Reborn in the Interstellar World as Cannon Fodder Chapter 60

Interstellar Crisis 5

Mo Mo felt a deep sense of fate connecting him and Momo. After all, how else could they have ended up together in the vastness of the interstellar space? What was even more significant now was that they were expecting a child.

As he thought about this, a smile spread across Mo Mo’s face. His guards, however, were alarmed by this sudden change in expression. What was the general plotting now? Last time, this same look had preceded the annihilation of an entire faction of the Orcs.

Could the general be about to unleash his wrath again?

But the guards had other concerns as they focused on their current task: harvesting locusts from the battlefield. The video of the Transcendent Plant Master preparing locusts had gone viral on the Fisherman’s Platform, causing a surge in demand. Fortunately, the area they were stationed in was teeming with locusts.

The general had stated that any locusts collected could be sold on District 8’s official website, with only a 10% commission fee; the rest of the profits would go to them.

The soldiers in District 8 were energized and fighting hard. Unlike before, when they had been wary of these creatures, now they were enthusiastic. They were careful to ensure they brought back intact locusts, as whole specimens were necessary for sale.

Though the soldiers received subsidies, the lucrative opportunity presented by the locusts was too tempting. The insects were so numerous that they could catch five or six per minute, and those with quick reflexes could capture even more.

Mo Mo was pleased with the scene before him.

However, while all the other soldiers were in their mechas, Mo Mo stood without any protection. Yet, none of the locusts dared approach him. Having regained his memories and strength, Mo exuded an aura that kept the creatures at bay.

Mo Mo had tasted the locusts prepared by Momo, and they were incredibly delicious! The rich nutrition in them was clearly beneficial, which meant that eating them must be good for her.

Mo Mo summoned his sword and swiftly cut down dozens of locusts. His technique was precise, severing their legs and wings cleanly, leaving the remaining parts neatly packed for his wife.

Momo, busy and exhausted, was abruptly awoken by a flood of emails from Mo Mo. Each email contained dozens of neatly prepared locusts, interrupting her much-needed rest.

She felt a bit annoyed at the disruption to her sleep but understood the importance of the task. Noticing her increased weight, she wondered if it was related to the pregnancy, though she hadn’t been practicing recently. Her belly was as large as before, with the baby inside seeming to grow even more.

Ye Mo sighed and gently touched her belly, “Little one, do you enjoy fried locusts too?”

While the nutrition was beneficial, she worried that eating only fried locusts wasn’t ideal.

After receiving around thirty to forty emails, Ye Mo informed Mo Mo that she had enough locusts for now.

Mo Mo acknowledged her message and ceased his efforts. After a lengthy battle, they had nearly cleared a third of the locusts. He noticed that other armies were also entering their area, seemingly in pursuit of the insects.

Mo Mo didn’t mind their presence. The locusts were the enemies of the galaxy, so he welcomed any help.

Upon their arrival, Mo Mo discovered that these were mostly civilian organizations, many from District 8. He told them to feel free to join in; the locusts were abundant, and the proximity to the insect-ridden wormhole made their efforts even more valuable.

In fact, Mo Mo’s deployment there was part of a larger scheme to make their team a sacrificial target. The closer one was to a wormhole, the more dangerous it was. But thanks to the popularity of Yo Mo’s locust dishes, what was initially a bad situation had turned into a good one.

Even though the battle had only lasted half a day, soldiers from District 8 had already earned tens of thousands of star coins. Yet, despite the abundance, locusts remained in high demand.

Mo Mo returned to the command centre and began monitoring the changes around the wormhole. The book his wife had given him detailed various Zerg species, and he eagerly anticipated encountering other types. However, he knew some creatures, like crabs, should not be consumed by pregnant women.

He hoped those creatures would stay hidden until after his wife gave birth; otherwise, she would be disappointed.

Mo Mo was entirely focused on his wife and missed her terribly. Though they had just parted, he was already longing for her.

He checked his storage ring and felt frustrated; it was filled with items meant for ghost cultivators, unsuitable for a pregnant woman. He sighed, wondering what to get her to celebrate the birth of their child.

Mo Mo decided he needed to find items suitable for mothers and babies, hoping to aid his wife’s recovery. However, he thought nothing could compare to the vitality water she had.

As he browsed the star network, he saw various baby clothes and suddenly found a direction. Every woman loves beautiful clothes, and he imagined how Momo would enjoy wearing lovely outfits after giving birth. In the past, the clothes in the dark realm were simple compared to the variety available in the galaxy.

Despite the synthetic fabrics now used in the galaxy, which were comfortable but not ideal for infants, Mo Mo thought of the luxurious fabrics from ancient times, which were more suited for babies. Now there is no cotton cloth or anything like that in the entire galaxy because it is not produced

Mo Mo’s heart ached with the responsibilities of fatherhood, but he was determined to find the best for his family.

Meanwhile, Ye Mo had already started making clothes for their baby with the fabric from the mortal world, using her dozen or so nanny robots to help with the task.

There are now a dozen or so nanny robots in Ye Mo’s space, all busy with different tasks. Ye Mo had them organize the storage room and, at the same time, make some clothes for her future children.
