Chapter 16: Wen San Gong Zi is Different from the Rumors!
Wen Zhi and the others watched in disbelief as Wen Ji eagerly followed Miss Mu Rong Shu. Was this really their usually aloof third brother?
One of the younger cousins asked hesitantly, “Second brother, did third brother just smile? I saw him smile at Miss Mu, pinch me to make sure I’m not seeing things!”
“You’re not mistaken, I saw it too. And look, now he’s gently speaking to Miss Mu. He used to be so serious when tutoring us. I really envy Miss Mu Rong Shu, waah…”
“Third brother eagerly followed her. I also heard the bell ring. Is it confirmed? Shouldn’t we do something else?”
“Stop envying, go back to uncle, father, and third uncle. Wen family’s big issue is finally resolved after all these years.” Wen Zhi patted his younger cousin on the shoulder and led the way to find their father.
Wen Shou Fu, Wen Meng, and Wen Ji had arrived at the banquet early in the morning. Now, they waited anxiously in the study. When they saw their sons and nephews enter, they eagerly asked, “How did it go?”
“Father, it’s settled, just as we hoped.” Wen Zhi’s words were a reassurance to the Wen family elders, calming them. Then came excitement, followed by joy.
“Where’s Jing Er?” Third Uncle Wen asked, noticing that his third nephew was not there.
Upon hearing Wen Ji ask about Wen Jing, the others excitedly began describing what Wen Jing had been doing at the banquet and how he had followed Mu Rong Shu.
“This is a good thing, a very good thing. Jing Er has suffered so much these years. To have this opportunity now is a great blessing. Let him be happy from now on,” Wen Shou Fu said, his eyes brimming with tears.
“Big brother, we should open the ancestral hall tomorrow and tell our ancestors!”
“Third brother’s right, we should inform the ancestors about this great matter,” Wen Shou Fu agreed with his third brother.
“Let’s wait. Let’s wait for Yu Er to return from Master Zhi’s. We’ll open the ancestral hall then, with the whole family present,” Wen Meng said, his heart heavy as he thought about his nephew, who had inherited the curse.
Wen Meng’s words made Wen Zhi’s eyes turn red. Wen Yu, his son, had inherited the curse at age five. Fearing the worst, they had sent him to Master Zhi, hoping he could break the curse.
Whenever his wife thought about their son, she would cry uncontrollably. Now that Third Brother had found the one who could break the Wen family’s curse, could it mean that his son could be saved? Wen Zhi was filled with excitement at the thought.
“Father, once Third Brother confirms everything, I’ll go fetch Yu Er!” Wen Zhi said eagerly.
“You’ve worked hard. When the time comes, bring Jing Er along, and we’ll visit Master Zhi together. We’ll also ask him about the Wen family’s future and what else we need to do,” Wen Shou Fu decided.
Meanwhile, Wen Jing was explaining the games to Mu Rong Shu in a clear and simple manner. She understood everything right away, and when she had any doubts, Wen Jing patiently clarified them.
The two of them had a harmonious atmosphere. Liu Ru Yan leaned over to Mu Si Shu and whispered, “Brother Shu, I didn’t expect Wen San Gong Zi to be so knowledgeable and patient. He’s completely different from the rumors.”
“Indeed, I wish I had met Wen San Gong Zi earlier. He has such a good temperament,” Mu Si Shu also commented, admiring Wen Jing.
By the time the banquet ended, Wen Jing still felt a sense of longing. It seemed like he could never get tired of explaining things to Mu Rong Shu. After so many years, his cold body and heart had finally begun to feel warmth.
Through countless illnesses, he had hated, resented, and eventually despaired. When he had prepared himself for death, she had appeared, and for the first time, he felt the meaning of life. No longer cold, no longer hopeless.
From now on, his life would be different.
At the banquet, Song Wei and a few familiar ladies were chatting. From a distance, they saw Mu Rong Shu and Liu Ru Yan walking hand in hand.
Just as they were about to leave, one lady urgently grabbed Song Wei. Song Wei looked at her, puzzled.
“Lady Mu, please don’t misunderstand. I’ve been wanting to ask for a while now, but I don’t know which brand of rouge you’re using? Your makeup still looks perfect.” The lady who grabbed Song Wei seemed a little embarrassed.
“Oh, this? My daughter Shu Er made it herself,” Song Wei smiled and explained.
“That’s such a pity. Both Lady Mu and Lady Mu Er’s makeup has made everyone envious, but alas, it’s impossible to buy!” The lady sighed in frustration.
Mu Rong Shu and Liu Ru Yan, walking nearby, overheard the conversation. They exchanged a glance with their second aunt, and Rong Qing relayed the lady’s concerns to Mu Rong Shu.
“That’s easy. Silver Phoenix Building will be selling it in half a month. You can go there and buy according to your skin tone,” Mu Rong Shu explained.
“Is that true?” Upon hearing they could buy it, the ladies were immediately excited.
“Of course, but the production time is long, and it’s sold in limited quantities each month. First come, first served,” Mu Rong Shu winked playfully at Rong Qing.
Rong Qing immediately understood and stepped forward to explain, “Ladies, rest assured, Silver Phoenix Building has always been trustworthy.”
The ladies, now reassured by Rong Qing’s words, happily left for home. When parting ways with Liu Ru Yan, Mu Rong Shu whispered, “You and Aunt Ming should come find me when you’re free. I’ll check your pulse and adjust the beauty cream for you, it will work even better.”
“Ah, Shu Er, you can check pulses? Then I’ll come visit you tomorrow!” Liu Ru Yan was genuinely surprised to hear that Mu Rong Shu could check pulses.
Mu Rong Shu playfully winked. As Liu Ru Yan reluctantly got into the carriage back to her manor, Mu Rong Shu felt that although they had just met today, she was already starting to feel a bit reluctant to say goodbye.
Inside the carriage, Rong Qing eagerly asked, “Shu Er, does this mean the beauty cream will be sold at Silver Phoenix Building?”
“Second Aunt, I’m sorry for making a decision without consulting you first. I hope you won’t be upset with me,” Mu Rong Shu apologized to her second aunt.
“How could I be upset? I’m thrilled!” Her second aunt replied with a smile. She knew very well that the beauty cream her niece had given her was an excellent product. Once it was sold, the profit would be immeasurable.
“Last time I went to Silver Phoenix Building, I noticed there was an area that wasn’t being used effectively. It would be perfect for selling the beauty cream. That way, people can buy clothes and jewelry while also getting the beauty cream, saving them a lot of trouble,” her second aunt continued.
Mu Rong Shu had already considered this idea, though she had initially planned to discuss it with her second aunt. However, since someone had asked about it today, she decided to share her thoughts directly.
“I’ll have a separate area arranged for it right away. I’ll give you 60% of the profits, and I’ll cover the costs of the herbs and the shop. You just need to provide the formula,” her second aunt proposed.
“Sixty percent is too much! You shouldn’t give me that much,” Mu Rong Shu’s mother, Song Wei, immediately objected when she heard how much her daughter was offering.
“Sister-in-law, the formula belongs to Shu Er, so she should naturally receive the majority,” her second aunt said calmly.
“But…” Song Wei began to protest.
“Sister-in-law, if you insist on arguing about this, I’ll get upset,” her second aunt teased.
“Mother, I’ll make sure the beauty cream is even better so Second Aunt can earn more money,” Mu Rong Shu said earnestly, determined to make the venture a success.
“Then I’ll rely on Shu Er’s good fortune,” her second aunt said with a smile.
The conversation about the beauty cream ended once they returned to the mansion. Mu Rong Shu went straight to her study to begin drawing up the plans for the renovation.
