Aunt Yu’s Current Boyfriend, Part 1
Originally, Aunt Yu didn’t plan to meet her mother, but now she was genuinely worried that her mother might cause trouble. So, she decided to knock on her mother’s door.
Ye Mo had no idea what Aunt Yu was thinking. If she did, she would surely say that there was no need to worry. After all, any trouble her grandmother could stir up would only be minor.
When Grandma Yu heard the knock, she was momentarily stunned but quickly walked to the door. Peeking through the crack, she saw it was Aunt Yu and her face lit up with joy.
“Minjia!” Grandma Yu opened the door, wanting to embrace her, but Aunt Yu immediately dodged the hug.
“Mom, since there’s no one else around, let’s not pretend,” Aunt Yu said coldly.
“Minjia, I’m your mother. I’ve missed you. Is hugging you considered pretending?” Grandma Yu sounded hurt.
Aunt Yu closed the door behind her and stared at her mother, her voice frosty. “I heard everything you were muttering earlier. I wasn’t going to come in, but when I heard you were planning to cause trouble for Momo, I had to. Tell me, Mom, what exactly has Momo done to offend you?”
Grandma Yu’s face darkened with anger as if she had just remembered something. “She’s not the same Momo anymore. She’s been taken over by a demon who’s invaded her body.”
Aunt Yu couldn’t help but laugh in frustration. “So, because she doesn’t listen to you or blindly serve my brother, she’s not Momo anymore? Why is it that you always expect Momo to give and give, but never let her stand up for herself?”
“Minjia, you don’t understand. I’ve been with Momo every day, and I know her better than anyone,” Grandma Yu insisted.
Aunt Yu looked at her mother with a hint of disdain. “Mom, are you saying that Momo should just continue to be a doormat for my brother?”
“How can you speak like that? Is that called filial piety?”
“Filial piety should be mutual! When it’s not reciprocated, that’s just being a bootlicker,” Aunt Yu shot back, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
“That’s her father! Shouldn’t she be filial to him?”
“And what about his responsibility to raise her? Did he ever fulfil that?” Aunt Yu felt a pang of sorrow, remembering the hardships Ye Mo endured growing up.
“Minjia, that’s your brother!” Grandma Yu’s voice was growing more desperate.
“Yes, he is my brother. But so what? I’m an adult now, and you can’t manipulate me into being blindly loyal to him anymore,” Aunt Yu declared coldly. She had long outgrown her mother’s influence, and despite everything, she had been more than generous to her mother.
The house her mother lived in was supposed to be paid for by her brother, but Aunt Yu had bought it. On top of that, she had given her mother 10 million star coins.
“Minjia, your brother has had a hard life.”
“Are you kidding, Mom? He’s living on Main Planet One now, and he even has his own property. How is that a hard life?” Aunt Yu scoffed.
“That house was given to him by the prince.”
“Isn’t that a good thing? You should be happy for him. After all, Yu He is now the concubine of Prince Caser. What’s there to be unhappy about?”
Aunt Yu continued, her voice laced with frustration, “Mom, if my brother hadn’t been so difficult last time, you wouldn’t have been forced to move to Main Planet One. But Mom did he respond to you? Mom, are you still hoping for something from him? Since he became an adult, when has he ever cared about you?”
Aunt Yu’s barrage of questions left Grandma Yu speechless.
“Mom, please stop bothering Momo. Just stick to your own delusion that Momo has been replaced by someone else. She’s not the person you remember,” Aunt Yu said firmly. “I’ve transferred fifty thousand star coins to your account. From now on, I’ll give you fifty thousand a month. Just leave Momo alone.”
“Fifty thousand?” Grandma Yu was stunned. She had previously received 10 million from Aunt Yu and now she was only given her fifty thousand. How could she possibly accept that?
Aunt Yu had already opened the door. “Mom, this is a middle-class neighbourhood. People here would be thrilled to get fifty thousand a month. You need to be grateful. I’m giving you this money so you’ll leave Momo alone. If I hear that you’ve caused her any trouble, I’ll stop the payments.”
With that, Aunt Yu left. Soon after, Grandma Yu received the fifty thousand star coins. She stood in the yard, feeling a sense of emptiness. She didn’t think fifty thousand was much, especially since she still had more than a hundred thousand in her account.
But apart from Aunt Yu’s monthly allowance, she had no other income. Despite her dissatisfaction, she wasn’t willing to reject the money.
Grandma Yu sighed. At least with the fifty thousand, she wouldn’t have to worry about running out of money or going hungry.
Feeling slightly better, she began to wonder if she could still get some money from Ye Mo. But after a moment’s thought, she gave up. Ye Mo’s heart had clearly turned to stone. Even after causing so much trouble last time, she hadn’t relented. It was obvious that their relationship was beyond repair.
Grandma Yu sighed again. At least one daughter was still willing to support her. She decided it was time to stop stirring up trouble.
If she pushed this daughter away too, she would truly be left with nothing.
Seeing that her mother had finally calmed down, Aunt Yu smiled. She hoped her mother would stay this way and not cause any more issues.
Recently, Aunt Yu had started seeing someone new—an interstellar soldier. Ye Mo had asked her about him, but Aunt Yu had been tight-lipped. Still, she was certain that her niece knew everything.
After all, there wasn’t much that escaped her sharp eyes.
Aunt Yu had come back to District Eight partly to take one last look around. She knew that in the end, they would all be leaving the interstellar realm with Mo Mo. She wasn’t sure where they were headed, but she was eager to go.
After visiting the bank and setting up a recurring monthly payment of fifty thousand star coins to her mother, Aunt Yu left. She had more than fifty million in her account, enough to cover her mother’s expenses for the rest of her life, even if she lived a thousand years.
As she stepped out of the bank, she happened to run into her ex-husband, Fang Dawei. He looked quite different now, almost impoverished compared to before.
Aunt Yu didn’t spare him a second glance and was about to leave when Fang Dawei spotted her and rushed over. “Minjia! Minjia!”
She tried to turn away, but he blocked her path. “Minjia, is it really you? I almost didn’t recognize you.”
“Please move out of my way,” she said coldly.
“Minjia, can’t we get back together?” Fang Dawei had heard rumours that his ex-wife was now very wealthy, with hundreds of millions of star coins in savings.
“Get back together? Fang Dawei, you must be joking.” Aunt Yu shot him a disdainful look. “Get out of my sight. You disgust me.”
Fang Dawei hadn’t expected her to be so harsh. “Minjia…” He actually felt aggrieved.
But before he could continue, a tall, handsome young man stepped in front of him. “Didn’t you hear her? She told you to get lost!”
“Who are you?” Fang Dawei asks, suddenly feeling a sense of crisis when he sees this handsome young man.
