Reborn in the Interstellar World as Cannon Fodder Chapter 173

The Battle Against the Zerg, Part 2

At this point, not only were all the people of the interstellar space feeling restless, but even Yan Mingke and his troops were itching for action. The battle with the last queen bug had been too easy, and they were eager for another fight.

However, Mo Mo knew that these queen bugs had extremely high defences, and breaking through their tough exterior wasn’t something just anyone could handle. It would take his strength to pierce them. As for the others, they simply didn’t have the power for it.

Since Yan Mingke and the others were so eager for another round, Mo Mo led his team back into the wormhole. Their target was the nearest queen bug, and without hesitation, they launched a fierce attack.

Mo Mo thrust his sword straight into the bug’s body, creating a massive hole. Yan Mingke and his men immediately charged into the gap, entering the interior of the queen bug. But what greeted them inside was a writhing mass of countless snakes, all coiling and squirming together, causing a wave of disgust to sweep over the group.

“Oh my god, it’s all snakes! I’m freaked out!” Many of the viewers following the live broadcast were just as horrified.

“I’m usually not afraid of snakes, but seeing this many… I think I’m going to have nightmares.”

“So, I have a question. Why are there snakes with the Zerg? Aren’t there snakes on the Beast’s side too?”

“Are snakes beasts or bugs?”

“I think some are beasts, and some are bugs. After all, there are snake people on the Beast’s side too.”

“Really?”

“I think so, right?”

“I guess snakes are smart enough to split into two groups. No matter which side faces extinction, the snakes are safe.”

“That’s so true!”

“This is disgusting. I hope General Mo’s army just burns them all to ashes.”

“I remember there were snakes in the last interstellar war, too.”

“Yeah, we lost a lot of people in that battle. Those snakes were all highly poisonous.”

“But why? Why are they always trying to invade us? We don’t even have anything left.”

“Exactly! We don’t have any plants or resources. Our planets aren’t even as good as theirs. Why are they so insistent on invading us?”

“I’ve been wondering about that. Maybe things that don’t belong to you always seem more tempting.”

“I think the best defence is a good offense. General Mo’s strategy is spot on, whether we’re attacking the Beasts or the Zerg.”

As soon as someone made that comment, the live stream showed the interstellar soldiers retreating far away from the queen bug. Everyone then saw Yan Mingke casually toss a piece of paper into the bug’s body.

The paper floated gently but flew straight into the hole Mo Mo had pierced in the queen bug. Then, there was a massive explosion, blowing the bug to bits. Thousands of snakes were blasted out, and some even flew toward Yan Mingke’s team.

Yan Mingke, looking annoyed, muttered, “I was too hasty.”

The entire interstellar audience burst into laughter.

“Suddenly, I think General Yan is adorable!”

“We can’t call him General Yan anymore!”

“Why not?”

“You’ll find out soon enough,” someone with the username ‘Cute Delight’ teased.

But everyone noticed something. Even though the snakes had been flung out, they couldn’t get close to the interstellar soldiers. It was as if there was a protective barrier around them, and every time a snake tried to attack, it was repelled. On top of that, the soldiers responded by hurling fireballs at the snakes.

“Oh my god, what kind of god-like soldiers are these?”

“This is amazing! I wish I could be part of District 8.”

“No, I want to be under General Mo’s command.”

“Yeah, we want to serve under General Mo.” Only by joining General Mo’s forces could they have the chance to learn these incredible techniques.

“How are they this strong?”

“I’m so jealous! Don’t give me any oxygen; let me quietly pass away from envy!”

“I’ve decided to write a formal request. I’m an orphan, so I can fully commit to General Mo without any concerns.”

“Me too, me too!”

“Maybe you should slow down a bit before applying!” Cute Delight spoke again.

Everyone turned to look at him. “Cute Delight, do you know something?”

“You all should have heard by now that both General Yan and General Mo resigned from their military positions, right? So, where exactly are you planning to apply to?”

“Uh…”

“I didn’t know that!”

“Oh no, now I’m really upset. I applied to District 8 and got accepted so quickly… but General Mo already left. What do I do? I wanted to join his team.”

“There’s still a cooling-off period, right? Can’t you cancel it?” In the interstellar military, new recruits had a window of time to change their mind.

“That’s right! I’ll go cancel it now and say I applied it by mistake.” This person rushed to submit their cancellation request.

A lot of people were now hesitant to make any sudden moves. They wanted to join General Mo’s army, not just any random unit.

What they want is to cultivate and become immortals, not to become ordinary interstellar soldiers.

Even the once highly coveted mecha warriors were no longer the hottest thing.

After all, General Mo’s soldiers could storm into the queen bug’s body with their bare hands.

“How do we apply to join General Mo’s team? Can someone point me in the right direction?” Someone finally asked.

“Yeah, anyone has a lead? Cute Delight, do you know the way?”

Cute Delight grinned and typed online, “You just need to find where General Mo lives. Head straight there.”

“Oh right! How could we forget about the Planet Elf? I’m off now!” Someone rushed off to the Planet Elf application page. Since Mo Mo was the leader of the Planet Elf, they saw the application portal as soon as they arrived.

The sudden surge almost crashed the Planet Elf website.

The Planet Elf’s network monitors were startled by the influx and immediately contacted Ye Mo. When she saw the overwhelming number of applications, she quickly filtered them and only kept the applications from people without family ties. Those with families were not accepted, as they didn’t want the Planet Elf to become too noisy.

Once the accepted applicants saw their names on the list, they were ecstatic, jumping for joy.

For those without family, the chance to live in a better environment was a dream come true. Currently, the Planet Elf has the best living conditions in the entire interstellar system.

Soon, this group of people was taken to the Planet Elf for assessment. Only those who passed all the tests would be officially accepted. Otherwise, they would be sent back.

Meanwhile, Qin Lin reviewed the list of those accepted to the Planet Elf. When he noticed that all the applicants were orphans, he realized that Mo Mo was gathering loyal followers. But did Mo truly have a way to teach them cultivation techniques?

Qin Lin regretted that his intelligence had lagged behind. If he had known earlier, he could have sent someone in to infiltrate and uncover Mo Mo’s cultivation methods.

Once he had that knowledge, he could start training his own people.
