Celebrating Too Early, Part 1
While Ye Mo was having dinner with Grandma Yu and Aunt Yu, her aunt mentioned the news circulating on the Star Network.
“Momo, I wonder who’s so lucky to be marrying General Mo,” Aunt Yu said, her voice filled with anticipation.
“Aunt, it doesn’t concern us, right?” Ye Mo knew General Mo was referring to her, but had she admitted it? She hadn’t, yet he seemed eager to attach himself to her.
Ye Mo was feeling a bit down lately. She was now four months pregnant, and logically, the baby should be developing. However, it remained just a small glowing dot. She was puzzled as to why the baby wasn’t growing. What was going on?
Ye Mo wondered if it had something to do with her being a ghost cultivator. She knew that a baby needed vitality, while her cultivation required the opposite.
It seemed she needed to speed up her soul-leaving cultivation. If it truly affected the baby’s development, that would be a problem.
After dinner, Ye Mo went straight upstairs, skipping the usual chat with her grandma and aunt. It was obvious her grandma’s mood had been off recently.
Ye Mo suspected it had to do with those older women who had been visiting, but she couldn’t focus on that now. She sent her aunt a message, asking her to keep an eye on Grandma’s mood, and her aunt replied that she would.
With Aunt Yu around, Ye Mo felt reassured.
When she got upstairs, she knocked on General Mo’s door, but he wasn’t there—probably dealing with something at the camp.
After leaving a note on her door saying “Do not disturb as I’m cultivating”, she informed her aunt that she’d be cultivating for a while and would come down for meals later. Then, she locked her door and entered her private space.
Ye Mo prepared a bathtub, and after sitting in it, she immediately used her soul separation technique. Once her soul body emerged, she filled the tub with Yang side water, and her soul body moved to the Yin side.
While soaking in the Yin water, Ye Mo observed her physical body. She noticed the little one in her belly was jumping around happily, clearly enjoying the water.
Ye Mo ended up cultivating for two days and nights. During that time, she added the vitality water to the tub twice.
When her soul returned to her body, she noticed something surprising—her belly had grown significantly, now looking as though she were seven or eight months pregnant.
Ye Mo stared at her belly in disbelief. How had it grown so large so quickly? Why?
Even though she’d only been separated from her soul for two days and nights, she now felt a bit uncomfortable in her body. What should she do?
Ye Mo left her private space and lay down on her bed, just as a knock sounded at the door.
Too lazy to get up, she used a spell to open the door, and General Mo rushed in, clearly worried. “Momo, you’ve been inside for two days…”
General Mo stopped mid-sentence when he saw her suddenly enlarged belly. He pointed at it in shock. “Momo, how did your belly grow so much all of a sudden?”
Ye Mo’s mouth twitched. “I just soaked in some vitality water, and it turned out like this.” She had already checked her belly—what was once a small glowing ball was now a larger one, but it still refused to reveal its appearance. How shy could her baby be?
“The vitality water made it grow?” General Mo asked, anxious. “Momo, should we go to the hospital for a check-up?”
Such sudden growth—could it harm her body?
“I don’t feel anything wrong!” Ye Mo was more worried about being detained for research at the hospital. After all, they’d probably never seen a pregnant woman like her before.
“Momo…”
“General Mo, do you think the Interstellar Hospital would leave me alone, or would they want to study me?” Ye Mo looked directly at him.
General Mo hesitated. There was a real possibility of that. “Then, should we go to the camp?”
“I’d rather not. I’m afraid someone might try to harm me!” The feeling of constantly being in danger was too strong. She didn’t want to take that risk.
“I think I’m fine. I’m not going,” Ye Mo said as she lay on her side. It was already difficult to lie on her back comfortably.
At that moment, her wristwatch started buzzing with messages—left by Aunt Yu while she was in her private space and had just now come through.
Ye Mo skimmed them. Aunt Yu had told her not to cultivate for too long, as it could affect the baby’s development. She also mentioned that Grandma Yu had been distracted lately because she’d been in contact with a man.
This man, one of her card-playing friends, lived nearby in the wealthy district. Aunt Yu had gone to observe him and didn’t think much of him.
Although Grandma Yu hadn’t met the man in person, she was clearly interested because he had been treating her so well.
Aunt Yu wanted to know Ye Mo’s opinion. She wasn’t opposed to her mother remarrying, but the most important thing was not to let her be taken advantage of.
So far, it seemed there was no immediate issue with the man.
As Ye Mo read the messages, General Mo stood beside her. “I’ll investigate that man,” he said.
Ye Mo nodded. “You’d better hurry. I think Grandma should get married soon.” For some reason, Grandma Yu’s situation made her uneasy. If Grandma Yu caused trouble when she was giving birth and someone took her child, she wouldn’t know where to cry.
General Mo went off to investigate the man, while Ye Mo cast an illusion spell on herself, making her appearance look unchanged to others.
When Aunt Yu saw Ye Mo finally come out, she rushed over anxiously. “Momo, is your belly okay after all that cultivating?”
“Don’t worry, Aunt. I’m fine!” Ye Mo sat on the spacious couch in the living room and looked at her aunt. “Aunt, where’s Grandma?”
Aunt Yu’s face clouded with worry. “She’s in her room, getting ready. She’s really invested in this.”
“How old is that man?”
“He’s quite young, around my age.” That was part of what troubled Aunt Yu—the man was around her age but seemed interested in her mother.
“Isn’t that age difference a bit problematic?” Ye Mo asked hesitantly.
“As long as they like each other, it’s not a big deal. But I’m worried the man is after you,” Aunt Yu said. She had a feeling that the older women from before were targeting Momo, and this man might be setting a trap for her mother.
“I’ll have someone look into it. We’re not at the critical point yet,” Ye Mo said, but she was speaking too soon.
While the two of them were talking, Grandma Yu was in her room, putting on makeup and dressing up. She had arranged to meet the man, and she wanted to look young and beautiful. However, she found all her clothes too old-fashioned for the occasion.
