Chapter 127: She Was Completely Wild
This newly arrived Aunt Li was so angry that even her slanted eyes turned red. Her family lived just across the street. Before the New Year, she saw Xie Yunshu selling meals here and initially looked down on her. But later, seeing Yunshu’s business getting better and better, she planned to come over and steal some of her customers.
Unexpectedly, this little girl was young but cunning, with a fox-like charming face. Nobody knew how many men she had already hooked! With this kind of business, why bother selling boxed meals? She might as well just sell meat directly!
Xie Yunshu chuckled inside. She cleaned up the pots and then hopped on her motorcycle, flashing a smile at the woman across the street: “Aunt Li, you’re already this old, yet you still let a bunch of men surround you? Does your husband agree? Truly shameless…”
After saying that, she revved the throttle and sped away. Aunt Li’s eyes not only turned red but her whole face and neck flushed with anger! That stubborn girl—she was clearly the one flirting with men, yet dared to throw dirt on her!
Unfortunately for Aunt Li, her food still hadn’t sold out.
No matter what, Aunt Li’s arrival had undeniably affected Xie Yunshu’s business. She counted the money carefully, sighed deeply, and realized she would earn at least several dozen yuan less today.
Li Fenlan saw her frown so deeply and worriedly asked, “What’s wrong? Business not good today?”
If it weren’t for making fewer meals yesterday, she really might have been unable to sell everything!
Xie Yunshu didn’t want Li Fenlan to worry and smiled at her: “It’s nothing, I’m just a bit lazy around the New Year.”
Li Fenlan gently tucked Yunshu’s hair behind her ear, hesitated a while, then said: “Yunshu, you’re still young, you need to find some support. After your brother finishes the college entrance exam, there won’t be much to do. Mom can still knit sweaters to make money.”
Selling boxed meals made money, but it was really hard work.
Xie Yunshu propped up her cheek: “Mom, are you looking down on me?”
Li Fenlan gave her a playful pinch on her smooth cheek: “You brat, this is your home, who’s kicking you out? You’re only 22 this year. Lu Zhixing married right after turning around, you have to find someone too! Actually, Xiao Ye is quite good — good-looking and a good person, but unfortunately, he’s from Jingbei. If you follow him there, Mom won’t be able to bear it. But then again, if he’s really a good man, Mom won’t object!”
Xie Yunshu nearly choked on her own spit, wondering where Li Fenlan got these strange ideas. She stood up quickly from her stool and shook her head: “Mom, what are you thinking? Shen is just a very ordinary friend! You can’t push your daughter toward him just because he’s a good guy!”
Li Fenlan frowned: “Because he’s good, I think it’s suitable!”
Xie Yunshu was speechless and hurried to change the subject: “Anyway, I know Shen’s family is very powerful. He holds a high position himself. Even Lu Construction treats him with great respect.”
Last time, Shen Suyan said his position was higher than Lin Cuiping’s boyfriend’s. She admitted she had been a bit presumptuous then. But Shen’s gap with her was simply too wide; there was no way he’d fancy a twice-divorced woman. She knew she was pretty, but Shen was a decent man. How could he be attracted by a woman’s charm?
Impossible, absolutely impossible! He was probably just casually mentioning it. After all, men have some competitiveness. If she really pursued him, even ordinary friends wouldn’t be possible. Besides, since divorcing Lu Zhixing, she honestly didn’t want to think about love or relationships…
That statement left Li Fenlan silent. The Lu family looked down on Yunshu, so if someone had a higher status than the Lu family, it would be even more impossible. It wasn’t that she underestimated her daughter; she just knew that marrying down meant suffering, and marrying up didn’t guarantee happiness either.
No matter what, marriage must consider social status.
The next day, Xie Yunshu went to the project site as usual to deliver meals. She hadn’t seen Shen Suyan since yesterday, and the person picking up the lunch boxes still wasn’t him.
Unable to hold back, she asked: “Is Team Leader Shen not here?”
The big guy who picked up the meals explained: “There are leaders visiting the project these days. I heard there’s even a big boss from the South. The new site is about to start construction. Team Leader Shen is busy! Even Manager Tian doesn’t have time to sit in the office!”
Xie Yunshu remembered Shen mentioning the food hall contract after the New Year and scratched her head in worry. But she had no way to get more information. If Shen didn’t come to find her, she had no place to look for him. Could she even ask around where he lived?
She wouldn’t dare to inquire about a single man’s residence — that was a no-go. And Shen himself…
Not wanting to seem too pushy, she shyly said: “Big brother, if you see Team Leader Shen, could you please tell him I’m looking for him? I have something to discuss.”
The big brother, who had a good impression of the pretty girl, smiled and said: “No problem, I’ll tell him when I see him!”
Business was a bit better than yesterday.
Aunt Li sat across on a small stool, accompanied by a young girl, not very tall but rather plump, with the same slanted eyes — obviously Aunt Li’s daughter.
“Chunxing, you stand in front and shout out loud, call out to the men ‘brothers.’ I don’t believe those men can all run off to that little seductress!” Aunt Li changed her strategy, bringing her daughter out: “Push her out! This business will be ours from now on!”
Chunxing was unwilling: “Mom, these men are all farmhands. Why should I call them brothers? Look at their clothes — torn and dirty, disgusting!”
Aunt Li twisted her ear: “You call them, and once we make money, I can help you get connections and arrange a job! Only in the factory can you find a good match!”
Unfortunately, Chunxing was no boxed meal beauty. Compared to yesterday, more people still chose to buy from Xie Yunshu. Seeing her own food nearly sold out, Aunt Li grew desperate. There was still half a pot of food left, and the workers leaving the site were fewer. Aunt Li decided to sell the meals for three mao a portion, or else she’d have to take the leftovers home herself.
Surprisingly, with this tactic, the food sold out quickly.
But just by rough calculation, she wouldn’t make any profit…
With new grievances added to old ones, Aunt Li angrily slammed the pot lid, making a loud bang: “Little sow! Flirting with so many men, claiming to sell meat but who knows what kind of meat! Bah, no shame at all just to make money!”
Chunxing had long disliked Xie Yunshu — a beautiful girl selling boxed meals to grown men, obviously restless. She sneered: “Mom, maybe she just likes dealing with men! Not like me, I get shy even talking to strangers.”
By now, the site outside was deserted; even Qiangzi had bought and eaten his meal and gone back to work.
Xie Yunshu leisurely packed up her things: “Getting shy just talking to someone? Might as well stay home and rot, why come out to embarrass yourself?”
Honestly, her insults didn’t compare to Lin Cuiping’s, who cursed using only the harshest words, or Aunt Liu from upstairs, who cursed fast and viciously, giving no time for a comeback.
Xie Yunshu preferred to be sharp and straightforward or, if needed, use her fists.
Aunt Li had long wanted to chase Xie Yunshu away to monopolize the business nearby. Why should Yunshu come here to compete? Relying on their own daughters, she started scolding and then directly got physical.
Xie Yunshu had practiced fighting since childhood, not only fierce but skillful. Aunt Li and her daughter were clearly no match.
So when Shen Suyan came out of the site, the scene before him was: Xie Yunshu, hair disheveled, riding on Aunt Li’s body, one hand gripping Chunxing’s hair tightly, her expression fierce and wild, blood smeared on her face — she was completely out of control…
