Reborn in the Interstellar World as Cannon Fodder Chapter 109

Souls from the Dark Realm, Part 2

“Yes, don’t worry, it’s fine,” Mo Mo sighed. As long as these souls had a host, they would never disappear. It seemed he had no choice but to support his wife in crafting the puppet dolls. It really did seem like a solution to problems in both realms.

In the Dark Realm, there had once been efforts to gather and nurture these souls, but even with specialized care, many still faded within a few years. These souls were incredibly fragile; they were essentially infant spirits who either never made it to this world or were lost shortly after arriving. They were bewildered and ignorant of the world, and without anyone to nurture them, they simply didn’t know how to grow. Most would disappear into the cosmos without ever understanding their existence.

With Mo Mo’s approval, Ye Mo threw herself into crafting more puppet dolls. Fortunately, her space produced all the materials needed, so there was no concern about running out of supplies. Every time Ye Mo created a new puppet, she would take a moment to communicate with the soul within, asking how long it had lingered in the Dark Realm.

Once, she crafted a puppet with a soul that didn’t respond no matter how many questions she asked. On closer inspection, she realized the soul within was on the verge of dissipating. Ye Mo had to use a soul-gathering technique to stabilize it, but even then, the little soul was still weak—a tiny girl who needed a home urgently.

It wasn’t that Ye Mo didn’t want to nurture her; she was just afraid that if the soul developed an attachment, it would be difficult to part with her later. Ye Mo reached out to Mrs. Rhein again. “Mrs. Rhein, I have a little girl here, but she’s quite frail. 100 million star coins. See if anyone is interested?”

Mrs. Rhein asked immediately, “Will she survive?”

“She just needs some love and care; she’s not ill, just weak,” Ye Mo assured her earnestly.

“Alright, I know someone who would be interested.” Mrs. Rhein had a cousin who desperately wanted a child. 800 million star coins would have been impossible for her, but 100 million star coins was manageable, and more importantly, her cousin is a gentle person.

Mrs. Rhein quickly contacted her cousin Yu Na, who was instantly thrilled. “Thank you, sis! I’ll transfer the star coins right away!”

Once the funds were transferred, Mrs. Rhein sent the money to Ye Mo, who instructed them to meet at a quieter spot on Blue Sky Planet’s pedestrian street. When Mrs. Rhein and Yu Na arrived, Ye Mo was already waiting. She handed the little girl to Yu Na. “She’s a bit fragile and needs all your love. She’ll soon thrive with your care.”

“Of course!” Yu Na said, cradling the baby girl in her arms. The little girl even smiled back, and Yu Na’s eyes filled with tears of joy. “Oh sweetie, you’re perfect!”

Ye Mo handed her a bottle of juice. “Feed this to her.”

Mrs. Rhein had already prepared a vehicle and quickly ushered her cousin and the child into it. “Miss Mo, if we need anything, I’ll be in touch.”

“Alright, take care,” Ye Mo nodded and quickly left.

As Mrs. Rhein drove, Yu Na began feeding the little one the juice. The baby, who had been blinking weakly, soon brightened up, her eyes sparkling with newfound energy.

Yu Na exclaimed, “Sis, it seems like the juice is making her healthier!”

Mrs. Rhein sighed. “The juice she gave you must be useful. I guess Miss Mo wants the child to recognize her relatives directly. Otherwise, it will be the same if she feeds the child herself.”

Yu Na nodded eagerly. “Yes, I will! I’ll take such good care of her!”

Mrs. Rhein smiled. “That’s the spirit. She’s a beautiful child, just a little fragile now. With your love, she’ll grow into a wonderful girl.”

“Yes, yes!” Yu Na couldn’t help but feel blessed holding the baby, who gazed up at her with such trusting eyes. It was a happiness like no other.

Ye Mo returned to her home on Blue Sky Planet, feeling the weight of responsibility settle upon her. Each of these puppets contained a soul; she owed it to them to find good homes.

Thankfully, in a world desperate for children, anyone willing to adopt would likely treat these souls with love. But then she remembered the puppet she had crafted for Yu He. It seemed that the soul that Mo Mo summoned was not a good one. She wondered how that one was faring now.

Using her soul-crafting techniques, Ye Mo easily found Yu He, who had not been taken to the main star by Qin Lin but was instead living in the palace on Blue Sky Planet. At that moment, Yu He was wandering the palace grounds with the puppet child, seemingly intent on showing off to the other women residing there.

Ye Mo noted that the puppet’s previous hostility had softened significantly, and it appeared much more docile now. This soul was unlike the others; it wasn’t translucent but rather a murky gray, hinting that it had once been even darker.

Despite this, Ye Mo didn’t have the heart to interfere further. After all, it was still a soul, and she didn’t want to harm it. If Yu He just took care of the child obediently and simply kept to herself as well as didn’t provoke her, Ye Mo was content to leave things be. But if Yu He stepped out of line, Ye Mo wouldn’t hesitate to act.

“Hey, He’er!” Yuan Lili’s voice echoed, surprising Ye Mo that Qin Lin had allowed Yuan Lili to live in the palace as well.

“Mom, what is it?”

“He’er, I’m worried about your dad living alone outside. Maybe I should move out to be with him?”

“Mom, don’t you want to help me with the baby?” Yu He asked, eyes widening in disbelief.

“But your dad…”

“Mom, His Highness gives him a monthly allowance of 100,000 star coins, and his housing is free. He has more than enough to live on!” Yu He felt her parents were being ungrateful; their lives were far better now than ever before.

“I know, but he’s all alone out there.”

“Mom, didn’t we agree to take turns visiting him once a week?” Yu He gave her mother a pleading look.

“Alright, alright, I’ll stay,” Yuan Lili sighed. To be honest, despite the baby’s fussiness, she had grown attached and wasn’t ready to part with the little one just yet.
