Chapter 17: I’m Afraid of You, a Slut
The window of the passenger seat slowly rolled down.
It was Zhan Hanxiao.
He stared at Jiang Mingyue, who looked like she was about to cry, with a half-smile on his face.
“Hey, are you going to the city?”
Jiang Mingyue was in a bad mood. Looking at the smile on his lips, she felt like he was also mocking her.
“What’s it to you?”
Zhan Hanxiao’s lips curled up.
Oh, this little one has quite the temper.
His gaze fell on her ankle, which was still limping slightly.
It seemed that the abrasion yesterday was quite serious, and she wasn’t faking it.
“Get in, we’re going to the city, and we can give you a ride.”
She hesitated. If she took Zhan Hanxiao’s car, she would be in the city by the time the bus came.
She looked at the car window in the back row. Zhan Hanxiao said, “It’s just the two of us.”
Fan Xiaojun tilted his head. His yellow hair from last time had turned into a black buzz cut, and he looked like a lively young man in seconds.
“Sister, get in the car. We’re just going to the city.”
Before Jiang Mingyue could get into the car, a jeep drove out of the compound gate. It was Luo Mingzhong.
Luo Mingzhong honked the horn twice, signaling her to get in the car.
She gritted her teeth, directly opened Zhan Hanxiao’s car door, and got in decisively.
“Drive.”
Fan Xiaojun thought her attitude was very strong. Her angry and cold face was quite similar to his own Brother Zhan.
In the rearview mirror, the jeep was chasing after them.
In the compound, Ma Xiaolian pushed Wen Ning away, and Wen Ning instantly fell to the ground.
One second she was delicate and weak, and the next second she jumped up, gnashing her teeth. The way she rolled up her sleeves was just like a shrew.
“Ma Xiaolian, you actually pushed me.”
“What if I pushed you? I wish I could slap you to see the King of Hell.
You disgusting thing, it’s bad luck to have you in the compound.”
“You, you dare to scold me?”
“What if I scold you? If you dare to say another word, do you believe I’ll tear your face apart?”
Wen Ning bullied the weak and feared the strong, and she was almost exploding with anger.
Just wait, when she married Luo Mingzhong in the future, you’ll have to come back and curry favor with me.
Wen Ning gritted her teeth and said, “You just wait.”
“Wait for what? Am I afraid of a used shoe like you?
In my opinion, you might not even be a widow. Who knows if your son’s father is really dead?”
Ma Xiaolian spat and twisted her neck to turn around and go into the house, leaving Wen Ning jumping up and down with anger.
Zhan Hanxiao kept staring at the car behind them. It seemed that the car was as irritable as the driver, and it honked the horn several times in a row.
Fan Xiaojun smiled and said, “Sister, where are you going? I’ll take you directly to your destination.”
“County Hospital.”
“Is something wrong?”
Jiang Mingyue didn’t want to answer this question. The tears that were swirling in her eyes were disrupted by the sudden appearance of these two people, and she didn’t even know when the tears disappeared.
Luo Mingzhong was very angry when he saw her get into someone else’s car.
He wanted to overtake, but the road was too narrow. If the car in front didn’t give way, it would be difficult for him to overtake.
The car sped along the dirt road, and the tires kicked up dirt, blocking Luo Mingzhong’s view. He had no choice but to slow down, and just watched Jiang Mingyue leave in someone else’s car.
Zhan Hanxiao deliberately said, “Is the person in the car behind you chasing you?”
“I don’t know him.”
Jiang Mingyue didn’t want to answer, but she was still sitting in someone else’s car.
Zhan Hanxiao tapped the edge of the window with his fingers.
He was wearing sunglasses, and Jiang Mingyue couldn’t see the expression on his face.
The atmosphere suddenly became quiet. It seemed that she did have a relationship with the person in the car behind them.
When the car arrived at the hospital, Jiang Mingyue thanked the two of them and got out of the car, heading straight for the inpatient area.
Luo Mingzhong’s car was parked to the side. When he got out of the car, he cast a cold glance at Fan Xiaojun.
Fan Xiaojun smiled politely at him.
Luo Mingzhong could feel that the person sitting next to the driver was not an ordinary person.
He didn’t stay long and strode to chase after Jiang Mingyue.
Jiang Mingyue asked a nurse for Xiaoxue’s room number and ran to the ward, panting.
Her body had lost too much blood before, and she hadn’t recovered yet. It seemed that she would have to take good care of herself after these few days.
The old lady was holding Xiaoxue, telling her the story of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl.
“The Weaver Girl’s feathered clothes were stolen, and she was rescued by the Cowherd. Then they got married and had a son and a daughter…”
When the old lady got to this point, she saw the couple appear together and a trace of surprise flashed in her eyes.
Didn’t they say they were getting divorced?
Could it be that the two of them had reconciled?
That’s right, how could a young couple hold a grudge overnight?
Thinking this, the old lady felt much better.
It seemed that this kid was still salvageable.
Xiaoxue had a towel on her forehead. When she saw Jiang Mingyue come back, she smiled and said, “Mom, you’ve come to see me.”
“Xiaoxue, let Mom see. Where do you still feel uncomfortable?”
Xiaoxue slowly shook her head, “Mom, I feel better now. The doctor said it’s just a cold.
Mom, I’m sorry for making you worry.”
The child, who wasn’t even five years old, was so sensible that it was heartbreaking.
Jiang Mingyue took Xiaoxue into her arms, protecting the back of her head with one hand, and pressed her face against her forehead. She looked like she was afraid of losing her.
She was completely different from how she had been in the morning.
Recently, she had been like a thistle, pricking whoever she caught.
The old lady smiled and said, “I’m being discharged today, and I happened to see Xiaoxue, so I came to the ward to keep her company for a while.
Your mom went to the doctor to get medicine for Xiaoxue.”
Jiang Mingyue said softly, “Thank you, Grandma.”
Xiaoxue gently tugged at Jiang Mingyue’s shirt and said in a childish voice, “Mom, I still want to hear the story of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl.”
Jiang Mingyue then wiped away her tears, sniffed, and said seriously, “The story that Grandma told is wrong.
The Cowherd is just a hooligan who peeks at girls bathing, and he also hid the fairy’s feathered clothes.
When our Xiaoxue grows up, she has to look at the other person’s character when making friends, and can’t just look at appearances, understand?”
Xiaoxue blinked her eyes as if she understood. Mom was right. If the Cowherd hadn’t peeked at the Weaver Girl bathing, he wouldn’t have brought her home.
The old lady stiffened when she heard this. How did Mingyue tell the story like that?
Luo Mingzhong also frowned, “What nonsense are you talking about?”
Jiang Mingyue ignored her, just let Xiaoxue lie down and helped her re-wet the towel on her forehead with cold water.
The old lady had sharp eyes and saw that Jiang Mingyue was still ignoring her grandson. It seemed that they hadn’t reconciled yet.
Just then, the doctor and Zhao Xuelan came back together.
The doctor saw Jiang Mingyue and his gaze fell on the bandage wrapped around her wrist.
“It’s you, is this your daughter?”
“Dr. Li, hello. She is my daughter.”
“Don’t worry, the child just has a common cold. She can be discharged this afternoon after getting an injection.
By the way, is your wrist better?”
“Much better, thank you for your concern, Dr. Li.”
“You were seriously injured, so try not to run around these days. Eat more nutritious things and try to rest in bed. Also, shouldn’t the stitches on your wrist be removed?”
Jiang Mingyue was on the verge of death when she was sent over, so he remembered it very clearly.
Jiang Mingyue then realized, “Thank you, Dr. Li.”
“Come with me, I’ll help you remove the stitches.”
Jiang Mingyue nodded and followed him to Dr. Li’s office.
