Reborn in the Interstellar World as Cannon Fodder Chapter 4

Greed Causes Trouble

Ye Mo had lost track of Mo Mo after chasing them. She hadn’t seen him since, but she still held a favorable impression of Mo Mo. Feeling a sense of righteousness, Ye Mo confronted Qin Lin with a stubborn glare. “Who gave you the right to involve the innocent?” she demanded. After all, she was already implicated, so she might as well make the most of the situation. It was Qin Lin who had caused all the trouble; she was just a bystander.

Qin Lin was infuriated by her accusation. So, after all the things she had stolen, it was somehow his fault? Initially, Qin Lin suspected that this little girl might be connected to Mo Mo, but it seemed they had no connection after all. Mo Mo was an arrogant, handsome ghost, and it was unlikely that he would associate with a poor girl like her.

Yet, despite his frustration, Qin Lin found something intriguing about this girl. She seemed to have a knack for targeting other people’s warehouses.

“Little girl,” he warned, “if you keep causing trouble like this, you might not only harm me but also yourself!” He wanted to temper her reckless behavior.

Ye Mo, however, was unyielding. “I could say the same about you causing trouble for me!” She could have entered her own space by now, but she was afraid Qin Lin would leave. After all, she didn’t know the way back to the dark realm.

Qin Lin was left speechless. There were too many cultivators pursuing them. He quickly pulled out a worn-out boundary-breaking talisman, activated it, and tore open the space, disappearing from the world with Ye Mo.

This time, they arrived in the mortal world. Qin Lin strolled leisurely with Ye Mo through a world filled with delicious food. He introduced her to a variety of worldly delicacies, which captivated Ye Mo. The flavors were incredibly tasty and fragrant!

“Little girl, what treasures do you have on you?” Qin Lin inquired, his curiosity piqued.

“I don’t have any treasures,” Ye Mo replied, casually making up a story. “But I do have a spatial ability.” She had learned a lot recently and had just heard the term “ability” from some human cultivators. So, she claimed it as her own.

To her surprise, Qin Lin believed her. After all, he also possessed an ability. Though he practiced ghost arts, his ability was powerful, with an icy attribute. “Little girl, we’re the same kind of people!” he declared.

“The same kind of people?” Ye Mo asked, puzzled.

Qin Lin’s face brightened with a smile. “Exactly! You have an ability, and I have an ability. By the way, is your space large?”

Ye Mo suddenly became cautious, sensing the calculations behind his words. “It’s large enough, but I won’t give you anything from it. What are you planning? My space isn’t for burying corpses!”

Was this guy planning to kill someone? After all, this was the human world, and if he caused trouble here, who knew how many people would be harmed?

Annoyed, Qin Lin flicked her forehead. “Little girl, I just thought it would be a waste of time not to enjoy ourselves while we’re here. Don’t you think there are plenty of delicious delicacies?”

“And then?” Ye Mo blinked her eyes.

Qin Lin smirked. “Just like before, I’ll take you along, and you can collect things from people’s warehouses. How about it? After we’re done, we’ll return to the dark realm.” They could split the spoils equally later. He didn’t want to waste his efforts for nothing.

“But this is just the mortal world,” Ye Mo said, unimpressed. Even if she took things from here, what use would they be?

“Oh well, no matter the world, if it’s free stuff, it’s good, right? At worst, when you receive offerings from humans in the future, you can repay them by giving some of those items back. Besides, you can at least enjoy the aroma of those delicious foods,” Qin Lin persuaded her.

Seeing the opportunity, Ye Mo quickly agreed.

And so, Qin Lin resumed his spree, targeting the wealthiest households and company warehouses. As Ye Mo passed by some bookstores, she discovered novels and couldn’t resist picking up a book from a girl’s room. She became so engrossed that she continued collecting novels along the way, with Qin Lin’s help. She even learned the language here.

Ye Mo felt truly happy at that moment. She was accepting everything that came her way without restraint. Initially, she didn’t want to go overboard, but since she had already taken some things, she decided to take everything she could.

Feeling content, Ye Mo thought that since Qin Lin had brought her here, any trouble that arose would be his responsibility, not hers!

However, what Qin Lin and Ye Mo didn’t anticipate was that a Ghost Venerable had arrived in the area. This was the Ghost Venerable’s homeland, and upon discovering that the legacy he had left for his descendants had been stolen, he was furious.

The Ghost Venerable began tracking them. Given that Ye Mo was only a middle-level ghost soldier and Qin Lin a high-level ghost general, they were no match for the Ghost Venerable. He quickly found their traces. When he confronted them, Qin Lin wasn’t too concerned, but Ye Mo was so terrified that her legs trembled, unable to stand.

The Ghost Venerable narrowed his eyes at Qin Lin. “The Qin family?”

“Yes, I’m from the Qin family. And you are?” Qin Lin responded.

“Who I am is none of your concern. You must pay for what you have done.”

“And if I don’t?” Although he was facing a Ghost Venerable, Qin Lin remained unfazed. After all, the Qin family held a high position in the dark realm.

“Do you think being from the Qin family gives you the right to do whatever you want?”

“Elder, we’re causing trouble in the mortal realm, not the dark realm, right?” Qin Lin smirked. In the Qin family, he was well-liked, and any small troubles he caused could be easily handled by his family.

“This is my homeland,” the Ghost Venerable coldly snorted. Even if they were from the Qin family, so what? If he killed them here, who would know it was him?

The Ghost Venerable was truly enraged, and he struck out with a powerful palm.

Qin Lin, with his higher cultivation and good magical treasures, dodged the attack and tore open the space to escape with Ye Mo. However, to his shock, Ye Mo had already been dispersed by the Ghost Venerable’s attack.

As Qin Lin escaped, he angrily declared, “Just wait, I will take revenge!”

In the moment of her dispersion, Ye Mo’s only thought was that it was over; her ghostly life was over!

She didn’t know how much time had passed, but when Ye Mo regained consciousness, she realized that she was no longer a ghost, as she no longer had a ghostly body.

Reminder: This is not my work. The author’s name is Li Xin Yu.

P.S. Although in the previous chapter, Qin Lin’s cultivation, I wrote, Ghost Lord, and in this chapter, it became Ghost General which ranked lower than the former but I translated it based on the author’s novel, so there must be no mistake here. Maybe because he is a high-level ghost general so it counts as his cultivation base is on level Ghost Lord.
