Reborn in the Interstellar World as Cannon Fodder Chapter 46

Revenge

Ye Mo watched as the Lao San approached her step by step, a smile forming on her face. “You are Lao San, right? Can you tell me who sent you? Remember, even if I kill you, I won’t have to bear any consequences. Maybe the person who sent you here is trying to get rid of you, too?”

Being pregnant came with certain perks, such as not being charged with a crime if it was in self-defence. Ye Mo didn’t have to hold back at all. In fact, in this interstellar society, true powerhouses had no restrictions—laws against murder didn’t apply to the strong.

Lao San paused, shaken by her words. Could this really be a setup? But the man, Lao Er, already lying on the ground, scoffed, “Don’t listen to her, third bro! Be careful, just don’t get hurt. This woman is worth two hundred thousand!”

“Two hundred thousand?” Lao San hadn’t been aware of the price before. Hearing it now, he was tempted, especially since Lao Er was incapacitated with a broken back, which would take at least half a year to heal. So, the two hundred thousand were his to claim.

“Yeah, two hundred thousand! Just be careful and keep her alive,” Lao Er reminded him, emphasizing that she had to be brought in unharmed.

Despite Lao Er’s repeated warnings, Lao San was still careless. As soon as he got close, Ye Mo kicked him away. Lao San fared worse than Lao Er; he flew back, smashing his head on a rock and passing out in a pool of blood.

Lao Er, seeing Lao San in such a state, was horrified and started to cry. “Lao San, wake up! Wake up!”

But he was too far away to reach him, and his own injuries made it impossible to move.

Ye Mo walked over to Lao Er and bent down to look at him. “Have you thought about what you’re going to say? This is a desolate place—perfect for burying bones.”

Lao Er swallowed nervously. “I—I don’t know anything… Ahh!”

With a crunch, Ye Mo stepped on his arm, dislocating it. “Think carefully. Do you want to keep this arm?” She was more than capable of crushing it completely.

Ye Mo could have just pulled the memory from his mind and looked at it, but doing so would likely leave him a vegetable. Besides, she wasn’t interested in seeing something she might regret.

Terrified and in pain, Lao Er relented. “I’ll tell you! Our leader said a guy named Zhang Yuming hired us. He paid us to kidnap a woman—he said if we did, we’d get two hundred thousand.”

Ye Mo let go, processing the name Zhang Yuming. This scumbag just couldn’t stay out of trouble, it seemed. Time to teach him a lesson.

She jumped back into her vehicle and left. Only after she was gone did Lao Er call for help.

Ye Mo returned to the villa. In her memories, she knew Zhang Yuming’s address, but she wasn’t planning on going there just yet. Revenge had to be carried out quietly and without leaving traces.

That evening, Mo Mo arrived at the villa. He had been incredibly busy these days, even after publicly declaring he wouldn’t expand nutrient production. Despite this, calls kept coming in.

Even the Mo family tried to threaten him, saying if he didn’t provide them with nutrients, they would expel his parents from the family. Mo Mo, however, remained unfazed. When he had been kicked out, those parents had been little more than bystanders. Why would he care now?

The Mo family had underestimated how little this threat meant to him. Meanwhile, his parents quietly regretted abandoning him. If only they had known how things would turn out, they wouldn’t have cast him aside. He could have been their pillar of support. But it was too late now.

Many people who had known Mo Mo before tried to get nutrients from him. Mo Mo only supplied a few trusted friends with one tube per day; for everyone else, the answer was no.

Mo Mo found Ye Mo in good spirits and didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary from her outing earlier. They had dinner together on the rooftop, and while Ye Mo didn’t say much, Mo Mo was already satisfied just to be in her company. It meant she didn’t reject him. But after the meal, Ye Mo excused herself, claiming she was tired, and went to rest.

Back in her room, Ye Mo performed the Soul Departure Technique. Because this wasn’t her original body, it was easier to do, but she couldn’t stay separated for too long. Otherwise, her body might no longer accept her.

Now in her spiritual form, Ye Mo drifted out of the villa.

The moment she left, Mo Mo sensed something but couldn’t quite put his finger on it. He returned to his room, still puzzled.

Ye Mo floated all the way to Zhang Yuming’s house. Inside, Zhang Yuming and his family were drinking nutrient tubes, the cheap kind. Apart from his parents, he had a sister who was also close with Yu He and had bullied the original Ye Mo repeatedly.

Tonight, she was going to settle the score on behalf of the original owner!

“Ah Ming, maybe we should keep our distance from Yu He,” Zhang Yuming’s mother suggested, worried about provoking Yu He’s current boyfriend, a prince.

“Mom, if I keep my distance, I won’t get paid,” Zhang Yuming replied, smugly handing his mother a credit slip worth fifty thousand.

“Exactly. If Ah Ming stays away, there goes our money,” his father added, fully supportive of exploiting Yu He.

“Brother, be nice to Sister Yu He!” Zhang Yuer reminded her brother.

“Don’t worry, I’m nice to her!” Zhang Yuming grinned. He had hired people to kidnap Ye Mo and was confident in the plan. The hired goons knew the address but hadn’t been paid in full yet, so they hadn’t acted.

Ye Mo drifted into Zhang Yuer’s room, setting it ablaze, then did the same in Zhang Yuming’s room. Once her work was done, she floated back outside to watch.

It wasn’t until the Zhang family began screaming and rushing out of the burning house that Ye Mo turned and left. She hadn’t planned on killing them today, but making them lose what they cherished was satisfying enough.

Down below, the Zhangs were yelling in panic. They tried to put out the fire, but Zhang Yuming and Zhang Yuer’s rooms were completely destroyed.

Ye Mo floated back toward the villa, but to her surprise, halfway there, she was hit by a flying vehicle. Normally, this wouldn’t be an issue, but this particular vehicle was piloted by Qin Lin. Who knew what was going on with him? Ye Mo was sent flying from the impact.
