Preparing to Depart (Part 5)
Mo Mo stood calmly and instructed, “These seven of them attacked the General’s wife. You can arrest them now. Make sure to interrogate them thoroughly and find out who’s behind this. Don’t let a single one escape.”
“Understood!” The intergalactic police officers, all trained by Mo Mo himself, were fully devoted to his commands. No matter who stood in front of them, Mo Mo’s word was the law.
Without hesitation, the officers moved to apprehend Zhang Yuming and his group. Zhang Yuming began shouting desperately, “Ye Mo, it was Yu He who sent me! She’s your sister! And the information I got about you came from your grandmother. She’s your own flesh and blood. If you arrest me, neither of them will escape punishment!”
“Then arrest them all!” Before Ye Mo could respond, her aunt angrily shouted. She hadn’t expected her own mother to betray them. If Mo Mo hadn’t arrived in time, and if Ye Mo hadn’t known some martial arts, what would have happened to them, faced with six hulking men? Aunt Yu couldn’t imagine a scenario where she would have come out unscathed. She was with Ye Mo, and it was clear her mother had completely disregarded that.
She was furious. How could her mother forget that six children were still at home, waiting for their mother to return? This betrayal was too much to bear.
“Go ahead, arrest them now!” Aunt Yu turned to Ye Mo and urged, “Ye Mo, you should go. The children are waiting for you. I’ll handle the arrest myself.” She was determined to confront her mother and demand answers.
Ye Mo sighed. “There’s no need to arrest Grandmother. I don’t owe her anything anymore.” She glanced at Mo Mo, accepting that her grandmother’s grace toward her had been repaid in full.
Mo Mo nodded. “There’s no need to arrest the old lady. But tell her that Ye Mo is no longer connected to her in any way.” It was time to sever this family tie once and for all.
Aunt Yu added, “And tell her one more thing—I’ll send her 10 million credits. Consider that the end of our mother-daughter relationship. She should never contact me again.”
As for how long the money would last, that was up to her mother.
Ye Mo packed away her flying vehicle and, with Aunt Yu by her side, boarded Mo Mo’s craft to leave.
Zhang Yuming and the six men were quickly taken into custody, and Yu He was likely next. This was District 8, and Mo Mo wouldn’t show any leniency to Prince Caser, not when it involved his wife’s safety. Mo Mo had already suspected something darker when he fought the six men—they were likely hired assassins aiming to kill his beloved wife.
After dropping Ye Mo and Aunt Yu back at the valley, Mo Mo departed again. He needed to go to the police station to ensure those men received the punishment they deserved.
Ye Mo gently held Aunt Yu’s hand. “Aunt, don’t be upset.”
Aunt Yu sighed and looked at her. “I’m not upset for myself, but I worry about you.” Her mother had never treated her well, so Aunt Yu wasn’t as hurt. But she feared Ye Mo would be disappointed by the betrayal.
“I’m fine, Aunt. Don’t worry about me.”
“You’ve endured so much, Ye Mo.” Aunt Yu stroked her hair.
“I’m really okay. We have money, we have good food—what’s there to be sad about?” Ye Mo smiled as she reassured her aunt.
Leading Aunt Yu to the courtyard, Ye Mo decided it was time to help her fully recover her health. But she wasn’t sure how a complete genetic restoration would affect her aunt, who was an ordinary person.
Seated by the pond, Ye Mo handed her aunt a cup. “Are you thirsty? Drink this water.”
Aunt Yu took it without hesitation and downed it in one go. “This water tastes amazing!” she remarked, licking her lips.
Ye Mo smiled. “I thought so too.”
Soon, Aunt Yu began to feel her body heat up. “Ye Mo!”
“This is vitality water. It will restore your genetic health to 100%,” Ye Mo explained seriously.
Aunt Yu’s face turned bright red. “Ye Mo, this water must be very rare. You shouldn’t have wasted it on me.”
“It’s not a waste, Aunt. You deserve it. If you meet someone you like, don’t hesitate to remarry. Once I leave, you could move back to the villa if you want. Not all men on Kamo Star are bad. You’ll find someone worthy of you.” Ye Mo spoke sincerely.
As the impurities in Aunt Yu’s body began to purge, Ye Mo took a few steps back. “Aunt, stay here for now. If the smell becomes too much, you can jump into the pond. I’m going to check on the kids.”
“You cheeky little thing!” Aunt Yu laughed, despite being nearly overwhelmed by the stench. She dove into the pond, realizing Ye Mo had anticipated this and brought her here on purpose.
She quickly removed her watch, worried that it might automatically detect her improved genetic health and cause trouble.
Ye Mo returned. “Aunt, hand me your watch. I’ll install a program to hide your physical condition.”
Aunt Yu tossed the watch to her, and Ye Mo ran off to make the adjustments. After about an hour, Ye Mo returned the watch, and Aunt Yu emerged from the pond. The once clear water had turned black from the impurities.
“What should we do about the water?” Aunt Yu was concerned.
Ye Mo poured a bucket of vitality water into the pond. In moments, the black water was purified. Aunt Yu’s eyes widened. “This water is incredible!”
“How do you feel, Aunt? Do you sense any strange energy in your body?” Ye Mo asked.
Aunt Yu concentrated for a moment and felt something unusual. Extending her finger, she was surprised to see a stream of water flow from it.
“What is this…?”
“Congratulations, Aunt. You’re now a water-element ability user.”
Aunt Yu’s eyes lit up with excitement. “Really?” Elemental ability users were incredibly rare across the galaxy, and now she was one of them.
“You can try using it,” Ye Mo encouraged, teaching her aunt how to control the newfound power. Soon, Aunt Yu was able to make water flow from her fingers with ease.
“I really have an ability?” Aunt Yu was elated.
“It’s real, Aunt! You can find a great job now!” Ye Mo was thrilled for her. With this ability, her aunt’s future will be bright.
Having an elemental ability meant Aunt Yu could work in important positions across the galaxy. Her prospects are dazzling.
But Aunt Yu shook her head. “I still prefer the valley. I think the water ability suits farming better.”
