Obtaining a Divine Artifact 2
A divine artifact? Ye Mo didn’t know what a divine artifact was, but judging from the tone of these two ghosts, it was definitely something valuable. The item was hers now, and there was no way she was going to let them take it from her. Quietly clutching the ring, she retreated. She still had some distance to cover before reaching her dwelling, but once there, she would be safe.
“Well, it’s said to be a divine-level ring, but it’s not something our ghost clan can use. It’s a treasure meant for the human realm, and the Ghost King intended to give it to his grandson.”
“Is the Ghost King’s grandson in the human realm?”
“I don’t know. All I know is that, according to the Ghost King, no one else can use it—only his grandson.”
“Could another ghost have picked it up?”
“Impossible. Haven’t you seen my gloves? I have to use these special gloves to hold onto the artifact. If I touch it without them, it would disappear instantly.”
“Oh, how terrifying. We must find it quickly.”
Ye Mo, still holding the ring, hadn’t disappeared. It seemed that learning how to use the item from these two ghosts was not going to be possible.
Silently, Ye Mo sneaked away. She was just a wandering little female ghost who knew nothing. After she left, the two ghosts searched the area for a long time but couldn’t find the ring.
As for Ye Mo, she didn’t know where to hide the ring, so she simply swallowed it. As long as she wanted to retrieve it, she could easily do so.
More than a decade passed in the blink of an eye, and Ye Mo had now reached the twelfth level, becoming an average-level ghost soldier. Over these past ten years, she had learned many things. For instance, from level zero to level ten, one was considered a lower-level ghost soldier; from level eleven to level twenty, an average-level ghost soldier; and from level twenty-one to level thirty, a higher-level ghost soldier.
Beyond ghost soldiers were ghost warriors, who were also divided into lower, average, and higher levels. Above them were the Ghost Lords, with ranks of primary, intermediate, and advanced levels, granting them more prestigious status.
Although Ye Mo had reached level eleven in her cultivation, becoming an average-level ghost soldier, she was still considered a lower-level ghost in the Dark Realm.
Despite successfully evading many ghosts over the years, sometimes her luck ran out—like now, as a higher-level ghost soldier stood before her. Although his level was only slightly higher than hers, his strength completely overwhelmed her.
Ye Mo hadn’t noticed him at first. If she had, she would have fled immediately. She was extremely fast when it came to escaping. Even though he was a higher-level ghost soldier, he wouldn’t have been able to catch her if she had taken off.
This higher-level ghost soldier was looking at Ye Mo with an infatuated expression. It had to be mentioned that Ye Mo was considered quite beautiful in the Dark Realm.
At that moment, Ye Mo suddenly looked behind the higher-level ghost soldier and shouted, “Lord Ghost!”
Hearing the title “Lord Ghost,” the high-ranking ghost soldier immediately dropped to his knees, his legs trembling. But as he turned to beg for mercy, Ye Mo had already dashed away.
Lord Ghost? Ha! As if there would be a Lord Ghost in a place like this! It was surprising enough to encounter such a high-class ghost soldier here.
Ye Mo quickly realized that this higher-level ghost soldier was definitely here to hunt down little ghosts, and it was just her bad luck to run into him. She knew she had ventured too close to the ghost city and had made a big mistake. She resolved to stay far away from such places in the future.
Though she had never been inside, the old ghosts had warned her that the ghost city was truly dangerous. After all, she was a ghost carrying a great treasure inside her—a treasure she had learned to communicate with over the years. The occasional aura emanating from the ring was enough to sustain her cultivation.
If she hadn’t been greedy and tested herself in an area with heavy ghostly energy, she wouldn’t have encountered this fellow.
The high-ranking ghost soldier, realizing he had been tricked, became furious and immediately chased after Ye Mo. However, the further he ran, the more he felt something was wrong. There was no trace of ghostly energy here, and he felt suffocated. Yet, why could the medium-ranked ghost soldier in front of him still move swiftly without any hindrance? Why wasn’t she affected at all?
The high-ranking ghost soldier pondered for a moment, feeling somewhat reluctant. He decided to use a magic weapon he had recently acquired from the ghost market and hurled it directly at Ye Mo.
He had just obtained this magic weapon and knew only that it could inflict tremendous damage on ghosts, though the specifics were unclear to him.
After using this attack, the high-ranking ghost soldier felt his ghostly power deplete somewhat. If he stayed in this place any longer, he would probably dissipate.
Although he was unwilling to leave, he ultimately retreated back toward the ghost city.
As he left, the thrown magic weapon pursued Ye Mo, following her closely. She realized that the weapon was specifically targeting her and wouldn’t give up until it struck her.
Ye Mo quickly invoked her ring—the only item she had at hand. With a snap, a golden light enveloped Ye Mo’s hand, but she immediately felt her entire soul begin to disintegrate.
This magic weapon was designed to break apart ghostly bodies—it was truly malicious!
As Ye Mo’s soul began to dissipate, she was startled to find that the ring started absorbing her scattered body.
The magic weapon fell to the ground after attacking her, and as Ye Mo dissipated, she noticed the weapon resembled a brick.
Soon, another ring fell beside the brick-shaped treasure. The ring was pitch black, and with these two precious items left in the ghostless area, it was uncertain if any ghosts would ever discover them.
After all, other ghosts couldn’t stay in this area for long since there was no ghostly energy or suitable environment for ghostly beings.
When the high-ranking ghost soldier returned, he found that he couldn’t retrieve the thrown treasure anymore.
This frustrated him because the seller had claimed it could be used repeatedly.
As time slowly passed, Ye Mo regained consciousness and realized she had already reached level sixteen. Although she was still a medium-ranked ghost soldier, she was close to becoming a high-level ghost soldier.
But she also made a shocking discovery—she was now inside the ring and could see its entire interior. The ring turned out to contain a space, and the things within it were astonishing.
For example, where she currently resided was a lake resembling the Yin-Yang symbol. Her body was immersed in black water representing the Yin element, while on the other side was clear, translucent white water. Moreover, a rich fragrance emanated from the water, the same scent she had used for cultivation.
