Ready to Depart (Part 3)
After soothing Baobao and Beibei, Ye Mo and Mo Mo placed them back on the bed and headed to the next room. Speaking of squeamishness, the three little girls in their family are all very squeamish. Basically, they can’t stand the slightest grievance.
Momo held Niuniu in her arms. Niuniu, feeling a bit restless, squirmed uncomfortably in her embrace. “Niuniu, it’s Mommy!” Ye Mo’s familiar voice calmed the little one, and she stopped wriggling.
“Niuniu, Mommy’s going to give you something now. It might hurt just a tiny bit, but I promise it’ll only hurt for a moment. Please don’t cry, okay?” Ye Mo spoke softly, holding Niuniu close while gently stroking her head.
Niuniu made a few small sounds, and Ye Mo glanced at Mo Mo. This time, they planned to work together. While Ye Mo cradled Niuniu, Mo Mo swiftly pricked her finger to perform the blood recognition ceremony. Perhaps because Ye Mo had warned her beforehand or because she was nestled in her mother’s arms, the little girl barely made a sound. She whimpered slightly but didn’t cry.
As the jade pendant fused into Niuniu’s dantian, her face lit up with a smile, showing she was quite comfortable now.
Ye Mo then set Niuniu down and picked up Yueyue, repeating the process. Before long, even Qianqian had completed the blood recognition ceremony.
With all six children successfully bonded to their jade pendants, both Ye Mo and Mo Mo were exhausted, sweating from the effort. They exchanged smiles, then quietly left the children’s room.
“For now, things are stable,” Mo Mo said, looking at Ye Mo. “When do you plan to leave?”
“Tomorrow,” Ye Mo replied firmly. She didn’t want to delay.
“I’ll arrange for two hundred soldiers and ten bodyguards to accompany you,” Mo Mo suggested.
“Isn’t that a bit too conspicuous?” Ye Mo asked, worried that traveling with such a large group, especially from District 8, would make it too obvious who she was.
“Are you against it?” Mo Mo asked, observing her closely.
“I was planning on slipping out quietly by myself,” she explained, serious about keeping a low profile.
“Then I’ll have someone disguised as you. Once you arrive at Star One, they’ll assist you behind the scenes,” Mo Mo decided, trusting his wife’s abilities. After all, Ye Mo was more agile on her own, able to evade attention more easily.
Mo Mo handed her a bag. “This is the deed to one of my properties on Star One. You can stay there when you arrive. Now, let’s go meet the soldiers and bodyguards, so they’ll know who you are.”
With that, Mo Mo teleported them to his office and then led Ye Mo outside. The ten bodyguards were currently training the two hundred soldiers, practicing coordination drills.
When Mo Mo arrived with Ye Mo, all eyes turned to her. The soldiers were visibly impressed. Was this the general’s wife? She is stunning!
Mo Mo spoke up, “This is my wife, Ye Mo. She will be heading to Star One. You won’t be traveling with her, but I’ll arrange for someone to pose as her during the journey. Once you arrive, you’ll assist her discreetly. Understood?”
“Understood!” they all shouted in unison. However, one of the bodyguards hesitantly asked, “General, is it safe for the Madam to travel alone with the children? It seems too dangerous.”
The others looked equally concerned. The idea of her traveling alone with six children sounded extremely risky.
“Don’t worry, she’ll manage just fine,” Mo Mo reassured them. He knew about the space Ye Mo possessed—one where people could reside. This allowed him to feel confident that she could handle the journey on her own. After all, she would be more mobile and less likely to be slowed down by others.
After introducing herself to the group, Ye Mo left. With her departure set for tomorrow, she had some preparations to make.
Before leaving, Ye Mo decided to visit her grandmother. After all, her grandmother had once cared for her. Even though things had changed, it felt right to say goodbye.
When Ye Mo returned to the valley, she sought out her aunt and told her of her plans to visit their grandmother. She didn’t plan to give any advance warning, fearing that Grandma Yu might make things awkward.
“Let’s go. I’ll go with you,” Aunt Yu said, patting Ye Mo on the shoulder. “No matter what she says, don’t let her get under your skin.”
“Alright,” Ye Mo nodded.
The two of them quietly flew their craft to the wealthy district, hovering above Grandma Yu’s house. At that moment, Grandma Yu was sitting alone in the courtyard, lost in thought.
Ye Mo landed the craft and she and Aunt Yu stepped out. Grandma Yu looked up, startled, and her expression quickly soured. “What are you doing here?” she asked coldly.
“I’m leaving. I came to say goodbye,” Ye Mo replied, leaning against the craft. Her tone was distant—after all, she felt no debt to this woman. Since her arrival, Ye Mo had treated Grandma Yu very well.
“Leaving? Where to?” Grandma Yu demanded.
“You don’t need to know, Grandma.” Ye Mo threw a box at her feet. “This is a box of star coins for you. It’s more than enough to take care of all your needs.”
“You—”
“Grandma, I’ve said what I came to say. I’m leaving now.” Ye Mo wasn’t interested in sticking around. If Grandma Yu didn’t appreciate her, then there was no reason for her to try. Relationships were reciprocal, and Ye Mo wasn’t one to give without return.
“You’re just going to leave? Aren’t you going to see your father? He’s still in a coma,” Grandma Yu said angrily.
“Why would I visit him?”
“You’re just going to abandon him after what you did? You’re responsible for his condition, and now you think you can just walk away?” Grandma Yu fumed.
“How is it my fault, Grandma? Was I the one who brought those people? Weren’t they contacted by Yu He? Dad’s situation is the result of his own choices, not mine,” Ye Mo responded icily.
“Mom, stop blaming her,” Aunt Yu interjected, frustrated. “Everything that happened to my brother, he brought upon himself. It has nothing to do with Momo. If anything, he’s been the one harming her all along! You’re being unreasonable, Mom. I told Momo she shouldn’t have come to see you.”
With that, Aunt Yu bent down, picked up the box of star coins Ye Mo had dropped, and said, “Momo, let’s go. Grandma doesn’t need these coins. The allowance I give her is more than enough.”
Without giving Grandma Yu a chance to respond, Aunt Yu dragged Ye Mo back to the craft, and they took off.
Grandma Yu was left fuming, knowing that the box contained star coins that were worth hundreds of millions. She regretted letting her pride get in the way. Now her daughter had taken the money with her.
As they flew away, Ye Mo turned to her aunt. “Aunt, are you sure we shouldn’t leave her the star coins?”
“What for? She doesn’t remember a single good thing you’ve done for her,” Aunt Yu replied, speaking the truth.
