Chapter 33: Writing an Article
After the meal, the children voluntarily took over the task of washing the dishes.
He Yashu looked away for a moment, and the kids had already run outside. She could only shake her head helplessly.
Now that the children were older, He Yashu also felt she should find something to do. Living idly every day was unrealistic. She still needed to work hard together with Zhong Youliang!
But what should she do? During this time period, doing business wasn’t allowed. And unlike other transmigrated female leads, she didn’t have essential supplies — she couldn’t even go to the black market. He Yashu had a bit of a headache.
Then she turned and saw the newspaper Zhong Youliang had brought back and suddenly had a bright idea. Why not write articles? She’d been reading lots of revolutionary-themed books over the past half month. If she wrote along those lines, even if her article wasn’t published, it wouldn’t cause any trouble.
She immediately got to work, picking up pen and paper and quietly starting to draft her ideas. She wrote the whole afternoon. When she finished, she looked at the neat handwriting, placed the manuscript into an envelope, and got ready to mail it the next day.
“Wifey, I’m home!” That silly Zhong Youliang immediately went looking for his wife as soon as he got back.
“You’re back? Go cook, I haven’t made dinner yet,” He Yashu commanded her man bluntly.
“Okay.” Zhong Youliang wasn’t a macho type and cheerfully went to cook.
“Our Captain Zhong learns fast! This meal is amazing,” He Yashu praised him without hesitation. Seeing how proud Zhong Youliang looked, she thought she wouldn’t mind praising him more often — maybe he’d work even harder then.
Little Zhong Ling came running home as soon as it was mealtime, which He Yashu appreciated. After all, it wouldn’t be polite to keep eating at someone else’s place.
Hearing that her dad had cooked again, little Zhong Ling praised him sweetly in her soft, childish voice. Zhong Youliang was practically melting from the mother-daughter duo’s compliments. He decided he would cook more for them after training sessions.
Little Zhong Ling bathed by herself and obediently went to bed. Zhong Youliang flipped over and pinned He Yashu down.
He Yashu told him about her conversation with Zhao Han earlier in the day.
“Wifey, do you really not want to find your biological parents? What if they’ve been looking for you all this time?” Zhong Youliang asked hoarsely.
“I’m not as young as Lingling anymore. Hurry up.” He Yashu slapped him lightly. If they were going to talk, then talk — why stop halfway?
Zhong Youliang was very pleased with his wife’s attitude and put in even more effort.
“Alright, Lingling and I will respect your decision.” Zhong Youliang held her contentedly.
“Okay, send a telegram to Mom and ask if she wants to come stay at the base for a while. Bring Dadan and the others too. Your daughter keeps asking about her older brothers,” He Yashu said tiredly, but thinking of her daughter’s hopeful eyes, she couldn’t bear to let her down.
“Wifey, you’re the best. I’ll send the telegram tomorrow.” Zhong Youliang hadn’t seen his family in three years — it would be great to see his mom and nephews again.
“Hmph, am I only good now?” He Yashu rolled her eyes at him and prepared to sleep.
“You could treat me even better.” That silly man started getting handsy again.
Afterward, He Yashu decided she couldn’t let him be too satisfied — he might be full, but she was the one left exhausted.
“Waaah…” Just as Zhong Youliang was about to go bring their daughter over, he heard her crying and rushed over to comfort her.
“What’s wrong, Lingling? Another nightmare? Daddy will defeat the bad guys for you.” He gently rocked her in his arms.
As little Zhong Ling’s furrowed brows slowly relaxed and she fell back asleep, Zhong Youliang carried her back to their room and laid her on the inside. He cuddled his wife and slept soundly.
