”
“Wake up~ wake up quickly~”
Xu Ning opened her eyes dazedly, and her legs felt a little numb. There was a loud knock on the cubicle door, and when I looked around I saw that I was indeed in the bathroom.
Not on the train, but in the crew’s bathroom.
She’s back! Or maybe those things were just dreams she had because she read too many scripts!
Hahahaha~, she was really scared.
He slowly stood up holding onto the handrail on the door. The person outside was still knocking on the door. Xu Ning pulled up his pants, unlocked the door, pushed it open and looked out.
The person outside the door looked familiar, as if I had seen him before.
“You’re finally awake! You didn’t sleep well last night, did you? I’ll continue sleeping when you come back later.” The girl was sleeping so soundly that Hu Xianglan had to shout several times before she woke her up.
After regaining consciousness, Xu Ning was still leaning on the sofa, and returning to the bathroom just now was just a dream.
What she thought was a knock on the door was actually Hu Xianglan’s voice calling her to wake up…
The sadness was so great that Xu Ning wanted to curse in the street. She wanted to go back~
How could she, who hadn’t even read a few novels, be qualified to travel through a book? She is willing to give this opportunity free of charge to those hardcore fans of book-traveling novels, and asks all the gods to fulfill her selfless wish!
In fact, Xu Ning couldn’t curse or feel sad. She even had to squeeze out some joy and ask her mother-in-law, “Aunt, is Brother Bei’an back?”
Hu Xianglan was not so unhappy to see her daughter-in-law dazed. “He’s back and is changing clothes. You go to the courtyard and wait for him.”
It is a bit cold in the morning in early spring, but the coldness quickly dissipates once the sun comes out.
Xu Ning found a place where the sun could reach, raised her head and squinted her eyes to bask in the sun. The sun now felt warm on people, but it would be a bit hot by noon.
The clothes he was wearing had been worn for two days. The original owner had worn them on the morning he boarded the train. After being on the train for so long, the clothes don’t smell good, even after hanging them up to dry overnight.
I wonder if He Beian would mind lending her some money to buy some clothes after getting the marriage certificate.
Looking at the door next to him, Xu Ning was not quite sure about He Beian’s personality at the moment. He was completely different from what was written in the script.
I don’t know if the screenwriter failed to grasp the essence when adapting it.
Well, not important. What matters is, can he lend her money?
Was she pretending to be pitiful and asking him to lend her money? Or should you act like he is your wife and try to force him to give you money?
The difference is probably that if you borrow, you have to pay it back. If you want it back… you asked for it with your ability, so why should you pay it back!
He Beian opened the door and walked out. When he saw Xu Ning standing in the yard, he paused and then walked towards her.
Hearing the door opening, Xu Ning lowered his head and turned to look over.
Her eyes, which were originally narrowed and careless, suddenly widened, and the word “Oh my God” that came out of her mouth was quickly covered by her hand.
Although the weather is warm, it’s probably not appropriate to wear a vest, right?
As he got closer, Xu Ning finally moved her hand from her mouth to her eyes. She didn’t like men who were too tall and strong, but that didn’t stop her from appreciating them.
Just like when you are watching a video and see a handsome guy showing off his muscles, who wouldn’t stop to admire him?
It would be a shame not to watch it anyway.
Walking step by step to the clothesline next to Xu Ning, He Beian took the clothes from the clothesline and put them on.
After she got dressed, I asked her, “Have you packed your things? If you have, let’s go.”
Xu Ning put down his hand, took a step back, and nodded.
He Beian didn’t care about her step back, he knew she didn’t want to marry him. When I saw her last night, she was crying. When he saw her in the kitchen this morning, her eyes were red and her eyelashes were wet. She must have cried all night.
There was a bicycle parked at the corner of the west wall. He Beian walked over and pushed the bicycle over. “Can you ride it?”
Xu Ning shook her head. She had studied it but hadn’t learned it.
She couldn’t even learn how to ride that kind of small bicycle, let alone one with a crossbar.
He Beian planned that if she learned how to ride a bike, he would go to his neighbor’s house to borrow one, and they would each ride one. Since she doesn’t know how to ride, he has to ride with her.
He Beian stepped onto the bicycle and handed the household registration booklet and marriage certificate to Xu Ning, “You take it, I’ll take you.”
Xu Ning reached out to take it, walked behind him, took a deep breath, raised her legs and sat on the back seat of the bicycle, holding the marriage documents in one hand and grabbing the bottom of the seat with the other hand.
“Are you ready?” He Beian asked calmly when he felt someone sitting on the back seat of the bicycle, but was not sure if she was seated properly.
“Yeah.” That kind of instinctive resistance was really hard to control. Xu Ning told himself again and again that he was a good person, but he still couldn’t speak as if someone was pinching his throat, and could only make very small nasal sounds.
It turns out that this psychological problem cannot be eliminated even if one changes bodies. The distance between them has exceeded the range she can accept.
But Xu Ning forgot that He Beian had hearing impairment in one ear, and he didn’t hear her whispered promise.
After waiting for a long time without hearing her speak, He Beian patiently asked, “Are you done?”
Xu Ning wanted to say okay and tried to make a sound, but she couldn’t. It was as if the hand that had been around her neck when she was young had never been removed, and had been tightly gripping her neck for all these years.
Unable to speak, she could only temporarily loosen her grip on the seat, reach forward and point at the gate.
He should be able to understand, right?
He Beian not only understood, but also realized that Xu Ning didn’t even want to talk to him.
The bicycle quickly drove out of the gate, passed through the alley, and flowed into the flow of people on the street.
Xu Ning held on to the seat tightly and focused his mind on remembering the route, which seemed to help him breathe more easily. She has always known that she has a mental illness and has thought about saving money to see a psychologist, but it is too expensive. Her monthly living expenses are barely enough to cover the cost of one visit.
She had been hiding it very well for so many years, but she never expected that such a disaster would happen to her.
Xu Ning could still remember the route at the beginning, but as the bicycle turned left and right, she gradually became confused.
More than half an hour later, the bicycle stopped outside the door with the words “Marriage Registry” written on it.
Xu Ning hurriedly got out of the car and kept some distance. As the distance increased, the big hand that was pinching her seemed to disappear as well.
She didn’t know that her face was now frighteningly pale, her eyes were red, and her lips were extremely light.
He Beian parked his bicycle and came over. Seeing her expression, he felt a little sorry. He opened his mouth to say something, but the image of his mother begging last night flashed through his mind, and in the end he said nothing.
He raised his hand and took the information from Xu Ning’s hand and walked towards the registration office.
Qian Sanhong had Xu Ning’s information prepared long ago, and Hu Xianglan had also prepared He Beian’s information long ago.
There were no errors in the information and neither of them had any objections. In just over ten minutes, the marriage certificate was ready.
It was different from the little red marriage certificate in Xu Ning’s memory. Instead, it looked like some kind of honor, like a certificate of award.
After getting the certificate, the two walked out of the marriage registration office one after the other again.
It’s not that He Beian didn’t want to walk with Xu Ning, he also tried to slow down his pace. As a result, after he walked slower, Xu Ning walked even slower…
It was obvious that she didn’t want to go with him.
