Chapter 3 – A Mysterious Space

“Hello miss, the restaurant asked me to remind you—the porcini mushrooms should be eaten while hot. If they go cold, you must re-fry them in a pan; don’t ever reheat with a microwave, or else you’ll get poisoned and start hallucinating little people.”
The delivery guy handed her the food with a serious face.

“Mm, thank you.” Jiang Yan reached out to take it.

“Then please give me a five-star rating when you have time!” The young man smiled sheepishly, then turned and left.

“Okay.” Jiang Yan closed the door, double-checked the lock, then carried the food inside.

Since the day she received the news of her mother’s sudden death, she, a food blogger, had not eaten a proper meal.

And even now, reborn, she still had no appetite.

But today was her mother’s qiqi—the seventh day after death—so she ordered all her mother’s favorite dishes: spicy crab, poached fish in chili oil, dry-fried porcini with peppers, stir-fried ganba mushrooms with green chilies, fried stinky tofu, sautéed greens, and a small bowl of fragrant rice.

For herself, she only ordered a bowl of Chongqing noodles and a cup of passionfruit lime tea.

After all, only when you’re full do you have the strength to work. Appetite or not, she had to force down something.

But first—she needed to wash away the filth and bad luck clinging to her body.

She set the takeout on the dining table and went straight to the bathroom.

By the time she finished bathing and ate quickly, it was already afternoon.

Even with thirty billion yuan sitting in her account, she didn’t rush out on a shopping spree. Instead, she opened her computer, intending to carefully sort out the things she needed to do and the supplies she must stockpile.

How to spend thirty billion, how to buy and store a lifetime’s worth of goods, which items could be solved with money and which required connections—all this couldn’t be decided on a whim.

What’s more, future disasters were unpredictable. Only by making the most thorough preparations could she hope to survive by adapting to the ever-changing crises.

Fortunately, before her death, her mother had already liquidated most of the family’s real estate, shops, and warehouses, since she planned to follow Jiang Yan around the world to travel and enjoy food.

That left Jiang Yan with far less trouble in managing assets.

Now, they only had two properties left: the luxury villa she lived in now, and one more top-tier villa.

As for cars, just an A-class RV for daily outings, and a Pagani Huayra “Wind God” she used after returning to China.

In her previous life, trapped in the basement, she overheard Song Deming and his mistress talking about the coming disasters: first extreme heat, then torrential rains, then floods and landslides.

Which meant—this villa would be uninhabitable after the heatwaves.

The terrain was too low.

To avoid unnecessary trouble, she decided to buy a high-rise apartment as her base, one that could be prepped against heat, extreme cold, and water leakage.

Renovation, air purification, and formaldehyde removal all took time—so housing had to be the first priority. She would also need the agency to rent her a high-ground, safe, and well-sealed warehouse.

Which meant, her two villas and cars had to be dealt with.

After all, that RV and the sports car would be useless in the apocalypse. Better to replace them with an off-road survival RV.

She’d seen online a foreign model nicknamed the “Doomsday Fortress.” Pricey, yes—but far more durable than ordinary RVs.

Selling the properties, however, wouldn’t be easy.

Rich people usually bought new developments, not second-hand luxury homes.

The easiest to sell were small apartments or suburban houses.

So she would have to list her villas with a steep discount. Better to take a loss now than wait until the disasters hit, when they’d be worthless.

Cars, at least, could be quickly sold at a decent price in the second-hand market.

She also had a few limited-edition Hermès bags and collectible watches.

Those would fetch high prices on the luxury resale market.

And in the Anming City Commercial Bank vault, her mother had left behind a trove of gold and jewelry under her name.

Those, of course, she would keep.

Because once the disasters arrived, paper money would turn to waste. But gold and jewels, at least in the early stages, would still hold barter value.

She had the money.

But what exactly to buy—and how to store it—was another massive problem.

At that moment, Jiang Yan suddenly remembered the “cheat abilities” in the apocalyptic novels she used to read in university—those magical storage spaces bound to jewelry.

She subconsciously stroked her jade bracelet and sighed:
“If only I had a space too…”

In the stories, such bracelets or pendants would activate upon contact with blood.

In her last life, when Song Deming and Zhang Kai cut her hand, her blood had definitely stained the bracelet—but nothing happened.

Besides, she had already gained one ability this life: the man-eating flower.

Yet, as soon as her words fell, the jade bracelet on her wrist suddenly glowed!

Jiang Yan froze. Was she hallucinating?

She rubbed the bracelet again and whispered:
“If only I had a space too!”

This time, the light flared even brighter!

Jiang Yan: “!!!”

Not an illusion!

Excited and nervous beyond words, she repeated the phrase like a magic chant.

Ten seconds later, the bracelet erupted with blinding golden light.

Jiang Yan instinctively closed her eyes.

When she opened them again—

The priceless jade bracelet was gone from her wrist.

And she herself, who just seconds ago had been sitting at her desk in the study, suddenly stood inside a vast, otherworldly space!

So—she had a second rebirth cheat!

Thank you, Mom!

Thank you, past-life me, who suffered and died in despair!

The space reward—it came late, but it came!

Tears welled in her eyes as joy overwhelmed her.

Wiping them away, she steadied her breath and began examining her surroundings.

The entire space was rectangular, enclosed by layers of dense white mist.

The inner area was about the size of a standard soccer field, divided into three sections: black, white, and gray.

The black zone was covered with thick, moist black soil.

It looked rich and fertile—perfect for planting crops.

And unlike the fictional spaces she’d read about, this one had sunlight, wind, and breathable air!

Warm sunlight bathed her skin.

A soft breeze brushed her face.

The air was not only crisp and refreshing, but seemed to carry a healing quality.

In just the few seconds since she arrived, her fatigue, weakness, gloom, and all negative emotions had vanished.

She could even faintly hear the sound of flowing water.

Which meant—this space most likely had its own water source!
