Pet Baby, Part 5
Now that the ghost vines were gone, there was no need for blood sacrifices anymore. For the gnomes, the dwarf gnomes were seen as useless, merely burdens that needed to be taken care of. Since they were no longer of any use, the gnome tribe leader decided to abandon them.
Mo Mo had learned the gnome language and returned to the battleship. He had no intention of witnessing what was going on in the gnome tribe. After all, everything there was so small, and he disliked anything deemed worthless.
When Mo Mo returned to the battleship, the dwarf gnome, Te Man, had woken up and quickly headed back underground. On his way back, before he even reached his territory, he overheard two soldiers talking. The tribe leader had already given the order to slaughter the dwarf gnomes.
Te Man was terrified when he heard this. The pygmy gnomes were truly weak. However, despite their weakness, they weren’t freeloaders. Among the gnomes on the spaceship, they did the hardest and most exhausting work, and they were constantly enslaved.
Te Man couldn’t believe it. Despite all their hard work, the tribe leader still considered them worthless and had decided to execute them.
Te Man hurried back through a shortcut to the dwarf gnome’s settlement and informed the elder of their tribe. The elder immediately made a decision: since the ghost vines was dead and the regular gnomes were too scared to venture to the surface as before, they needed to act. They had no other option, so they would head to the surface. Maybe there, they could find a way to survive.
After all, two battleships had been hovering above for some time, and it was said that they were filled with tall, imposing humans.
No matter what, the elders believed that these humans, no matter how ruthless, wouldn’t be as heartless as their tribe leader, who had planned to massacre them.
Soon, the dwarf gnomes set out. Despite their small stature, they moved with speed and agility. Led by Te Man, they stealthily made their way to the surface.
Meanwhile, the tribe leader had also gathered his forces. However, he didn’t give the command immediately, as he believed the timing for the slaughter had to be auspicious.
Unfortunately for him, this delay gave the dwarf gnomes the time they needed. All the dwarf gnomes who had been working outside also received word and rushed to the surface.
Mo Mo noticed this unusual movement. As soon as the dwarf gnomes reached the surface, they quickly scattered, spreading out across the planet. The planet was abundant in vegetation, and as long as there were plants, they could survive.
At that moment, the tribe leader decided the time was right and led his forces to the dwarf goblin settlement, only to find it completely empty.
His face turned livid with rage. How had this happened? There were so many dwarf gnomes, and now they had all disappeared. They must have known about his plan as soon as he made it, otherwise, how could they have escaped so quickly?
What the tribe leader didn’t know was that ever since the dwarf gnomes had been used as blood sacrifices, their elders had been training the younger ones to run and jump. This training was meant to give them a chance to escape if the worst came to pass.
As a result, the dwarf gnomes were not only fast but also incredibly united. This unity allowed them all to flee to the surface, over ten thousand in total.
Initially, there were over two hundred thousand dwarf gnomes on the spaceship. While their birth rate was high, the desire to have children dwindled after they started being used as sacrifices.
Mo Mo watched as the dwarf gnomes scattered across the planet, and he began to consider whether to save them. He had already noticed that the regular gnomes were closing in to hunt them down.
At this moment, Ye Mo approached him. “What’s happening? Why are so many dwarf gnomes running to the surface?”
“They’re killing each other,” Mo Mo replied, pinching his wife’s cheek, finding it oddly comforting.
Ye Mo swatted his hand away and looked at the surface of the fake planet. The dwarf goblins did look quite adorable, and they seemed very agile.
“Since the gnomes don’t want them, should we send them to the interstellar space?” Ye Mo asked, looking at Mo Mo.
Just then, Yan Mingke approached from behind. “If they’re sent to the interstellar space, they’re bound to be used for research.”
Mo Mo smiled. “Their reproductive abilities are incredibly strong. Sending them to the interstellar space might provide a new area of study.”
Yan Mingke’s eyes lit up. “How about we split them fifty-fifty?”
“Are you sure?” Mo Mo raised an eyebrow.
“Definitely. If humans can no longer reproduce and face extinction, at least they could be the future seed,” Yan Mingke said, reasoning that as long as living beings survived, it didn’t matter if they were humans or dwarf gnomes. After all, apart from their short stature, dwarf gnomes were almost identical to humans.
At that moment, Mo Mo noticed that the regular gnomes were getting close to catching the dwarf gnomes. He quickly teleported to the surface of the fake planet and used his magic to block the exit of the fake planet.
Mo Mo turned to the closest dwarf gnome and asked, “Do you want to leave? I can take you off this planet and guarantee a future for your people. The only thing is, we may need your help with some small research from time to time.”
At most, they’d just need a bit of blood. There were no gruesome experiments in their plans.
“Really?” To Mo Mo’s surprise, the one he had asked was the elder of the dwarf gnomes.
The elder spoke with Mo Mo for a while, learning about the research. He was shocked to learn that these tall, handsome humans were quietly losing their ability to reproduce.
“Alright, we’ll help you with your research, but in return, you have to give us a place to live.”
“Of course, that won’t be a problem,” Mo Mo agreed. He noticed the temperature on the surface of the fake planet was rising. Were the gnomes trying to self-destruct?
Raising the temperature to kill off the dwarf gnomes wouldn’t benefit anyone. What were they thinking?
Because of the rising heat, the dwarf gnomes that had scattered began regrouping around the elder. Mo Mo didn’t know how they communicated, but with the temperature continuing to climb, he quickly contacted Ye Mo. Together, they opened a teleportation portal and transported the dwarf gnomes onto the battleships.
Soon, over ten thousand dwarf gnomes were split between the Seventh and Eighth District battleships.
Mo Mo returned to the ship as well. Looking at the fake planet, where the temperature kept rising, he said, “Let’s go. That fake planet is done for.”
Ye Mo looked at him, her beautiful eyes full of curiosity. “What do you mean, done for? I can’t sense anything. Why do you say that?”
